Patch 23.2 changes the game
The next PUBG Mobile update is probably not what you expected. The version 2.6 update, which releases on May 18, will add dinosaurs to the popular battle royale game.
The Dinoground event, as its called, runs until June 18. As part of it, players can find dinosaur settlements on the maps Erangel and Livik that are full of dinosaurs and supplies. Players can unlock and ride the velociraptors, pterosaurs, and T-Rex after taming them. Velociraptors can jump high to help you get up on tall surfaces, pterosaurs can fly you around the map and grab enemies with their talons, and the mega-powerful T-Rex can carry four people and deal a lot of damage. Check out the trailer below to see the creatures in action.

There are dinosaur-themed minigames, too, including Pterosaur Hoops, which calls on players to ride the create and soar through hoops hanging from hot air balloons. The other minigame is called Velociraptor Jumping, and players need to ride the creatures and jump to high platforms to find treasure.
They’re probably not wrong, but are they pivoting in time?
PUBG has had the most financially successful year since 2019, according to a developer Krafton. The company announced 433.8 billion KRW (or $320.4 million USD) in revenue in Q3 2022, a staggering amount of money reflecting a 2% increase in revenue and 17% increase in profits quarter-over-quarter.
As for why this has happened, it’s stated in the official press release featuring this info that the increased sales of PUBG in Q3 2022 thanks to the consistent inflow of new players since going free-to-play. An especially eye-catching figure comes from PC sales, which increased by 48% from last quarter.
Consoles saw similar growth too, with quarterly sales increasing by 22% from last quarter, and over double the number of sales from last year. What drove new players to pick up the game aside from the transition to free-to-play? The game has seen several major updates over the past few months, including a new map and numerous collaborations with other brands. While PUBG has remained a powerhouse in Eastern markets, these recent changes appear to have brought in an increased number of players from Western regions.
Krafton has announced that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be introducing a collaboration with Brazilian footballer Neymar da Silva Santo Junior, with themed visuals popping up in game, and items available in the in-game store.
The Neymar collaboration is dropping as a part of update 20.2, which is due out on PC on November 9 and for consoles on November 17. The visual update will include billboards, building decorations, soccer balls, and care packages themed after the soccer superstar.
As a keen gamer himself, it’s not Neymar’s first time collaborating with gaming companies. Other than appearing as the PES 2016 cover star, the footballer was also made available as an unlockable skin in Fortnite last year. According to recent leaks for Modern Warfare 2, the athlete could also be appearing soon as a new operator in the game, alongside other big-name footballers.
PUBG is getting a harrowing new event this October (as is New State) thanks to a spooky new Dead by Daylight crossover event on the horizon. As part of this new promotion, players of all three games will be able to net themselves some fancy new cosmetics, as well as take part in some exclusive events. Is this better than going outside and throwing chocolate at children? We’ll let you decide.
Lets start with PUBG players. As part of the event, battle royale heads will be able to earn 4 costumes and masks, 3 new backpack skins, a pan skin and a themed name plate between October 19 – December 7. These are all based on Dead by Daylight, so you’ll be able to rep a selection of your favourite killers as you drop into the firefight below.
In addition, there’s an exclusive Dead by Daylight hide and seek in-game web event that players can jump into in order to unlock some additional goodies. Four players can access it through the in-game lobby banner, where three survivors have to escape a killer in typical Dead by Daylight fashion: throwing objects and repairing generators in order to make their escape.
