I styled a $30,000 outfit for Coachella – I think my look ‘slayed’ but some people say ‘money can’t buy taste’
MONEY can buy anything but some people say that money can’t buy happiness or in one woman’s case, taste.
One influencer showed off her whopping $30,000 Coachella fit and people say it proves that money doesn’t necessarily mean style.
Polina (@polina.nioly) showed off the outfit she put together for the festival in a video with over 400,000 TikTok followers.
She started off with her top, a white floral halter from the brand Blumarine, which came in at $990.
Next came accessories, which made up the bulk of her expenses, with flashy jewelry from Hermes, Cartier, Valentino, Van Cleese, and Dannijio that clocked in a $27,800.
For bottoms, she went with a skirt from Diesel which set her back $1090.
Last but not least, to carry her festival necessities, she carried around a Marc Jacobs teddy backpack, $480.
“Going hardcore this year,” she said, adding the hashtag #Coachella2023.
People took to the comments to share their thoughts — many viewers were not impressed despite the outfit’s hefty price tag.
“Money definitely can’t buy style,” said one commenter.
“Just cause it’s expensive doesn’t mean it looks good,” agreed another.
“Money can’t buy taste,” said a third.

Amazon Rejects Petition from 30,000 Workers Opposing Return-to-Office Mandate
Disgruntled Amazon corporate employees are reportedly devastated after a top human resources executive shot down an internal petition that asked the tech giant’s leaders to nix its return-to-office plan. Approximately 30,000 workers had signed a petition begging CEO Andy Jassy to cancel his directive that most employees work on site at least three days per week. The return-to-office plan is slated to take effect on May 1.
Beth Galetti, Amazon’s HR chief, shot down the petition in a message to organizers obtained by Insider and signaled that the return-to-office plan will move forward as scheduled. “Given the large size of our workforce and our wide range of businesses and customers, we recognize this transition may take time, but we are confident it will result in long-term benefits to increasing our ability to deliver for our customers, bolstering our culture, and growing and developing employees,” Galetti said in the memo….
In the petition, which first surfaced last month, Amazon workers argued they are more productive and enjoy a better work-life balance in a remote work environment. The workers also asserted that the three-day-per-week requirement runs contrary to Amazon’s stances on issues such as affordable housing, diversity and climate change…. Meanwhile, Jassy has argued that working more days on site will help build effective collaboration and “deliver for customers and the business.”

Six Arrested After Manipulating Gas Station Pumps To Steal 30,000 Gallons of Gas
But local police arrested six men who, in a series of robberies, tricked the pumps out of 30,000 gallons of gasoline, reports the Mercury News, “a haul authorities estimated was worth at least $180,000.”
Upon further inspection of surveillance video, authorities said, police saw one of the suspects activate a gas-pump computer, allowing another suspect to pump fuel into his vehicle…. An employee from the Valero station, who declined to give their name, called the process the gas thieves used “nearly untraceable.”
“You must have a deep understanding of how the pump system works,” the person said. “There is a time frame anywhere from 75 seconds to two minutes for the authorization to go through the network [after sliding a credit card into a gas pump]. In this (time period), there’s an opportunity to manipulate the pump … You’re able to manipulate the pump and confuse the programming to an extent that the pump starts dispensing gas….”
In a Facebook post, authorities said the three suspects had been “conspiring together in a sophisticated operation to thwart security devices and pump electronics to steal large amounts of gasoline from the business….”
Authorities say $20,000 of damage was done to gas pumps.

WAYS TO SPARKLE ’N’ SHINE
AROUND one in five Christmas temp workers get permanent jobs with their employer.
Charlotte Davies, at career networking site LinkedIn, says: “Seasonal work can be a great opportunity to get a foot in the door.”
Here she has some tips on how to stand out . . .
TREAT THE JOB LIKE A PERMANENT ROLE: Show the same professionalism and enthusiasm.
UNDERSTAND THE COMPANY: Speak to people in different departments to get to know the processes.
Showing you have a good understanding of how the business works and could hit the ground running if hired permanently helps.
NETWORK: Connect and engage with your co-workers to demonstrate your interest and commitment to the company and ensure you are front of mind for any long-term positions that become available.
You’re four times more likely to get hired this way than any other.
SHARE YOUR SUCCESSES: Show your employer you are proud of the work you are doing for them, by sharing and celebrating your achievements in person and on LinkedIn.
Make sure you tag the firm and your co-workers.
PREPARE FOR INTERVIEW, JUST IN CASE: At the end of your temporary contract, you may be asked to interview for an ongoing position.
Ensure you have prepared some answers to likely questions so you can shine.
