While Dark and Darker is caught in a legal battle, a player is bringing the game to Fortnite
While Dark and Darker is still in legal limbo, a sole creator is working on bringing the popular fantasy RPG to a new platform: Fortnite.
This sole developer comes from Fern, a UK-based software engineer who posted a video of their work-in-process project to the Fortnite Creative Reddit. Caught up in the recent tech industry layoffs, they decided to “chill for a bit” and work on personal projects. Thus, the Dark and Darker map.
“The project started back when UEFN didn’t even exist. I believe I started with this idea in Jan 2023. I’d been updating myself on Unreal Engine 5 as I’d done multiple projects with Unreal Engine 4 and wanted to be on the latest version to use nanite, lumen and all the great tech from Epic.”
Two alcohol recovery startups just got caught sharing private user data
Online alcohol recovery startups Monument and Tempest got caught sharing confidential user data with advertisers without their consent, as originally reported by TechCrunch. Everything came to light after an internal review revealed a data breach impacting 100,000 users, forcing the companies to issue a formal disclosure to the user base. The violations started in 2017 and were ongoing until last month’s review.
Monument and Tempest started as two entirely different platforms, but the former acquired the latter several months back. Parent company Monument confirmed not only the data breach but that the companies shared private information with advertisers via a notification filed with California’s attorney general. Data shared with advertisers, without user consent, includes patient names, dates of birth, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, insurance information and more.
Unfortunately, that is just the beginning. In a cruel insult to those seeking recovery, the companies also shared data related to appointment information, assessment information and survey responses, which includes alcohol consumption data. Monument continues to tout its commitment to privacy on its website, saying that survey responses are “protected” despite the recent disclosure
The companies blame third-party tracking systems for the issue, stating that they have removed the offending tracking codes from their websites. The companies do not admit to sharing this information on purpose to increase profits, indicating that the tracking pixels provided by third parties did the deed all on their own.
Though this is an especially egregious example, it is important to remember that most companies have a less-than-pristine record regarding data privacy, even in the case of medical records. There is a near-endless list of similar violations, like the time a mental health startup shared patient information without consent and when Meta was caught with its own hand in the digital cookie jar. Be careful out there folks.

IRS-Authorized eFile.com Tax Return Software Caught Serving JS Malware
On March 17th, a Reddit thread surfaced where multiple eFile.com users suspected the website was “hijacked.” At the time, the website showed an SSL error message that, some suspected, was fake and indicative of a hack. Turns out that’s indeed the case. […] The malicious JavaScript file ‘update.js’, further attempts to prompt users to download next stage payload, depending on whether they are using Chrome [update.exe – VirusTotal] or Firefox [installer.exe – VirusTotal]. Antivirus products have already started flagging these executables as trojans.
BleepingComputer has independently confirmed these binaries establish a connection to a Tokyo-based IP address, 47.245.6.91, that appears to be hosted with Alibaba. The same IP also hosts the illicit domain, infoamanewonliag[.]online associated with this incident. Security research group, MalwareHunterTeam further analyzed these binaries, and stated that these contain Windows botnets written in PHP — a fact that the research group mocked. Additionally, the group called out eFile.com for leaving the malicious code on its website for weeks: “So, the website of [efile.com]… got compromised at least around middle of March & still not cleaned,” writes MalwareHunterTeam.

RPS@PAX 2023: 5 more indie games that caught our eye
Liam and I played a lot of games at PAX East, like a lot. Most of them we managed to make videos for, but there were many more that we just didn’t have the time to cover, and that were also very good! So here’s a quick list of five more games I wanted to spotlight in written form while Liam’s busy in the editing mines working on all the community videos we filmed (the first of which is out right now, chronicling the PAX Facebook group that takes a community photo every single year). It’s very wholesome. We’ve got more community videos coming out this week, plus an article listing our absolute favourite games we played throughout the entire event, so keep your eyes peeled for those, too. For now, though, let’s dive into some more indie highlights.

Harry Styles and Emily Ratajkowski ‘caught passionately kissing’ in Tokyo after singer’s split from Olivia Wilde
HARRY Styles and Emily Ratajkowski have been reportedly caught passionately kissing in a steamy photo taken in the streets of Tokyo.
The As It Was singer was spotted with the model following his devastating breakup with Olivia Wilde, 39, last November.
Harry, 29, and Emily, 31, were seen locking lips in Japan as the Adore You singer artist travels abroad as part of his worldwide Love On Tour.
The public make-out session took place against the side of a parked vehicle as pedestrians moved about the street around them.
The Gone Girl actress caressed Harry’s face as the Grammy Award-winner held onto her hand during the street-side embrace.
The former One Direction member wore a black jacket with his hair pulled back into a tight bun for their post-concert smooch while Emily donned a red puffer coat and an ankle-length black skirt.
Back in February, Emily and comedian Eric Andre had seemingly confirmed their romance by posting some very cheeky photos online.
Eric, 39, took to Instagram on Tuesday and shared two NSFW snaps of himself and Emily relaxing at home.

In the first picture, Eric is laying on a black velvet sofa completely naked and holding a glass of what appears to be red wine.
The comedian is holding his fingers up to his lips and telling Emily to “ssssshhh” as she takes the photo using her phone while completely naked too.
Emily’s reflection can be seen in the mirror which is behind Eric, and she posed in such a way, that her modesty was protected.
Meanwhile, Eric covered his private parts using a pink heart emoji that featured a blue arrow.
The second photo was very similar, but this time, Eric was running his hand through his hair and used a different pink heart emoji to cover up his crotch area.
He simply captioned the post, “Happy Valentine’s Day,” and people quickly noticed who was reflected in the mirror.
“wait is that @emrata in the back?” one person asked, to which someone replied: “god I hope so.”
“OMG I did not even see her!! Thank you and yes it’s definitely her! Damn good job!” another person wrote.
Another Instagram user said, “that’s def Emrata, gents.”
And when someone else said it wasn’t Emily because of the length of her hair, a different person responded: “hair ain’t got nothin to do with anything as women change the length all the time! It’s definitely Emily!!”
Seemingly referring to Emily’s brief romance with comedian Pete Davidson, another person commented, “Well, she does like the funny guys.”
DATING HISTORY
At the end of last year, it was reported by Page Six that Emily and Pete had called time on their romance after only a few months.
The outlet reported that the New York comic had opted to focus on his relationship with actress Chase Sui Wonders, 26.
Emily, who split from her husband Sebastian Bear-McClard last September, was also said to be dating other people too and is clearly enjoying her time with Eric.
Eric is a stand-up comedian, actor, producer, television host, and writer, best known as the creator, host, and co-writer of the Adult Swim comedy series The Eric Andre Show.
HARRY’S LAST RELATIONSHIP
In November of last year, the news broke that Harry and his then-girlfriend Olivia Wilde had split after two years together.
The pop star and the Hollywood director called it a day after meeting on the set of the movie Don’t Worry Darling.
A source told People they are now just “close friends” and revealed Olivia is focused on raising the kids she shares with ex-fiance Jason Sudeikis, 47.
The source said: “They’re on a break. He’s still touring and is now going abroad. She is focusing on her kids and her work in L.A. It’s a very amicable decision.
“Right now, they have different priorities that are keeping them apart.”
The news comes after it was revealed that Harry secretly kissed co-star Florence Pugh on the set of Don’t Worry Darling — weeks before he began a relationship with the director, Olivia.
Rumors began to swirl that Olivia and Harry were dating after they were seen attending his agent’s wedding in California in January 2021.
The romance came shortly after her nasty split from the Ted Lasso star.
