Warhammer 40K: Darktide Update Aims To Make Completing Missions, Crafting More Rewarding
Warhammer 40K: Darktide’s latest update brings big changes to how players earn gear and modify gear, and looks to be a step in the right direction for a title that has been heavily criticized by fans for feeling incomplete.
Patch #4, Blessings of the Omnissiah, revamps numerous aspects of Darktide’s progression. For starters, players will always receive a new weapon or piece of gear upon completing a mission, something that curiously wasn’t the case until now. Completing missions on higher difficulties will increase the chances of receiving a higher-rarity item.
Players have complained since launch about being unable to obtain the gear they want, as doing so largely revolved around sitting at a vendor that stocked random weapons and waiting for the vendor to refresh its inventory. Developer Fatshark has largely addressed that issue with the update, as players can simply buy a base version of any weapon type they’ve unlocked at any time at the Armory Exchange.

Destiny 2 Reveals More Details About Lightfall Weapon Crafting Changes
After revealing that the way players craft weapons would be evolving after Lightfall’s release, Destiny 2 has given us more of a peek at what that might look like. A new blog post has introduced three new crafting capabilities that will be introduced to the game over the coming year: Weapon Enhancing, Deepsight Activation, and Weapon Level Boosting.
The first of these to be introduced to the game will be weapon enhancing, which will drop “a few weeks” after the Lightfall Master raid and will be available only for a select few weapons–initially only Adept weapons acquired in Lightfall’s Master raid will be available for enhancing.
The process will allow Adept weapons to be upgraded with enhanced traits, a level, and a memento socket, with the enhancement operating on a three-tiered system as detailed below:

Rather than overhaul gear and crafting systems, Darktide should rip them out
The makers of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide have laid out their plans to improve the co-op shooter’s shopping and crafting systems. The gear system changes, due to arrive in the next patch, do sound like improvements to the current state of things. These plans do not sound better than entirely ending the tedious grinds of random rolls and making numbers bigger. Why improve when it would be better to remove?
Destiny 2: Lightfall Will Remove Deepsight And Resonant Elements For Weapon Crafting
In Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Bungie introduced weapon crafting, and with that came a pile of new materials. Bungie eventually removed some of those materials but still required players to use Resonant Elements when Shaping and Reshaping weapons at the Relic. In this week’s blog post, Bungie shared changes players should expect with weapon crafting in Year 6 with Lightfall’s launch.
Firstly, Bungie plans to remove Deepsight Resonance attunement progress from craftable weapons. Attunement progress was required on red-border weapons to get Resonant Elements and extract Weapon Patterns for crafting. With Resonance gone, Resonant Elements will leave Destiny 2 as well.
The developer’s reason for this change is that it wants to “integrate weapon crafting into the broader core economy,” according to the blog post. Common currencies like Glimmer and Enhancement Cores will replace the removed elements.
