Here’s who’s coming to Summer Game Fest: CD Projekt, Larian, Steam, and dozens more
CD Projekt Red will tell us a bit more about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty this June
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty still doesn’t have a release date yet, but CD Projekt Red says we’ll start to hear more about it this June.
CD Projekt announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would be getting a big expansion called Phantom Liberty last year, later revealing that the one and only Idris Elba is the next celebrity actor making an appearance in the world of Cyberpunk. We haven’t really seen or heard much about it since then, but earlier this week the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter brought the DLC up again, promising that we’ll actually start to get some more information on it this June.
“ICYMI, we’ll start talking about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty this June,” reads the tweet. “At [Summer Games Fest]: Play Days, we’ll have hands-on sessions for press and content creators. We’re also planning plenty of hands-on opportunities for our community at a later date, so stay tuned!”
Surge in Cyberpunk 2077 sales give CD Projekt Red its second-best year ever
CD Projekt Red’s latest financial results show that it brought in $222 million in revenue last year, up from the $207 million it made the previous year. Net profit was also up year-on-year, jumping 66% from $49 million in 2021 to $81 million in 2022. An 18% fall in operating costs also helped the company’s bottom line.
CD Projekt Red Reports Major Profit And Revenue Growth Year-On-Year
CD Projekt Red has released its earnings report for 2022, and it’s looking good for the Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 developer. The company boasted a 66% increase in net profit, driven by an increase in revenue, and a decrease in CDPR’s overall operating costs.
The Polish company reported a revenue of 953 million PLN ($222 million USD) in 2022, up from 888 million PLN ($207 million USD) the previous year, and a net profit of 347 million PLN ($81 million USD), up from 209 million PLN ($49 million USD) in 2021. Despite the upwards trend, CDPR hasn’t managed to hit the same level of success it saw in 2020, when Cyberpunk 2077’s release caused a massive revenue spike that took its yearly profit to a massive 1.15 billion PLN ($268 million USD).
In its profit and loss breakdown, CDPR showed a 7% increase in revenue year-on-year, a modest figure that’s nevertheless impressive two years after the company’s last major game release. Despite its rough launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen solid sales after CDPR committed to fixing the game’s initial issues and adding extra content, with the success of Netflix’s Edgerunners anime giving it an extra boost in late 2022.
