Jonathan Majors Dropped From Movies, Ad Campaign, Amid Domestic Assault Allegations
Jonathan Majors was set to have a big year in 2023 thanks to the releases of Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania pulling in a collective $745 million. With his March 25 arrest on allegations of assault, however, Majors is seeing Hollywood pull away from him. Now, Majors has lost two movies and an ad campaign, according to Deadline.
Majors was to star in and executive produce The Man in My Basement, based on the 2005 novel by Walter Mosley. Deadline reports that a search for a new lead is underway, though notes that Willem Dafoe is still attached. Majors was also reportedly considering the lead role in an Otis Redding biopic called Otis and Zelma, but has been dropped from consideration.
Additionally, Majors was set to appear in an ad campaign for the Texas Rangers baseball team, with the first spot to air this Friday–but it was pulled at the last minute following the allegations.

‘Vulkan Files’ Leak Reveals Putin’s Global and Domestic Cyberwarfare Tactics
Thousands of pages of secret documents reveal how Vulkan’s engineers have worked for Russian military and intelligence agencies to support hacking operations, train operatives before attacks on national infrastructure, spread disinformation and control sections of the internet. The company’s work is linked to the federal security service or FSB, the domestic spy agency; the operational and intelligence divisions of the armed forces, known as the GOU and GRU; and the SVR, Russia’s foreign intelligence organization.
One document links a Vulkan cyber-attack tool with the notorious hacking group Sandworm, which the US government said twice caused blackouts in Ukraine, disrupted the Olympics in South Korea and launched NotPetya, the most economically destructive malware in history. Codenamed Scan-V, it scours the internet for vulnerabilities, which are then stored for use in future cyber-attacks. Another system, known as Amezit, amounts to a blueprint for surveilling and controlling the internet in regions under Russia’s command, and also enables disinformation via fake social media profiles. A third Vulkan-built system — Crystal-2V — is a training program for cyber-operatives in the methods required to bring down rail, air and sea infrastructure. A file explaining the software states: “The level of secrecy of processed and stored information in the product is ‘Top Secret’.”

Domestic Violence Charges Against Rick and Morty’s Justin Roiland Have Been Dismissed
After losing his gigs aboard Adult Swim blockbuster Rick and Morty—which he co-created, and on which he voiced both title characters—as well as Hulu’s Solar Opposites, among other projects, Justin Roiland has seen the domestic violence charges against him dismissed.
Domestic Violence Case Against Justin Roiland Dismissed
Justin Roiland, the co-creator of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty, has been cleared of domestic violence charges, according to a statement from the Orange County District Attorney’s office. Variety was first to report.
The charges were dismissed due to insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. Roiland pleaded not guilty to one count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and/or deceit in 2020. He appeared in court in January for a pre-trial hearing, and a second pre-trial hearing was scheduled for April 27.

Roiland responded to the dropped charges on social media, saying he was thankful the case had been dismissed but was still “deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process.” He also expressed disappointment that so many people were quick to judge him based solely on the word of someone he referred to as “an embittered ex.” Adult Swim severed ties with Roiland in January due to the domestic violence charges, and Roiland resigned from Squanch Games, the video game developer studio he co-founded in 2016. Hulu similarly dropped him from both Solar Opposites and Koala Man.

Almost 40% of Domestic Tasks Could Be Done By Robots ‘Within Decade’
The experts involved in the research, published in the journal Plos One, estimated that only 28% of care work, such as teaching or accompanying a child, or caring for an older relative, would be automated. But they predicted that 60% of the time spent on shopping for groceries would be cut. However, predictions about robots taking over domestic work “in the next 10 years” have been made for several decades, but the reality of a robot able to put out the bins and pick lego up from the floor has remained elusive.
