My 80-year-old grandma doesn’t dress her age – she’s a fashion icon, people should be more like her
A YOUNG woman has shown off how proud she is of her 80-year-old grandma’s style and energy.
She praised her for being a fashion icon and advised people to be more like her when they’re older.
TikTok user Tillynjen (@tillynjen3) shares many aspects of her life online.
Whether it be nostalgic fashion, style tips, or time with loved ones, it’s all simply for fun.
It’s apparent that she has great respect and appreciation for her grandmother Carolyn by the many times she mentions her in her videos.
In a video on the platform, she introduced viewers to her 80-year-old family member and it was apparent where her sense of style came from.
For the duration of the video, the TikTok user filmed her grandmother posing in a living room.
Her vivacious personality came to the forefront with the way she showed off her clothing items.
From her French manicure to her fresh white kicks and white fluffy sweater that she paired with jeans and a white turtleneck sweater, Carolyn slayed.
Her granddaughter emphasized this with her subtitles over the video that read “she is a fashion icon and “Don’t dress your age. Dress like Carolyn.”
The tone of the video went perfectly with the background song, Fergie’s Glamorous.
The TikTok user mentioned in the video’s caption that her grandmother is battling lymphoma cancer, but still maintained high energy and a smile.
Her comment section was filled with appreciation and admiration for her grandmother.
“Oh gosh, she’s sassy! Love this!” a fan praised.
“The french tuck! You come by it honestly!!!” another chimed in.
“Excuse me??!! She’s EVERYONE’S grandma now!!” a viewer comically wrote.
I’m a grandma in my 50s, people say I’m ‘embarrassing myself’ with how I dress but I don’t care
A GRANDMA in her fifties got negative feedback for dressing how she wants but she’s not going to let it stop her.
Fatos Fatma (@factsfatma), a 54-year-old grandma, shared her outfit in a video with over 191,000 TikTok followers.
She sported leggings and a lace camisole, but unfortunately, not everyone was pleased with her choice of outfit.
She added the hashtags #over50 #54andfabulous.
“You need to stop dressing like this and posting videos on TikTok at your age,” said one critic.
“You’re embarrassing yourself.”
She didn’t let that faze her, however.
She mocked the comment using lyrics from an Eminem song.
“You’re a mean, mean man,” she mouthed.
She brushed off the troll and danced to the song to show how little she cared about what they thought.
People took to the comments to support her.
“Nope don’t stop,” agreed one viewer.
“You’re gorgeous and if you feel good doing this then getter done.”
“Nope, you’re gorgeous. I love it,” said another.
“Gooo gooo over 50.”
“You need to carry on posting,” suggested a third.
“More is better.”

My date said I was ‘too fat’ so I proudly showed off my ‘grandma bod’ in a bikini – compliments poured in
MODERN dating is difficult to say the least — and even more complex for older women.
One TikTok user and grandma shared her dating nightmare of being body-shamed— and the resilient stand she took to reclaim her power.
Digital creator @Recover_your_power took to TikTok to share her empowering lesson in body positivity.
“So my date said I’m too fat,” she started.
“I know I have 25 pounds to lose,” she noted.
“But … can we normalize Grandma Bods?” she asked.
She then turned the camera to her amazing hour-glass figure, wearing a teeny-tiny black bikini.
TikTok users rushed to the comments with confusion, support, and most importantly, praise for the grandma’s figure.
One user wrote: “I don’t see where there is 25 lbs to lose?? You are perfect.”
Another agreed: “You’re gorgeous! The only thing you need is a different date!”
In her follow-up TikTok, she explained what motivated her to create this video.
“I was out by the pool and I was feeling really blue about my weight,” she said.
“I did some self-talk — and I said ‘screw it’” she explained.
“I don’t feel too bad for a grandma, and I just shot the damn video and then I posted it,” she said.
“It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she said.
“Just because somebody doesn’t fit the mold of what you think they should for body positivity doesn’t mean that they don’t feel bad about how they look,” she noted.
“I wasn’t feeling 100% at all about how I looked — and I’m still not,” she explained.
“But those compliments did help,” she said. “I wasn’t fishing for compliments, I was trying to say that whatever you look like, be happy in your body.”
“I guess I was trying to convince myself to be happy in mine,” she said.
“If I was looking for clout, or compliments, I probably would have done a still shot,” she clarified. “And Photoshopped the hell out of it.”
“No matter what size you are, no matter what age you are, love yourself enough to feel good in your own skin,” she concluded.
TikTok users chimed in with even more support.
One user wrote: “Loved this…you be you!”
Another user couldn’t have agreed more: “You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone — honey you’re perfect as you are.”
