An Apex Legends “Lore Bomb” Is Dropping In Season 17
Apex Legends Season 17: Arsenal is nearly here, with less than 24 hours to go before the new season–and all of its wild new features–become available to the playerbase. But with all the focus on the seasonal update’s meta-altering changes and Apex’s stylish new legend, it can be easy to miss the limited-yet-fascinating information we have on Season 17’s upcoming plot developments.
Players have, of course, gotten to know Season 17’s new legend, Ballistic, quite well. From the suggestion that he may be taking an anti-aging medication created by Silva Pharmaceuticals to the revelation that Pathfinder was once his housekeeper, players already know Ballistic is full of surprises. But Respawn says even more impactful lore is on the way this season.
During a Season 17 preview event attended by GameSpot, Respawn’s team of developers walked attendees through everything there is to know about Ballistic, including details about his design (animating his jacket was surprisingly difficult) and his personality (“James Bond meets John Wick”). But during the post-preview Q & A session, Respawn answered one of our questions with an intriguing surprise: A “lore bomb” is about to drop in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends Devs Take Aim At Bots, Smurfs In Season 17
Apex Legends Season 17: Arsenal launches next week, and will introduce a number of significant changes to the game, from the end of seasonal ranked splits to the introduction of a new weapon mastery system (and, of course, a new legend). But with all the pre-season excitement in the air, it’s easy to miss one of the most valuable additions Season 17 is bringing to the game: a better system for targeting the cheaters, bots, and smurfs who have plagued Ranked Mode in recent times.
During Season 17 previews, Respawn gave attendees the scoop on the dev team’s latest anti-cheat measures. While discussing the game’s “under-the-hood” changes to Ranked Mode matchmaking, Apex Legends design director Evan Nikolich detailed some of the behind-the-scenes moves being made to combat players with less-than-honorable intentions.
“We have an all new matchmaking system done with a hidden skill rating,” Nikolich told viewers. “The big thing is we’re taking into account is pre-made squads, to balance for competitive advantages.”

Apex Legends’ latest character Ballistic is an old dog showing off some new tricks in his trailer
The new Apex Legends season, Arsenal, looks exciting from watching the new trailer. The 17th season is set to launch on May 9th, and features new character Ballistic, a competitor in the Apex Games’ predecessor the Thunderdome Games, now making a comeback as the new legend. The popular World’s Edge map is also getting some healing, and there’s an Apex Museum within the map that celebrates Apex’s past, present, and future. Although the theme for this season seems to be nostalgia, there are still some new features to look forward to, particularly the updates to the weapon system and upgraded Firing Range.
