The Sims 4 will bring the popular calendar feature from the Seasons expansion to the base game for all players.

The addition was confirmed to those who recently got their hands on the preview build of the upcoming Cottage Living pack (including Digital Spy). The development team then publicly shared the news with fans on Thursday’s live stream breaking down the new countryside-themed expansion.

In 2018’s Seasons, the calendar contributed towards a greater sense of time progression as players could keep track of seasons, weather, holidays, and everyone’s schedules.

The Sim Gurus explained on the stream that the base game version of the calendar won’t show information on weather and holidays, which are both exclusive to Seasons. But players will be able to check on their Sims’ schedules and plan events.

“We’re actually providing the calendar to everyone with some minor adjustments. Obviously if you don’t have Seasons installed, you’ll not see the seasons panels,” producer SimGuruRomeo clarified.

The base game update with the calendar will be rolled out just before Cottage Living is released – and that’s no coincidence.

One of the features of the base game calendar is the ability to see when festivals are on. Cottage Living‘s new world Henford-on-Bagley has a fair every Saturday, and players will be able to keep track of all the information.

“You’ll be able to tell when those are, and you’ll actually be able to read the fliers straight from there and go to the festival if it’s running,” producer SimGuruPopcorn said.

At Henford-on-Bagley’s weekly Finchwick Fairs, residents can participate in competitions by submitting their best oversized crops or prized animals (such as cows and chickens).

The calendar isn’t the only new feature coming to the base game. The developer also confirmed earlier this month that new interactions such as group cooking and kids gardening will be added, as well as a new afro hairstyle.

The Sims 4 Cottage Living will be released on July 22 on PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
