Self-driving Tesla doesn’t yield for pedestrian. Tesla fan cheers.
A seven-second self-driving Tesla video posted to Twitter this past weekend shows a likely illegal driving event in San Francisco that, unfortunately, happens all the time in ordinary situations. It’s the poster’s reaction that has left many online unsettled.
In the video, we watch from inside the car’s cabin as the robo-Tesla edges close to a pedestrian who enters an intersection. The software display clearly shows the software picking up on the presence of the completely unprotected and vulnerable human, but Tesla’s software, it appears, doesn’t trigger compliance with the relevant law that says cars have to yield to pedestrians.
The text of the tweet couldn’t be more jolly about the victimless (in this case) moving violation, calling it “One of the most bullish / exciting things I’ve seen on Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta 11.4.1,” and describes not yielding as proceeding “like a human would,” rather than “slamming on the brakes.”
Whole Mars Catalog, which posted the video, is the online identity of a Tesla and SpaceX fan apparently named Omar Qazi. The Whole Mars Catalog Twitter account has hundreds of thousands of followers, and draws approving replies from Elon Musk.
For a rundown of this not-at-all obscure law, check out the third second of the video, in which a sign can be seen which says “STATE LAW YIELD TO [PICTURE OF PEDESTRIAN] WITHIN CROSSWALK,” just to the right of the pedestrian in the crosswalk not being yielded to.
Elon Musk recently touted the latest update to Tesla Full Self-Driving beta, version 11.4.1, as a steep improvement. It’s been slowly rolling out to Tesla consumers this month, and It’s supposedly so good that it should be called version 12, except that 12 will, Musk claims, be the release of an “end-to-end AI” version of FSD, whatever that means.
The video has some Twitter users concerned:
The Whole Mars Catalog Twitter account is, so far, full-throated in its defense of FSD 11.4.1, claiming that “people who don’t live in cities aren’t getting this,” and that prior FSD updates would have caused the Tesla in question to stop within the crosswalk in this scenario. “That is wrong, continuing forward is right,” claims Whole Mars Catalog. Indeed, stopping within a crosswalk blocks it, and no, that isn’t safe for pedestrians. The issue, however, is that this Tesla quite clearly has ample time to stop well before the crosswalk.
That a California driver may well also ignore the law in a similar situation is irrefutable (the author of this article is a reluctant Los Angeles driver). However, whether or not we should program our robotic cars to also drive this way should, perhaps, be a matter for public debate, and, maybe, for the legal system to decide. Such a democratically-informed decision could perhaps be made before this new norm is rolled out as a software update, and exuberantly lapped up by fans of a billionaire who then get to experiment with it on public roads.

Elon Musk claims Twitter has hired a new CEO but doesn’t reveal who she is
Good news, Tesla investors!
In a tweet today, Elon Musk shared that Twitter – well, its new parent company X Corp. that is – has hired a new CEO who will start within 6 weeks.
“Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter,” Musk tweeted on Thursday. “She will be starting in ~6 weeks!”
Now, remember, this is Elon Musk. Six weeks could come and go and he could very well still be Twitter’s CEO. But, let’s go with the scenario that he has indeed hired a new CEO and take his announcement from there.
Musk did not reveal who the CEO is. However, based on the pronoun that Musk used in his tweet, it does appear that Twitter’s owner has hired a woman for the role.
Who that could be is anyone’s guess! Maybe he poached crypto evangelist Cathie Wood from her CEO role at the investment firm Ark Invest. Musk recently called her “awesome” on Twitter. Or perhaps he hired Islamophobic conspiracy theorist and far right wing activist, Laura Loomer, whom he recently interacted with on Twitter. Heck, it could even be his musician ex-girlfriend Grimes!
What does matter, at least to Tesla investors, is that he’s found someone. Musk’s EV car manufacturer hasn’t been doing too well on the stock market ever since Tesla CEO Musk also became Twitter CEO Musk. Some Tesla investors argued Musk was derelict in his role at the car company.
Tesla stock was trading at around $228 when Musk officially acquired Twitter. It fell as low as $101 earlier this year. It’s hovered around the $160 range over the past few weeks. When Musk tweeted out the news on Twitter, the price quickly spiked to more than $172.
Musk’s announcement comes almost five months after his Twitter poll asking the platform’s users if he should step down as CEO of the company. More than 17.5 million users voted in and 57.5 percent said he should step down. Musk tried to deflect on commenting on the poll over the past few months, even going so far as claiming he did abide by the results by appointing his dog Floki as CEO.
As for Musk’s future with Twitter, he claims he’s staying on as Executive Chair and CTO, the latter of which he mentioned doing back in December right after his Twitter poll ended.
“My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops,” he said in his tweet today.
But let’s be honest here. It’s still Musk’s Twitter. Not only is he staying on, he’s also its owner! And Twitter is now a private company controlled by Musk. So, he’ll still be calling the shots regardless of who the new CEO is.

I have big boobs – I’m called rude names but just cause they’re a certain size doesn’t mean they’re up for grabs
A WOMAN has revealed the rude name she gets called due to her large chest.
Sharing her troubles on social media, she also asserted that the size of her boobs doesn’t serve as consent for those who try to get handsy.
“Having naturally big boobs,” Jasmyn (@jasmynnadine) wrote in her TikTok video.
She then let viewers into her world and shared what the reality of living with a large chest is like.
“Being told you look like a sl*t even in a turtleneck,” she finished off, revealing what’s been said to her in the past.
Social media users flooded her comments with words of encouragement.
“They just jealous baby girl,” one wrote.
“Told by jealous people no doubt, you look amazing,” added a second.
“You are you and that is beautiful,” a third person chimed in.
Someone else took a stance about how women are treated in society.
“Yeah, women are just disrespected for existing in society. It’s honestly so disgusting and needs to change,” they commented.
To which Jasmyn responded: “Seriously, it’s one thing to flaunt yourself and act a certain way. But just cause my boobs are a certain size, does not mean they’re up for grabs.”
An additional user suggested that Jasmyn may simply be around the wrong people due to the type of comments her chest elicited.
“Mayhaps you’re hanging around the wrong people,” they wrote.
Jasmyn responded, suggesting it wasn’t people she knew: “You know it tends to happen while I’m minding my own business and a stranger just wants to ruin my day.”

I’m a royal expert – Meghan Markle ‘snubbed’ King Charles on coronation and thinks she doesn’t need royals anymore
MEGHAN Markle snubbed King Charles on the day of his coronation and thinks she doesn’t need the royals anymore, says a royal expert.
On the day of the first coronation in 70 years, Meghan, 41, stayed at home in the US while Harry, 38, travelled solo to support his dad.

A royal expert has said Meghan snubbed Charles on the day of his coronation[/caption]
Harry smiled as he made his way to Heathrow after the ceremony[/caption]
The ceremony fell on the same day as the royal couple’s son Archie‘s fourth birthday – and is understood to be the reason Meghan decided against making an appearance.
However, a royal author has since said she “felt sorry for Harry” having to show up on his own since Meghan was happy to “snub” the Firm.
Angela Levin told The Sun Online: “Of course it is a snub.
“It’s saying ‘I don’t need you anymore now that I’ve gotten what I want’.
“It’s outrageous. Meghan has got no sense of what is polite anymore.
“Does she think she’s bigger than the monarchy now?”
The coronation was the first time Harry had been with his family since the bombshells were dropped.
He jetted in from California on his own making a whirlwind visit before returning back to his family in the US.
In the UK for around 24 hours, Harry left the ceremony at Westminster Abbey and headed straight for Heathrow.
Angela told how Harry was made to look “vulnerable” walking into the church by himself adding he was clearly “self-conscious”.
She said: “I felt very sorry for Harry. I thought that it was tragic that a man so vulnerable would have to walk alone down the aisle in the cathedral while everyone else had their partners.
“I thought that it would have been very difficult for him.
“It was clear he was quite self-conscious. He had to pretend everything was ok when its not.
“I’ve spent a lot of time with him so I know what he’s like and he was nervous.
“Yes, he smiled at people and said good morning but you could tell just looking at his hands that he wasn’t having an enjoyable time.
“He was all clenched up – you could see the tension.”
TENSE REUNION
Angela said the lack of time Harry took to congratulate Charles shows any positive change to the relationship is a “very long way away”.
She added: “Then hearing that he went straight to Heathrow was extremely sad.
“He had no time to say congratulations to his father.
“It shows he is a very long way away from building back up any family relationships.
“It doesn’t look as if he had any time with Charles or William. At most it could have been a few minutes.
“He flew in yesterday when we saw all of the royals on walkabouts so he wasn’t with them then clearly.
“And last night and this morning will have been filled with prep for the big day.
“The strength of how far apart the family are means that they can’t just throw a plaster on it and have everything be ok.
“It can’t have been sorted out in minute – they need days and weeks of sitting down and getting it all out.
“I don’t think we will be seeing Harry in Britain again for quite some time.”
Harry smiled and appeared happy throughout the two-hour ceremony, before making a swift exit as the King and Queen clambered into the Gold State Coach.
Following Harry’s exit, over 4,000 troops from across the three Armed Forces took off for the biggest military procession since 1952.
The service had ancient traditions – some dating back to 1065 – and saw Charles anointed and crowned with the 1661 St Edward’s crown.
The service finished at 1pm and the royals set off on a 1.4 mile procession back to Buckingham Palace which included the 4,000 troops.
The procession ended with a “three cheers” for the King and Queen by the five household regiments on Buckingham Palace’s lawns.
The Royal Family then made their way to the famous Buckingham Palace balcony where they were greeted to rapturous applause from the thousands of fans who had gathered on The Mall.
Charles, 74, is the first king to be crowned in Britain since his grandfather King George VI on May 12, 1937.
