Gambling Firm Allegedly Paid Blogs To Link New Members To Its Online Games
The Advertising Standards Authority’s (ASA) guidelines state that gambling adverts must not be “socially irresponsible,” including presenting betting as a way to relieve loneliness or depression. Another parenting blog recommended “opulent games of online roulette that are easy to learn and can provide some handy winnings too.” The ASA guidelines also state that gambling must not be presented as a “solution to financial concerns.” A further three parenting blogs posted parenting articles that also contained segments recommending online casino or bingo and linking to the Coral website. A source familiar with the arrangements said Coral had paid the bloggers to include the links.
Entain, which owns Coral, said the articles including links to the Coral website had been posted between 2014 and 2016, before it bought Ladbrokes Coral in 2018. On Tuesday, the company said it would try to get them taken down as soon as possible, although they remained live on Sunday. The source, who used to work for a company that arranged such deals with bloggers, said Coral staff had read the articles and signed them off before publication. […] Only one of the blog posts disclosed that links contained in the article were the result of a sponsorship or affiliate marketing arrangement. The Guardian has chosen not to name the blogs because the authors could not be reached for comment. The source said the practice was chiefly aimed at manipulating Google’s search results by creating an association between women and online casino and bingo games.

Australian government cracks down on loot boxes and in-game gambling with new age rating proposals
The federal government in Australia have today proposed a number of changes to their National Classification Scheme as they seek to crack down on digital gambling and video games that promote it. The proposed changes would apply an R18+ (over 18s) rating to any game with simulated gambling, and an M for “mature” (over 15s) rating to any games with paid loot boxes, potentially changing the classification for games such as FIFA which were previously G-rated (for everyone).

I’m a gambling expert who won £2.5million at Cheltenham Festival… here is my GOLDEN RULE to bag a big winner
A GAMBLING expert who won £2.5MILLION at Cheltenham has revealed his golden rule.
Richard Brocklebank – who wrote a book about his incredible win – feels the best way to take home a fortune is to “get the value”
Richard Brocklebank said the best way to take home a fortune is to ‘get the value’[/caption]
He urged Brits to place their bets on the day of the races .
Richard, 57, of Hyde, Cheshire, said: “For those punting at the Cheltenham Festival, which starts this coming Tuesday, my golden rule is get the value.
“Back in the day advance ante-post flutters were a fabulous way of banking value, but these days the value ante-post isn’t there at all for the man in the street.
“I’d say now the best value is on the race day itself, with bookmakers of all kinds offering extra places in lots of races and they also very often push the prices out a bit.
“The special offers sometimes are so good that you can have a bet to nothing.
“The ante-post punt is often overtaken by events with horses declared non-runners after standing on a stone, or injuring themselves on the gallops.”
Richard won £1,519,301 on horse From Dawn To Dusk.
And after another race, Cheltenham provided him a £115,00 Scoop6 win that he followed with an £804,000 bonus.
So with nearly £2.5 million bagged thanks to Cheltenham winners the track has special place in his heart.
Richard’s syndicate has always looked for the value and the longshot to help them land the big wins.
The author – who was thrilled when legendary jockey Frankie Dettori penned the foreword for his book – added: “Don’t be afraid to just watch a race – if you cannot see, or perceive any value in the contest, then leave it alone from a punting perspective and just enjoy the spectacle.
“Nothing gets the blood pumping in sport more than a bunch of top-rated thoroughbreds flying the hurdles and fences in the Cotswolds in March – they are the best of the best.”
In his book – titled ‘£3 Million In 3 Weeks: The Squirrel Syndicate’ – the author recalls how aged 21 he had a life-changing tickle for a £2.50 each way six-timer with William Hill on Cheltenham Festival Trials Day.
