The Greggs fanatic, from Middlesbrough, celebrated his achievement by getting a tattoo dedicated to the iconic pastry chain.
Sitting in front of 48 sausage rolls at the start of the challenge, John munched his way through nearly half the stack on his way to food-eating history.
John told Teesside Live: “I’ve always loved sausage rolls, after swimming as a kid I always used to have one with tomato sauce and they just remind me of my childhood.

“I actually scolded my mouth on the first one which kind of helped me push through the first lot as the heat didn’t affect me after that.”
John is still awaiting official confirmation of his record, but he decided to get the tattoo anyway to show his “love for Greggs sausage rolls” and his passion for sausage roll eating.
