UP TO 15,000 operations could be cancelled from NEXT WEEK as NHS nurses go on strike, analysis has shown.
NHS Trusts have been told to tell affected patients their surgeries will be delayed by this coming Tuesday.

Hospitals have been told to reschedule appointments as soon as possible.
Cancellations which come about after Tuesday are expected to occur only in “exceptional” circumstances.
The delayed operations include hip and knee replacements, hernia repairs, cataract surgeries and cardiac procedures.
Eight in ten NHS trusts already fail to meet targets for seeing suspected cancer patients within two weeks of a GP referral.
And 60 per cent are failing to treat 96 per cent cancer patients within a month, NHS figures show.
It’s estimated more than 100,000 outpatient appointments will be affected, as 100,000 nurses will strike.
76 hospitals and NHS organisations will strike, with many worried of unprecedented pressures on emergency services.
Ministers are refusing the Royal College of Nursing’s demands for an 18 per cent pay rise.
RCN general secretary Pat Cullen, said: “Anger has become action – our members are saying enough is enough.
“We will no longer tolerate a financial knife-edge at home and a raw deal at work.”

15,000 ambulance workers will today vote on strike action over pay
MORE than 15,000 ambulance workers from across the country will today vote on strike action over pay.
Members of the GMB union are being balloted amid continuing industrial unrest in many sectors of the economy.

NHS workers in other unions, including nurses, are also being asked if they want to strike.
The GMB said ambulance staff at 11 trusts in England and Wales are angry at the Government’s imposed four per cent pay award — calling it “another massive real terms pay cut”.
Its action national secretary Rachel Harrison said: “Ambulance workers don’t do this lightly and this would be the biggest ambulance strike for 30 years.
“But more than ten years of pay cuts — plus the cost of living crisis — means workers cannot make ends meet. They are desperate.” She insisted the dispute is about safety as well as pay.

Ms Harrison said delays of up to 26 hours and 135,000 NHS vacancies means a third of GMB ambulance staff fear they have been involved in a delay that led to a death.
She added: “Ambulance workers have been telling the Government for years things are unsafe. No one is listening. What else can they do?”
