Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom review – Nintendo hasn’t blown its Fuse
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom lets you ride a heavy metal skeleton horse, eat cooked rocks, and stuff fairies in your pockets. And these aren’t even core aspects of the game.
There are so many silly, or cool, or ridiculous nuggets like this tucked away in Side Adventures or thumbed into secluded corners of the vast map. It was during one such side quest – hot on the trail of the aforementioned skeleton horse – that I said to myself: “This would be on the back of the box of most games.”
Tears of the Kingdom is so successful because it marries an impressive sense of scale with a mechanical granularity that means you can always interact with its wide-open sandbox in creative, surprising ways.

Nintendo Switch moves 22% fewer units but digital games sales are up
Nintendo Switch sales are slowing, but there’s still plenty of fuel left in the tank
Nintendo’s handheld launched on March 3, 2017, at a time when home consoles from Microsoft and Sony were all about power and smartphones were dominating mobile gaming. The gamble paid off as Nintendo has sold 125.62 million systems (as of March 31). The Switch is Nintendo’s best-selling console to date…
Nintendo, Ticked by Zelda Leaks, Does a DMCA Run on Switch Emulation Tools
Nintendo’s takedown request (RTF file) notes that the Switch contains “multiple technological protection measures” that allow the Switch to play only “legitimate Nintendo video game files.” Lockpick tools, combined with a modified Switch, let users grab the cryptographic keys from their own Switch and use them on “systems without Nintendo’s Console TPMs” to play “pirated versions of Nintendo’s copyright-protected game software.” GitHub typically allows repositories with DMCA strikes filed against them to remain open while their maintainers argue their case. Still, it was an effective move. Seeing Nintendo’s move on Lockpick, a popular Switch emulator on Android, Skyline, called it quits over the weekend, at least as a public-facing tool you can easily download to your phone. In a Discord post (since removed, along with the Discord itself), developer “Mark” wrote that “the risks associated with a potential legal case are too high for us to ignore, and we cannot continue knowing that we may be in violation of copyright law.”
