Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Story Recap Video Will Get You Ready For Tears Of The Kingdom
The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom finally releases soon, and it serves as a direct continuation of Breath Of The Wild’s story. Given that it’s been more than six years since Breath of the Wild released in 2017, you’re forgiven if you have some trouble recalling all the details of that game’s events. Don’t worry, as we have a recap of the game’s story for you to enjoy.
In the 15-minute video below, narrator Adam Mason explains the events of the game. It all starts with the the forming of Calamity Ganon 10,000 years in the past, with four Divine Beasts and an army of Guardian automotons created by the Sheikah helping seal him away. From there, it proceeds to 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, and how Link and Zelda worked together with the four champions to prepare for the Great Calamity.
This all leads to the unfortunate downfall of Link, Zelda, and the four champions, with Link being sealed underground for his wounds to heal. 100 years later, Link wakes up and proceeds to explore the post-apocalyptic Hyrule, eventually regaining his memories, defeating the four Divine Beasts, and rebuilding himself to take another shot at Ganon. The game ends with our heroes finally overcoming Calamity Ganon seemingly once and for all, but with the incredible task of rebuilding Hyrule still ahead of them.
Why the mysterious love affair between video games and giant elevators may begin with Akira
It’s funny how some aspects of game design are so ubiquitous that we stop questioning them, or even noticing them. After decades spent playing video games, I know that if I look behind the waterfall, there’s likely to be some sort of shiny goodie to collect. If I head left rather than right at the start of a level, I’m bound to find a juicy secret. There are conventions. Traditions. I can’t remember a time when games didn’t have giant lifts – and yet, I’m not entirely sure why they’re there. I’m not talking about the regular kind of lifts that you pile into, usually at the end of a level, to transition from one part of the game to another; those ones have historically been used to hide lengthy loading times, like the interminably long lifts of Mass Effect.
What I mean is the lifts that are essentially tennis-court-sized moving platforms, usually with little more than a flimsy guard rail around the edge to stop elevator enjoyers from plunging down the shaft. Even more specifically, I’m talking about the diagonally moving elevators that trundle slowly into the depths, often to some nefarious laboratory. There’s a good example in the Resident Evil 2 remake, where you fight the final boss on an inclined elevator as it slowly, ever so slowly, descends towards the train that will grant your escape. So where did these giant elevators come from? And why do developers keep putting them in their games? I set out to answer both questions, and went somewhere unexpected.

Wii Sports gets the respect it deserves by joining the video game hall of fame
This year’s World Video Game Hall of Fame additions include none other than Wii Sports, as it deserves (and yeah, The Last of Us too, I guess).
There are constant questions over what the best game ever made is. Some suggest Chrono Trigger, others posit The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or maybe even Final Fantasy 7. But everyone who says that is wrong, as it’s actually Wii Sports. And thankfully, the Strong National Museum of Play has added the classic title to its World Video Game Hall of Fame, alongside a number of other games, as the organisation announced last week.
Wii Sports isn’t the only important title to be added to the lineup this year though, as it comes alongside three other games that are also worthy of such a status. For one, there’s Barbie Fashion Designer, a PC game released in1996 that targeted young girls as opposed to other games of the time that were marketed towards boys. “Published by Digital Domain/Mattel Media, it proved that a computer game targeted to girls could succeed, selling more than 500,000 copies in two months,” reads the game’s description on the Strong Museum’s website.

Skywind shines in this stunning gameplay video showcasing the Morrowind mod project
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind recently celebrated its 21st anniversary, and the folks behind the Skywind have released a new gameplay video for the total conversion mod.
The 20-minute video shows off the Necromancer in Mawia quest, where you act as an agent of the Tribunal Temple over in Molag Amur. The Morrowind mission showcases re-imagined assets, level design ideas, and more immersive dialogue and scripted sequences.
Because the project is still in the works, you may notice gaps, missing dialogue, floating objects, or placeholders from Skyrim included in the video.
