Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is getting a God of War style game adaptation
The popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles graphic novel The Last Ronin is apparently getting a video game adaptation.
As reported by Polygon, a video game take on the 2020 graphic novel is on the way. The comic tells the story of the titular Last Ronin, one of the four turtles, in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic New York as he seeks justice for what happened to his family. Sad stuff for a concept that’s mostly pretty silly! This comes from Doug Rosen, senior vice president for games and emerging media at Paramount Global, who spoke with Polygon in a recent interview, though who will be developing the title hasn’t been revealed.
According to Rosen, The Last Ronin adaptation will be a third-person action role-playing game, comparing it to Sony and Santa Monica Studios’ God of War games (presumably the more recent, more grounded ones). It’ll also be a single-player title, in case anyone was worried, playing as just a single turtle, but Rosen apparently noted that other characters might be playable in flashback sequences. In the original comic, the present day followed just one, unnamed turtle, but it did occasionally head back to the past to show other characters.

Fisker offers a peek at its long-range, four-door Ronin convertible EV
Fisker has offered a new look at the upcoming Ronin, which it claims will have the longest range of any production electric vehicle. A render of the four-door convertible has popped up on the company’s website.
The image shows the Ronin from a front corner view. It has a light strip that wraps around the front. As Autoblog points out, there’s no grille, but it appears as though the front bumper has some air intakes. The Ronin has a low profile and large wheels, along with dihedral front doors that are open in the render, but there’s no indication as to how the rear doors open just yet.
Henrik Fisker, the founder of the automaker, said earlier this year that the Ronin will have a 660-mile range under the WLTP testing standard used in Europe. The EPA range is likely to be lower, but all going to plan, Ronin drivers should be able to travel quite a distance before needing to recharge the EV.
As things stand, Fisker plans to show off a near-production-ready Ronin concept in August, with production slated to get underway in 2024. Fisker is said to be keeping the starting price under $200,000.
At the other end of the scale, Fisker started taking reservations earlier this year for the five-passenger Pear, which starts at $29,900 before incentives. The company expects to start building that EV in 2024 as well. Last month, Fisker began production of the Ocean SUV. It will ramp up production slowly, but it expects to build approximately 42,400 units next year.
Team Ninja are making open world samurai game, Rise Of The Ronin
During this evening’s State Of Play livestream, Team Ninja announced their next game. Rise Of The Ronin is an open world game set in Japan in the wake of country opening its borders to the West, with the trailer showing hang gliding, horse riding, rooftop stealth, and combat involving both swords and guns.
It’s also referred to as a “console exclusive” for PlayStation, which means it’ll probably come to PC.
‘Rise of the Ronin’ is a historical action RPG from the team behind ‘Nioh’
The studio behind Nioh plans to take PlayStation fans on an adventure through Bakumatsu-era Japan. On Tuesday, Team Ninja — not to be confused with Ninja Theory — announced it is working on a new action-adventure game titled Rise of the Ronin.
Set in 1863, about a decade after Commodore Matthew Perry ended Japan’s isolation from the West, the game grounds the player in an era of dramatic technological and political change. You’ll play as a wandering Ronin navigating a fractured country. This being a Team Ninja project, expect stylish third-person melee combat. It also looks like the game will take inspiration from Western open-world games like Assassin’s Creed — which, you have to admit, is fitting given the subject matter. Rise of the Ronin will be a PlayStation console exclusive when it arrives sometime in 2024.
