Disney+ continues its crackdown on password sharing, this time for US subscribers
Those of you in the US using your friend’s Disney Plus account will soon have to get your own account, as plans to crackdown on password sharing have been set in motion.
Well, the time is finally coming. Yesterday, as reported by The Verge, Disney Plus has started sending out emails to US subscribers letting them know about changes to its terms of service – the main thing being that it’ll be a lot harder to share your account with friends and family. A trend that started with Netflix, these days if you want to watch anything on the streaming giant, you need your own account, as it can now recognise if you’re in the same household or not. This annoying change is being introduced to US Disney Plus subscribers now too, with the terms of service having been dated to January 25, and going into effect March 14. Best get your Simpsons binge watch in now.
“You agree not to impersonate or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity, including using another person’s username, password or other account information, or another person’s name or likeness, or provide false details for a parent or guardian,” the new agreement terms read. The email also explains that the streaming service is “adding limitations on sharing your account outside of your household, and explaining how we may assess your compliance with these limitations.”
Twitter now lets Blue subscribers upload two-hour videos
Twitter now lets Twitter Blue subscribers upload videos that are two hours long, and I’ve already seen somebody try to share what appeared to be the full version of Shrek the Third in the comments of owner Elon Musk’s announcement tweet. (The video has since been taken down.)
Videos will be at 1080p resolution and must have an 8GB file size or smaller. The longer two-hour video uploads are also only available if you’re uploading from the web or iOS, according to a support document. If you’re on Android, you’re currently limited to posting videos that are 10 minutes long at most. Despite those limits, I imagine that Shrek the Third won’t be the only full movie to make it onto Twitter; a lot of people recently watched the entirety of The S…
Apple offers a free one-month trial of MLS Season Pass to new and returning subscribers
Apple has begun offering a free one-month trial for MLS Season Pass. The promotion is available in every country where you can sign up for the streaming package, and both new and returning monthly subscribers can take advantage. Apple says the offer will remain available through the end of October, meaning it roughly overlaps with what’s left of the MLS season. After the trial is over, your subscription will automatically renew, unless you cancel it beforehand. MLS Season Pass costs $15 per month. If you’re an Apple TV customer, you’ll get a discounted rate of $13 per month.
It’s worth noting the Apple TV app isn’t limited to Apple devices. You can also install it on Roku devices, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Chromecast, Amazon Fire devices, Android TV, cable streaming boxes (including those from Comcast and Verizon) and smart TVs from Samsung, Vizio, Sony, LG and Panasonic.

Disney Plus Reduces Streaming Business Losses By $400 Million Despite Losing 4 Million Subscribers
According to a newly released earnings report, Disney+ experienced a decline in subscribers for the second consecutive quarter in the first three months of 2023, with 4 million customers dropping the service. The company had also seen a decline in subscribers at the end of 2022.
However, there was some positive news for the company, as they reported a reduction in streaming business losses by $400 million, which is a 26% year-over-year decrease.
At the end of the first quarter of 2023, Disney+ had 157.8 million subscribers, which Variety clocked as lower than Wall Street’s anticipated 163.17 million. The decline in subscribers was driven by a sequential drop of 4.6 million in Disney+ Hotstar, the version of the service available in India and Southeast Asia.
