Samsung gets FDA approval for a sleep apnea feature on Galaxy Watch
The Food and Drug Administration has given the green light to a sleep apnea detection feature on Galaxy Watch devices in the US, Samsung has revealed. The company notes this is the first approval of its kind in the US — South Korean officials previously rubberstamped the feature for use in that country.
Samsung plans to add the sleep apnea monitoring tool to compatible Galaxy Watch wearables in the third quarter of this year. It will be available via the Samsung Health Monitor app.
The feature allows those aged 22 and older who have not been diagnosed with the condition to check for signs of sleep apnea using their smartwatch and phone. It looks for signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) over a two-night monitoring period. Users will need to track their sleep for more than four hours twice over a ten-day period to use the feature.
OSA is a common, chronic condition that affects around 25 percent of men and a tenth of women in the US, according to the National Sleep Foundation. Those with the condition tend to stop breathing while they sleep, which can reduce their sleep quality, disrupt oxygen supply and lead to more daytime tiredness. Left untreated, “sleep apnea can compound the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia and stroke,” Samsung notes. The company added that the feature should help more people detect moderate and severe forms of the condition, and for them to seek medical advice when they do.
Other versions of the feature, which ties into Samsung’s other efforts to help its customers have a good night’s sleep, have popped up in devices elsewhere. In 2020, Withings added a sleep apnea detection feature to its sleep tracking mat.

The GTA series blazes past the 420 million sales mark, as Rockstar gets ready to unleash ST-Ds on Los Santos
Good news, people who like mildly funny numbers (it’s me, I’m people), the GTA series has now surpassed the 420 million mark in terms of total sales, and Take-Two has revealed that to us just as Rockstar is about make ST-Ds available to the GTA Online masses.
Yup, we all might have recovered from the GTA 6 mania that gripped the world at the tail end of last year, when that trailer arrived in our lives, got us thinking about Tom Petty, and brought out the amateur detective in almost everyone, but GTA things are still happening in Los Santos. And the series’ sales numbers are also continuing to push the boundaries of what’s comprehensible, having now reached a value that the goth kids from your college would no doubt appreciate.
As part of its latest earnings call, the aftermath of which saw Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick tell IGN that Rockstar’s parent company has “no current plans” regarding layoffs, it shared some tastefully-assembled presentation slides featuring the latest sales numbers for the biggest titles in its portfolio. As expected, GTA’s leading the way, having now “sold-in over 420 million units”, with GTA 5 alone rapidly lurching towards the 200 million sales mark.

Knuckles gets into VR and bullies his human friend in the first trailer for his Paramount+ show
The first trailer for the Sonic spinoff series focusing on Knuckles that no one asked for is here, and it actually looks kind of cute and badass.
What if Knuckles (voiced by the mighty Idris Elba) was Sonic’s housemate? What if Knuckles also had a dumb human friend he wanted to train as an Echidna warrior? If those questions sound enticing to you, you’re in luck. The Knuckles series looks exactly as silly and outdated-ish as the two (very successful) Sonic the Hedgehog flicks that Paramount has put out so far, but maybe that’s what we need right now.
The first-ever trailer for the Paramount+ series is actually quite generous, and introduces us to Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles’ post-Sonic 2 day-to-day, meaning this spinoff show will most likely tie directly into the third movie, which comes out this Christmas and will break the Internet with live-action Shadow and probably also the child who gets shot and sends Shadow on a warpath.
