Diablo Immortal monk players dominate the meta as whales change class
Diablo Immortal monk players are dominating the PvP meta right now, causing the game’s highest-spending whales to change class in the Blizzard RPG game as they strive to get every advantage possible over other players. While every class can be viable for general play and even in competitive matchmaking, the game’s community seems in agreement that the best Diablo Immortal builds running roughshod over Battlegrounds multiplayer come from monks.

Smart buoy ‘hears’ the sea to protect whales against ship collisions
Whales face numerous threats from humans, not the least of which are ship collisions — the World Sustainability Organization estimates 18,000 to 25,000 animals die each year. There may be a technological way to minimize those deaths, however. Reutersreports Chile’s government and the MERI Foundation have deployed the first smart buoy from the Blue Boat Initiative, an effort to both safeguard whales and track undersea ecosystems. The device, floating in the Gulf of Corcovado 684 miles away from Chile, alerts ships to nearby blue, humpback, right and sei whales to help avoid incidents.
The technology uses oceanographic sensors and AI-powered Listening to the Deep Ocean Environment (LIDO) software to determine a waterborne mammal’s type and location. It also checks the ocean’s health by monitoring oxygen levels, temperature and other criteria. That extra data could help study climate change and its impact on sea life.
The Blue Boat Initiative currently aims to install six or more buoys to protect whales across the gulf. In the long term, though, project members hope to blanket the whales’ complete migratory route between Antarctica and the equator. This could reduce collisions across the creatures’ entire habitat, not to mention better inform government decisions about conservation and the environment.
The technology may be as important for humans as for the whales. On top of their roles in delicately balanced ecosystems, whales both help capture CO2 and redistribute heat through ocean currents. The more these animals are allowed to flourish, the better the ocean is at limiting global warming and its harmful effects.

Diablo Immortal whales face massive orb debt after third-party refunds
Many Diablo Immortal whales – players who have spent hundreds or thousands of dollars in Blizzard’s fantasy game – are finding themselves left with massive in-game ‘debt’ after purchases made through third-party websites are revoked. Diablo Immortal’s Eternal Orbs are one of the primary currencies in the RPG game, are bought with real money, and can then be spent on various purchases in the in-game store on cosmetic items, the Diablo Immortal legendary crests used to get legendary gems from the Elder Rifts, and reforge stones used to reroll equipment bonuses.
Purchasing Eternal Orbs can cost anywhere from $0.99 USD / £0.89 GBP for just 60 up to the most expensive bundle, which offers 7200 Eternal Orbs for $99.99 USD / £89.99 GBP. For context, eternal legendary crests will set you back 160 Eternal Orbs per crest, while cosmetics tend to run between 1,000 and 1,650 Eternal Orbs depending on their category. As a result, some players say they have turned to third-party sellers offering cheap deals on orbs, with some quoting deals offering the 7200 orb bundle for prices ranging from $10-50 USD.
It appears that time has been called on many players who took advantage of these deals, however. Multiple threads on the game’s subreddit are reporting that huge numbers of players who purchased Eternal Orbs through third party sellers are now finding their accounts displaying a negative orb value when logging into the game. This typically happens when a user has refunded their in-game purchases, such as through a storefront like Apple’s App Store or the Google Play Store or through their payment provider.

Ancient megalodon was so massive it could’ve snacked on killer whales, scientists say
We’re going to need a bigger boat — maybe something like a cruise ship.
Scientists recently discovered just how massive an ancient shark might’ve been. It is freaking staggering. The otodus megalodon — you know, the infamous meg you’ve likely heard of — was so large it could have snacked on orcas, colloquially known as killer whales. That’s according to a new study, published in Science Advances, that made a 3D model of what the shark likely looked like by using an “exceptionally well-preserved fossil.”
In short, and I’m taking some liberties here, the researchers concluded the megalodon was an absolute unit that was the unquestioned master of the entire ocean.
“We estimate that an adult O. megalodon could cruise at faster absolute speeds than any shark species today and fully consume prey the size of modern apex predators,” the researchers wrote.
Just how big the megalodon was is pretty difficult to comprehend. The shark, which cruised Earth 23 to 2.6 million years ago, likely could’ve swallowed a large great white in a single bite. Researchers think a large megalodon grew up to 20 meters long. That’s a shark nearly the size of an 18-wheeler. It could eat the largest current-day killer whale (around 26 feet) in five quick bites, one of the researchers wrote.
The new 3D model was an important step forward in researching the megalodon, which has remained somewhat of a mystery to scientists. Their bodies were largely made of cartilage, which means fossils — except for massive teeth — are rare. But now we have a better picture of just how massive, and impressive, the ancient animals really were.
