The first aftermarket Steam Deck screen upgrade is here, but it sure seems like a bad idea
I had no idea I’d won £5million lotto jackpot as I was too busy watching TV… when I realised I didn’t tell my wife
A MAN was so glued to the TV that he didn’t realise he had just scooped a powerball lottery win of £5million.
The lucky New Zealander took home the lotto sum at the weekend – and even kept it secret from his wife initially.

The unnamed man from Auckland claimed he was taken by surprise.
He said: “I didn’t pay any attention to the Lotto results that evening as I was too busy watching the rugby – Blues versus Crusaders.”
However, the next morning he was strangely bombarded with lottery emails.
He said: “One said I’d won a major prize, which seemed odd.
“I thought maybe I’d won the Mother’s Day promo prize.
“I quickly logged onto MyLotto to check my ticket and couldn’t believe it when I saw all my numbers line up.
“I was speechless – I never expected to win Powerball.”
The man initially kept his wife in the dark about the major scoop.
But he later admitted he was waiting until her special Mother’s Day lunch to share the news with their family.
He said “At first, they couldn’t believe it.
“They thought it was a joke.
“But after I showed them my ticket and replayed the draw on my phone, and they could see it happen, they realised it was real.
“My wife was very happy.
“She wondered how I managed to keep it so quiet, but I’m good at keeping a secret.”
In Australia and New Zealand, Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday of May every year.
The couple will reportedly share their winnings with their family and donate some of it to charity.
Warhammer 40K’s Smaller New Game Mode Is a Great Idea
In a game as vast as Warhammer 40,000 has become, there’s always been need for different ways to smash your pile of plastic against someone else’s pile of plastic in ritual combat. From full-on legions on each side to squad-based skirmishes, they’re still persisting into the game’s upcoming new edition—just with the…

Building a digital clone or assistant with generative AI — good idea or bad?
Disclosure: IBM, Microsoft and Cisco are clients of the author.
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is moving at light speed, and we’re already beginning to see people use it to clone themselves digitally. (A Wall Street Journal writer created a digital clone that her family has been interacting with instead of her.) To reiterate how fast AI tools are progressing, the idea of creating a digital twin that could fool others was mere speculation a year ago, a sci-fi fantasy that was years, perhaps decades, in the future.
Beau Is Afraid Actor Has No Idea What The Movie Is About, Had Basically No Prep Time
Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster’s new movie, Beau Is Afraid, arrives this month, and one of the film’s cast members doesn’t know a whole lot about it.
Richard Kind (Scrubs, Curb Your Enthusiasm) plays a lawyer, Dr. Cohen, but Kind was hired very late for the project after someone else dropped out. He had a meeting on Friday afternoon, agreed to the role the same day, and began practicing his lines right away. By the following Monday–just three days later–Kind was on set at 7 AM to film his part. Given the compressed timeline, Kind didn’t have a chance to read the script, and thus doesn’t know much about the movie beyond his part in it.
“Because I only had two days to memorize it, I didn’t have the luxury of reading the script,” Kind told Entertainment Weekly. “After I did the movie, I was so intrigued. I said, ‘I’m not reading the script, I’m going to see the movie.'”
Pizza ovens are a hot gift idea this year — these are the ones we tested and loved
Whether you’re particular about the kind of pizza you like, or you’re just an outdoor cooking enthusiast, a pizza oven is a handy gadget to have in your backyard (or on your countertop). Most models on the market now can churn out wood-fired Neapolitan pies, crispy thin crust versions, and even decadent Chicago-style deep dish pizza.
There are also plenty of portable models small enough to take in the car for your next weekend camping (or glamping) trip, football game tailgate, or picnic lunch — just make sure you check the fire restrictions in your area before cranking up the heat for a homemade pie.
How hot do pizza ovens get?
While the conventional oven in your kitchen probably only gets up to 500 or 550 degrees Fahrenheit, pizza ovens need extreme heat for quick dough rising times and optimal crust bubble-age. You can expect a good outdoor pizza oven to reach 900 to 950 degrees Fahrenheit, but you can still achieve charred leopard-spotted Neapolitan pizzas at 700 to 750 degrees Fahrenheit.
How fast do pizza ovens cook?
Given that most pizza ovens run at an insane heat, cooking time happens FAST. We’re talking start to finish in as little as 60 seconds up to a few minutes. You definitely won’t have time to pop your pizza in and scroll on TikTok while you wait for it to cook. Cooking with a pizza oven requires dedicated attention due to the quick cooking times, and you’ll also have to learn how to manage the heat on your oven while you chef it up.
Gas vs. wood pizza oven
Most of the outdoor pizza ovens on the market run on either wood or propane gas, with a few natural gas options. A wood-powered stove will give you an amazing smoky taste, but it requires more work to maintain a fire while you cook. Gas-powered stoves, on the other hand, won’t offer the same smokiness but are generally easier to manage, and can easily be preheated before cooking. Gas pizza ovens also hold the temperature steady with little fluctuation.
If you’re looking for a pizza oven to use indoors, the pickings for quality ovens are pretty slim (with the exception of our pick, the Breville Pizzaiolo). All indoor-friendly pizza ovens will be powered by electricity though, FYI.
