Hyper Light Breaker trailer shows off first gameplay in ‘infinite open worlds’
Hyper Light Breaker goes into Steam Early Access this fall, first gameplay trailer released
The first gameplay trailer for Hyper Light Breaker, the Hyper Light 3D co-op rogue-lite adventure from Heart Machine, has been released.
The new co-op rogue-lite adventure is set in the Hyper Light Drifter universe, but set decades prior to Drifter. In this, you take on the role of a Breaker to help establish a settlement in a new frontier.
Using a combination of hack-and-slash combat, ranged weaponry and gadgets, you will fight through and explore a varitey of procedurally-generated open worlds. Try to not only protect the Settlement, but uncover the dark truths of the Crowns, The Abyss King, and the brutal landscape.
Destructure improves the brick breaker formula with smashing satisfaction
I’ve recommended a pretty wide variety of genres over the years, but I didn’t expect a brick breaking game to surprise me like Destructure Colon Among Debris. It’s not that I dislike them. They’ve just never really made much impression (possibly because I don’t see all that many)
Destructure blends in a hint of shooting, resource management, and leans into the sheer fun of destruction, replacing bricks with “structures” that aren’t meant to be anything specific, but give the whole feeling an impression of combat, an assault you’re carrying out rather than a reacting, abstract geometry game.
Also it feels and sounds great to hit stuff. That’s probably the bigger reason.
Beast Breaker devs are closing due to lack of funding, along with their historic workers union
Vodeo Games, the first game development studio in North America to unionise, are shutting down. The team behind turn-based RPG Beast Breaker announced their closure on Twitter, after being unable to find financial backers for another project. Beast Breaker wasn’t a game I was familiar with but its little mouse protagonist looks charming, as you can see in the trailer below.
