‘Silly little’ car mod which makes you FAIL your MOT, mechanic reveals… it’s the ‘stupidest way’ to waste time & money
A MECHANIC has revealed a “silly little” car mod which could see you fail your MOT.
Drivers are often at risk of being caught out by breaking the smallest of rules, and this one could cost you hundreds.

For many motorists, failures usually involve problems with the motor‘s suspensions, brakes or tyres – but there is something else that could cause issues.
One motors expert has branded an accessory the “stupidest way” to waste time and money on your car by failing.
Posting on the Eurofit Autocentres TikTok account, the mechanic was responding to a question from a customer.
He said: “The stupidest way is when you have things hanging from your rear view mirror.
“Some people have a lot hanging from there and as you’re turning it can sway into your vision.”
The mechanic added that “silly little things” like this could see you fail your MOT.
Despite being harsh, it goes without saying you should remove the accessories to avoid the embarrassment.
As always, TikTokers were quick to comment on the video and weigh in with their opinions.
One wrote: “Mine failed it because of that.”
A second said: “Why can’t they just remove it in the test and pass it, seems very stupid to fail it for something like that.”
Another TikToker agreed, saying: “Surely you’d just take them off for the person if the car was gonna fail.”
While a fourth commented: “Thought you’d say that! Mine failed because of that.”
Another recounted: “My car failed on the air freshener, the tester then moved it and passed it straight after.”
It comes after another MOT mechanic revealed a tell-tale sign of “dangerous” tyre damage, urging drivers to check their rubber.
Craig, from West Midlands-based Walsall Wood Tyre and Service, used TikTok to warn motorists that they could be at risk without even realising.
And an expert mechanic has warned drivers over a deadly duo of winter motor mistakes that could cost them hundreds and leave them stranded in the cold.
Meanwhile, a homeowner shared his parking space side hustle that nets him over £6,000 a year.

Replaying Phantom Liberty? This new Cyberpunk 2077 mod is all about finding Dogtown’s cool hidden secrets
If you’re looking for a fresh reason to delve back into Cyberpunk 2077’s brilliant Phantom Liberty expansion, a new mod that aims to encourage and help you out as you hunt for all of Dogtown’s hidden gear and secrets is well worth checking out.
While it’s fun knowing that work has kicked off at CD Projekt on the game’s highly-anticipated sequel and that the team working on it is looking like it’s shaping up to be the kind that could produce something really cool, it’s still going to be a good while until it arrives. So, why not head back to Kurt Hansen’s fiefdom and hunt down some stuff you might’ve missed, with a little mod help?
That mod is ‘Pacifica Typhoon – Dogtown’s Hidden Gems’, the latest undertaking of modder Darkcopse, who’s previously given folks the chance to hack all of Night City’s vending and arcade machines, because why not, right? This time around they’ve had a go at creating “an immersive way to find almost all of the 46 hidden gems, sweet spots, cyber-junkies, and iconic weapons in the Phantom Liberty DLC”.
Genshin Impact and Elden Ring collide in bizarre new mod
This Genshin Impact crossover is an Elden Ring mod that swaps out character models to produce unexpectedly funny – and terrifying – results. The swap has the player using Mona Megistus from Genshin Impact in place of the Tarnished, fighting against a monstrous Mitachurl enemy that’s swapped in for Godfrey, the first Elden Lord. Mitachurls aren’t the most fearsome enemies in the anime game, but the mod provides a bit of a surprise in phase two of the boss fight.
