Do business Macs still need to run Windows?
In January 2006, Apple took an important step toward success in the business world — it began to transition the Mac onto Intel processors. In so doing, the company paved the way for Macs to natively run Windows and Windows applications. Initially this capability came via Apple’s dual-boot system, called Boot Camp, followed by Parallels Desktop, software that ran Windows in a virtual environment. Either way, it eliminated an obstacle — the need to run applications not built for the Mac’s operating system — that had kept the Mac out of most workplaces.

‘Run Rabbit Run’ trailer sees Sarah Snook dealing with her own creepy child
Australia’s bad history with rabbits is about to get even worse. Netflix has released the official trailer for Australian psychological horror Run Rabbit Run, and somehow resisted using the song of the same name despite it being a creepy vibes stalwart.
The film follows fertility doctor and single mother Sarah (Succession‘s Sarah Snook) as her daughter Mia (Lily LaTorre) begins to display some strange and unsettling behaviour. Kids being weird isn’t necessarily cause for concern, but Mia’s case appears to be the exception, as she wanders around wearing a creepy rabbit mask, doing unnerving crayon drawings — and claiming to be Sarah’s sister Alice, who went missing when she was seven.
Run Rabbit Run hops onto Netflix on June 28.
Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset Could Run Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro
In a tweet, Gurman said that there’s a “very real possibility” that the headset will eventually run Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro. Gurman’s comment comes following Apple’s announcement of new versions of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro designed for the iPad.
Given that the Apple headset and xrOS will run iPadOS apps, there’s a very real possibility the device will (eventually) run Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro as well. More details on how the headset will work here: https://t.co/6cAnx3mMSC
— Mark Gurman (@markgurman) May 9, 2023
The iPad versions of the apps have been long-desired by content creators for video editing on the go, and Apple is finally making it happen. Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro are set to be released on the iPad on May 23.
Gurman previously said that the headset would run iPad apps adapted to the headset, with thousands of existing iPad apps to also be available through the 3D interface of the device. Apple may need to tweak the iPad versions of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro to work on xrOS, the operating system that runs on the headset, but that could already be in the works.
Apple is expected to introduce the headset at 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference keynote event, set to take place on June 5.

Nintendo, Ticked by Zelda Leaks, Does a DMCA Run on Switch Emulation Tools
Nintendo’s takedown request (RTF file) notes that the Switch contains “multiple technological protection measures” that allow the Switch to play only “legitimate Nintendo video game files.” Lockpick tools, combined with a modified Switch, let users grab the cryptographic keys from their own Switch and use them on “systems without Nintendo’s Console TPMs” to play “pirated versions of Nintendo’s copyright-protected game software.” GitHub typically allows repositories with DMCA strikes filed against them to remain open while their maintainers argue their case. Still, it was an effective move. Seeing Nintendo’s move on Lockpick, a popular Switch emulator on Android, Skyline, called it quits over the weekend, at least as a public-facing tool you can easily download to your phone. In a Discord post (since removed, along with the Discord itself), developer “Mark” wrote that “the risks associated with a potential legal case are too high for us to ignore, and we cannot continue knowing that we may be in violation of copyright law.”
