Slay the Spire meets Into the Breach in new roguelike, demo out now
Take the tactical combat and turn-based strategy of the phenomenal Into the Breach, but melded with the card game elements of beloved roguelike deckbuilder Slay the Spire, and you have Tendryll. One of the most promising new games I’ve played during the ongoing Steam Next Fest, you can try out Tendryll right now courtesy of a free demo, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot if you’re after that next roguelike hit after all those big 2023 winners such as Wildfrost and Cobalt Core.

Classic puzzle roguelike remaster Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is out now
Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is out now. If you owned the original ten years ago, then you already own this remaster of the wonderfully sticky puzzle roguelike. If not, you’ll find it on Steam for £14.23/$17.
Hyper Light Breaker creator on reimagining the series as a 3D roguelike: ‘I don’t think that you could really release Drifter today and get the same sort of success’
Forget Counter-Strike 2 – CSGO has been remade as an online roguelike
The Counter-Strike 2 release date may be on its way, but as a new version of the iconic Valve FPS game draws ever closer, don’t count out CSGO. Reaching fresh heights when it comes to concurrent users on Steam, and setting records for the number of CSGO cases being opened, Global Offensive still has plenty to give – even if you aren’t a typical shooter fan. ‘Rogue,’ a new, custom-made CSGO game mode just uploaded to Steam, turns Counter-Strike into a multiplayer roguelike, and it’s available right now, just in time to pass the months before CS2.

Mr. Sun’s Hatbox is a slapstick roguelike with a heavy dose of Metal Gear Solid 5
Have you ever been waiting for a delivery, only to have it never arrive? Ever wondered where it went? How does the courier even begin to track a lost item? Mr. Sun’s Hatbox answers all of those questions (very seriously) in a genre-blending comedy. When I say genre-blending, I mean this is a platforming roguelike with extensive base-building, shooting, whacking, stealthing, and a heavy dose of Metal Gear Solid 5. Seriously. It launches on April 20th.
Obviously, this is a fast-paced roguelike where you are a crab with a gun
Slay The Spire Downfall mod developers are making their own tabletop fantasy roguelike
Slay The Spire has remained an incredibly popular deckbuilding roguelike, so it naturally invited a healthy modding community that added fun stuff to the game – goofy googley eyes included. One of Slay The Spire’s most popular mods was called Downfall, a huge fan-made expansion that added tons of playable characters, a new mode, and more. Those developers – Table 9 Studio – are now back with their own not-modded game: an auto-battling, fantasy Chess roguelike called Tales & Tactics.
A demo of Wargroove 2’s roguelike mode is available for the weekend
I somehow missed the news two weeks ago that Wargroove 2 was on the way. The actual successor to a spiritual successor to Advance Wars, Wargroove 2 is another 2D turn-based strategy game, but with new factions, a new roguelike mode, and a new co-developer.
There’s also a demo available to play right now, although only until the end of the weekend.
