I had no idea I’d won £5million lotto jackpot as I was too busy watching TV… when I realised I didn’t tell my wife
A MAN was so glued to the TV that he didn’t realise he had just scooped a powerball lottery win of £5million.
The lucky New Zealander took home the lotto sum at the weekend – and even kept it secret from his wife initially.

The unnamed man from Auckland claimed he was taken by surprise.
He said: “I didn’t pay any attention to the Lotto results that evening as I was too busy watching the rugby – Blues versus Crusaders.”
However, the next morning he was strangely bombarded with lottery emails.
He said: “One said I’d won a major prize, which seemed odd.
“I thought maybe I’d won the Mother’s Day promo prize.
“I quickly logged onto MyLotto to check my ticket and couldn’t believe it when I saw all my numbers line up.
“I was speechless – I never expected to win Powerball.”
The man initially kept his wife in the dark about the major scoop.
But he later admitted he was waiting until her special Mother’s Day lunch to share the news with their family.
He said “At first, they couldn’t believe it.
“They thought it was a joke.
“But after I showed them my ticket and replayed the draw on my phone, and they could see it happen, they realised it was real.
“My wife was very happy.
“She wondered how I managed to keep it so quiet, but I’m good at keeping a secret.”
In Australia and New Zealand, Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday of May every year.
The couple will reportedly share their winnings with their family and donate some of it to charity.
Tears of the Kingdom midnight launch had kids form a circle pit at a death metal gig
What better way is there to celebrate the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom than by listening to a metal gig and watching kids make a circle pit?
Midnight launches are quite the ordeal for some, as they can be a fun way to connect with your local community – you might even have your copy sold to you by Bowser himself. But where some midnight launches will keep things simple by quite literally just selling people the game, others will go the extra mile, like at one GameStop in Texas, Houston, which literally featured a death metal gig and a bunch of kids forming a circle pit.
As reported by Consequencehttps://consequence.net/2023/05/kids-circle-pit-gamestop/ (thanks, NME), the band featured at the midnight launch is called Severance, with the group’s lead singer Chris De Leon saying that he is a “huge gamer,” and is friends with this GameStop’s manager. The manager invited the band to play at the midnight launch, and play they did. “[Before] the very last song [we played that night] … I saw these little kids just really getting into it in front of us, and one of them started doing a circle pit motion,” De Leon said. “So, on the spot, I taught them, ‘Hey, do that, but altogether … we call that a circle pit.’ … The song kicks in, and these kids are going hard.”
