DEAR DEIDRE: THE teacher of my class would punish the boys by getting them to bend over the desk and then he would whack us extremely hard on our legs and bottoms.
This happened to me and my classmates on a regular basis from when I was 12.
I’ve never forgotten it and it’s always bothered me. I’m 57 now.
Your school days are supposed to be the happiest days of your life, but he made mine a nightmare.
I feel that this was abuse as I know teachers were not allowed to punish children in this way, even back then.

I know it was a long time ago, but do I have a case to make a claim for abuse against the local authority?
