In a recent interview, John Boyega (the Star Wars sequel trilogy) denied rumors that he is joining the MCU.
“That’s not in the vision for me now,” Boyega told Men’s Health. “I want to do nuanced things. I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top Iron Man in that universe.”
Rumors began to circulate that Boyega had intentions to join the MCU after a 2021 appearance on Fresh Air with Terry Gross, when the actor praised the studio’s work with Anthony Mackie becoming the new Captain America in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter soldier. (A role Mackie will reprise in Captain America 4.) Last year, Boyega told Gross, “A lot of people have been commenting about the elevation of Falcon’s character in the series and how they’ve really done well with bringing him up, which I also agree as well.”
