Everything (and Every Batman) We Spotted in The Flash’s Flashy New Trailer
A new Flash trailer is here, and with it, a better picture of what to expect from this multiversal mashup meant to close out the current phase of the DCEU before its new chapter begins. And what should we expect? A lot of Batman and Kryptonians, apparently. Here’s everything we spotted in the manic new trailer.
‘The Flash’ trailer is all about Batman
The new trailer for DC’s The Flash goes all in on Michael Keaton’s Batman.
Sure, we learn a bit about the catastrophic consequences of Barry Allen (controversial actor Ezra Miller) going back in time to save his parents from dying. But we also see a lot more of Keaton’s take on Bruce Wayne as he reprises the role from Tim Burton’s 1989 and 1992 films. He monologues about dead parents, flies the Batplane, and then leaps from it with no parachute. (His cape seems to be a big help there, though.)
And if you thought Michael Keaton was the only Batman we’d be seeing in this movie, boy do we have a surprise for you: Ben Affleck makes an appearance! Man of Steel‘s General Zod (Michael Shannon) and Supergirl (Sasha Calle) also pop up, making this a massive DC crossover event… that also happens to be about the Flash.
The Flash hits theaters June 16.
The Flash looks like a great Batman movie

Amazon scoops up ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ after HBO Max cancellation
Amazon has reportedly picked up Batman: Caped Crusader, the animated series Warner Bros. developed for HBO Max but scrapped last August to cut costs. Despite also drawing interest from Netflix, Apple and Hulu, the upcoming show will have a home on Amazon Prime.
First announced in May 2021, Batman: Caped Crusader sounds like a spiritual successor to Batman: The Animated Series, the beloved 1990s weekday afternoon staple. The upcoming show was created by executive producers JJ Abrams, Matt Reeves and Batman: The Animated Series developer Bruce Timm. In addition, celebrated comic-book writer Ed Brubaker is on the creative team for the 10-episode first season.
The Amazon sale was part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s plans to monetize content by selling it to third parties. The studio will now focus on the Batman IP as part of a 10-year DC Comics meta-story spanning film, TV, gaming and animated series. In addition, a sequel to Reeves’s 2022 film The Batman and spin-off series The Penguin on HBO Max are in the works.
“We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City,” Abrams and Reeves said when Batman: Caped Crusader was announced. “The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”

HBO’s Batman Spinoff Series Casts Clancy Brown As Crime Boss
Clancy Brown has been cast in a recurring role for The Penguin, an upcoming spinoff series from HBO Max’s The Batman. Variety was first to report.
Brown will play Salvatore Maroni, a notorious crime boss in Gotham City. Maroni’s character was referenced several times in The Batman, and his arrest allowed for Carmine Falcone’s organization to rise. The role of Maroni has been previously portrayed on screen by David Zayas and Eric Roberts.
The Batman Spin-Off Series The Penguin Casts Clancy Brown as DC Comics Mob Boss
When one mob family falls another one rises in Gotham. The highly anticipated DC Studios The Batman spin-off The Penguin has found its Salvatore Maroni, Variety reports that Clancy Brown (John Wick: Chapter 4) is going to take on the character as the antagonist in the Colin Farrell-led HBO Max series.
Never mind the Arkhamverse, the only good Batman game is Assassin’s Creed 2
So, the long awaited next foray into the Arkhamverse, Suicide Squad, looks like a pretty miserable experience from what we’ve seen so far. A screenshot doing the rounds on Twitter puts the spotlight on a dreary looking set of stat modifiers that reads like a tech manual for transistors. The fact that it’s a live-service looter shooter with no true single-player mode (‘co-op with bots’ doesn’t count), and the horrifying red flag of requiring a constant internet connection to run, shows just how far Rocksteady has strayed from the light. The light being Arkham “it’s a Metroidvania, actually” Asylum, the solitary jewel in the crown of Batman-themed video games, nestled amongst a litany of, frankly, shite.
I know at this point people will be throwing turnips at me for suggesting that Arkham City isn’t as good as Arkham “did you realise it was a Metroidvania” Asylum, but please rest assured that I’m only suggesting it because it’s true. The last thing Arkham “it’s like a 3D Metroidvania! Wow!” Asylum needed was bloat: and Arkham City, frankly, was where the rot started to set in on that front.
Of course, you can’t blame them. Where else can a video game sequel go from a tight, long night in the worst hospital on earth, other than out into the streets? The only way is “more”. More open world. More of the rogues gallery. More, sigh, hours of gameplay. In fairness to Arkham City, it did often feel like a series of Asylum-style vignettes connected by an overworld hub, but by the fourth game when we’re screaming around a deserted Gotham in Batman’s Car (by popular demand), the magic had entirely unravelled.
Suicide Squad brings back Batman Arkham’s least successful villain
You read that right, ahead of the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release date later this year, the least successful Batman Arkham villain appears to have been spotted in the new superhero game footage from developer Rocksteady. While we don’t know what capacity they’ll appear in, it seems pretty likely that they’ll be in the new Suicide Squad game.
