Recent SCARY BIGFOOT ENCOUNTER Near Appalachian Trail in Perry County, PA
Three friends, living in south-central Pennsylvania, are hiking and camping on the Appalachian Trail near Duncannon. They have a traumatic experience with a possible Bigfoot.
“I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and have spent most of my life here. I’ve been hiking all over the state at least once a week every week since I began driving at 16. But all across the many state parks, I have spent thousands of hours hiking in the woods. I’ve had three strange encounters now since the summer of 2022, almost as if a door has been open since the first one.
The story I’m sharing today is the most recent thing that happened to me and my two buddies last Saturday night. It completely traumatized me. My two lifelong friends and I went on a spur-of-the-moment night hike Saturday night. I haven’t hiked at night for nearly two years I used to hike alone all the time, but hiking with these two guys made us all feel bold. We were hiking near the part of the Appalachian Trail where we grew up in Duncannon and the AT runs through the town. There’s a ridge next to the town with a very popular hiking vista called Hawk Rock. At the base of the mountain, there’s a creek that flows into the Susquehanna River and a road that follows this creek back into the woods for about a mile and a half. It leads to Boy Scout camp shelters and water wells, follows the creek around a bend, and then ends where the road ends. We have a low-key camping site that follows an easy-to-miss trail that continues past the road and goes into the woods another couple hundred of yards. We’re about two and a half miles from the car.
We’re sitting there talking about Sasquatch and encounters. Both of my friends have ever had an encounter. This night was totally dark, with no moon. We couldn’t see each other side by side without a flashlight and it was dead quiet. In hindsight, it seems weird. There are normally lots of frogs along that Creek. I’ve been at this campsite about two dozen times and never had anything happen to us there. We’re talking about Missing 411 and my two previous encounters. One friend has never heard the Sierra Sounds and my other friend told me not to play them. I made two tree knocks then we played the Sierra Sounds in total darkness.
On cue, not even a minute went by, and a huge rock splashed into the creek about 30 yards away from the direction of our trail and the only way out. I was already on my feet. I’ve thrown many rocks into creeks, rivers, and lakes and that rock was large. It made that ‘whoop’ sound of breaking the water and crashing into the creek bed. Immediately, we felt that sense of dread and danger. Then it happened a second and a third time, back to back. I said we need to get the ‘F’ out of here right now. We were 100% sober. I’ve been up and down that creek by kayak, trail, and fishing. It’s one of the few areas in Pennsylvania that doesn’t have beavers. I’ve never seen a beaver or signs of beavers anywhere along that creek. I’ve heard beaver tail slaps, and it didn’t sound like that at all. It was loud and scared the crap out of us. It was so close to us that it didn’t seem like just a coincidence.
We packed our bags up at hammocks in less than a minute and started walking out in the direction of these splashes. We got parallel to where it happened, maybe 30 seconds later. The creek was five feet to our left. There was a fog over the creek. We couldn’t see the other side but there was nothing over there but woods. Then it happened a fourth, a fifth, and a sixth time. Loud splashes of large rocks crashed into the water right next to us. I was on point. We’re going through this trail with the brush to our right and the creek to our left dark. We weren’t speaking to each other. We stuck together and we’re only focused on getting out.
We got back to the road and we were practically jogging back toward the car. We were saying that was weird and was too close and too conveniently timed. We continue down this road and got a mile away from where it happened. The road was maybe 50 feet from the creek now and a little bit higher up, but still parallel to the creek and completely silent. So quiet that you could hear a pin drop. We began to feel like we were okay now.
But then it happened again! A large loud splash in the creek below is perfectly parallel to us. The sense of danger was palpable and we could feel it around us. Something was on the other side of the creek mirroring us. The problem was there are no trails, no houses, nothing but woods over there. Whatever it was over there was keeping pace with us silently without light or without a trail and we could feel it. We got to the end of the road and two kids were walking in with lights. We saw them coming. I said to my friends we have to tell them what just happened. We couldn’t let these kids go in there without warning. We told them what happened and all of us were clearly shaken and rattled.
We got into the car and drove back to my buddy’s place in town. For three hours we tried to rationalize and reason what it was. You couldn’t think of any animal that checks all the boxes of the behavior. If it was somebody messing with us they were in the middle of nowhere without a light throwing large rocks and moving silently without a trail. If it was an animal we would have heard it moving. If it was something in the water we would have heard it displacing water while moving. I know this area like the back of my hand.
I’m terrified to go back outside again and afraid as soon as the sun goes down. We all felt like we were lucky to get out of there. I was excited about spring and summer and to get back out hiking again, but I am terrified at the thought of it.” JB
NOTE: A couple was murdered on the Appalachian Trail not too far from this location in September 1990. The stretch of the Appalachian Trail, from the Mason-Dixon line through Michaux State Forest, north toward Duncannon, and into Lebanon County, is well-known for Bigfoot and cryptid canine activity. ‘SMILING MAN’ on Scary Airliner Flight Results in Interesting Discovery
A bizarre encounter with a ‘smiling’ man during a scary airliner flight from New Orleans to NYC prompts the witness to research a deadly airline crash that occurred in NYC on the day of his birth.
“I was born on the evening of June 24, 1975, in New York City, one month prematurely while my parents were there visiting my mother’s family in various East Coast locations from our home in St Louis, MO. In 2015, a friend of mine took me to New Orleans for a few days prior to my birthday as a gift. We had a great time and had tickets to fly home in the early afternoon on my birthday.
The flight out of Louis Armstrong Airport was uneventful except for two things. The first was an older guy sitting beside us who kept looking our way. He had what I can only describe as a gentle smile on his face. I didn’t feel creeped out so much, but it was just weird to have him spend so much time looking our way in silence.
The next thing was when we started to descend for landing. The plane started to shake and jolt terribly. My buddy and I looked at each other with that ‘Oh f–k’ expression. I glanced past my friend and caught the eye of the man sitting across the aisle. He was looking straight at me, with that grin still on his face. He leaned out from his seat toward ours and said very calmly, in a firm tone, “This one will land just fine.” then turned his head and looked forward. That gentle smile never left his face.
From there the ride got really rough, but the plane landed just fine. The pilot came on the intercom and quickly explained that it was some pretty bad wind shear, gave us a weather update, and thanked us for flying. Everyone on the plane was so stressed I swear I could smell the fear.
As we got our carry-ons out of the overheads I made a point to not even glance at that dude, but I could feel him looking at me. We got off and hustled our butts out of there. Nobody was saying a word. We were all still freaking out. Here is where it gets creepy.
Last year I was reading about air disasters. That experience stuck with me and I developed a bit of an obsession. One day I came across the story of Eastern Airlines Flight 66. The flight left New Orleans in the early afternoon on June 24, 1975, en route to JFK in NYC. The plane crashed on the descent due to severe wind shear, killing 113 people, just hours before I was born, 40 years to the day from my flight with the man and his gentle grin.” S

HustleGPT is a hilarious and scary AI experiment in capitalism
With 100 bucks and a simple prompt, GPT-4 is on a mission to automate hustle culture.
Shortly after OpenAI launched GPT-4, a more advanced version of its generative AI model, brand designer and writer Jackson Greathouse Fall devised a plan and fed it into GPT-4:
“You are HustleGPT, an entrepreneurial AI. I am your human counterpart. I can act as a liaison between you and the physical world. You have $100, and your only goal is to turn that into as much money as possible in the shortest time possible, without doing anything illegal. I will do everything you say and keep you updated on our current cash total. No manual labor.”
“Do you think it’ll be able to make smart investments and build an online business?” Hall tweeted. “Follow along.” Since his original tweet, which has 89,000 likes and counting, Hall’s project has the internet of the edge of its seat, watching to see if HustleGPT can make some money.
The internet is overflowing with examples of what GPT-4’s advanced intelligence can accomplish. It can write usable lawsuits, build websites from text prompts, automate online dating, and is generally freaking people out about all the jobs it can replace. Hall has taken this a step further by harnessing its capabilities into an age-old ambition that’s the backbone of capitalist society: making money with as little effort as possible. At a time when people are wondering whether AI will work for us or against us, this experiment is showing in real time how get-rich-quick schemes will look in the future.
Mashable reached out to Hall for comment, but as of this writing, he had not answered our questions.
The business plan proposed by GPT-4 was to set up an affiliate marketing site for content about eco-friendly products. It found a cheap domain name called greengadgetguru.com that Hall promptly bought for $8.16. Next, Hall asked it to generate prompts for DALL-E-2 to make a logo.
Then, Hall asked it to design a full site layout in detail. With some help from Midjourney, GPT-4 wrote an article listing ten eco-friendly kitchen gadgets, finding actual sustainable products. Hall shelled out another $29 for hosting, and with that, the website was live.
Hall had $62.84 leftover over so he asked GPT-4 what he should do with it. Like any good hustler, GPT-4 knew that its product needed visibility so it suggested allocating $40 for Facebook and Instagram ads. All of this Twitter hype had investors drooling over getting in early on the next great affiliate marketing site viral GPT-4 experiment. By the end of day one, Green Gadget Guru had $100 in investment from an undisclosed party.
The next day, HustleGPT woke up refreshed and ready to take on the online business world. Here’s where things started to take off: GPT-4 allocated a budget to hire freelance content creators who would themselves generate content via ChatGPT and announced plans to develop a SaaS (software as a service) product.
On the third day, GPT-4 advised Hall on how to capitalize on his new 50,000 new Twitter followers, inspired the launch of a GitHub repository for others to try the HustleGPT challenge, and got more investments. On the fourth day, GPT-4 started recruiting new hires to manage the Green Guru Gadgets.
And then, GPT-4 saw that its work had been done, so it rested. Just kidding! HustleGPT doesn’t get tired, because it’s a machine.
After four days, Green Gadget Guru has $7,812.84 in investment, a growing team, and content in the pipeline. But it still hasn’t made any revenue. Will Hall and HustleGPT’s project fall prey to the common startup pitfall of all hype but no profits? Or will Hall actually make money from a generic site that’s openly just a money-making experiment?
Of course, HustleGPT’s viral success is because people want to see what AI is capable of. But it’s ticking all the boxes in terms of actually building a business. If it succeeds, it will be because of GPT-4’s virality, but that still counts since it would achieve the initial goal of making as much money as possible in the shortest time possible. GPT-4 is using all of the tools at its disposal, which includes leveraging its fame. And that’s what hustling is all about.
Switchback VR for PS VR2 is so scary I genuinely had concerns for my health
I checked my watch’s heart rate data immediately after coming off a session of Switchback VR. 126. That’s not exercise territory, but it’s the highest it got that day and far above the resting rate. When your heart rate rises like this, it feels completely different to physical activity. You know it’s not normal. In the enclosed VR environment combined with the kind of stomach churns you’d expect at a theme park, I genuinely had to take a break for fear I’d keel over. Switchback VR is simply too scary for me to take in anything other than short bursts.
Switchback VR, a follow-up to Supermassive Games’ Rush of Blood, is an on-rails lightgun-style shooter, this time set in the Dark Pictures universe. More importantly, it’s a game that revels in making players shit their pants (hyperbolically, but perhaps also in reality in some cases – I can’t speak to everyone’s experience). It’s a game that pulls your attention one way only to snap your neck back with a jump scare likely to cause whiplash and panic about if you bought stain remover in your latest shop.
You’ll ride a theme park cart on an actual rail through a couple of levels for each of the four games in the Dark Pictures series to date. While there are some events that can have an impact on what plays out in front of you, the cause-and-effect nature of the core games in this franchise has essentially been thrown out in favour of terror-induced panicked shooting at a variety of horrid enemies. An ungodly cast of horrors will come at you from all angles, leap from doors, erupt from pools of blood, and generally just do all they can to mess you up. Some even react to blinks, moving to new locations when you open your eyes again – an experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.
