Abbie, a body positive influencer, shared how she let her lower belly ‘dictate’ her life[/caption]
Abbie (@_abbiekae) shared her experience in a video with over 80,000 TikTok followers.
“I would argue that the absolute dumbest thing I have ever done in my life was let my lower belly pouch dictate so many decisions I have made throughout my life,” she said.
“Things that I did and I wouldn’t do and try and not try… years of my life where my belly was the forefront of my brain.
“What’s it look like? What’s it gonna do if I do this? What’s it gonna hide best in?”
The content creator explained that she’s since grown from the experience and learned to let go.
“Now I have not lost any weight and now I look at my belly and it’s just like… it’s not that big of a deal man, it’s just my body, it just looks like this and it always has, and it’s okay,” she said.
“It’s just kind of liberating to wear things or buy things or try things or eat things when you’re sitting down and not be so worried about your belly poking out a little bit because that’s what it’s supposed to do,” she said.
People took to the comments to share their thoughts.
“It has literally dictated my happiness for over a decade, it’s exhausting,” said one commenter.
“Thank you, I’m gonna need to listen to this on repeat,” said another.
“This is something I’ve struggled with my whole life, thank you for this perspective shift so much, I def needed this reminder,” said a third.
“Very much needed to hear this today,” said a fourth.
