I’m a flight attendant and here is the best seat to book on the plane – but it comes with a risk
A FLIGHT attendant has revealed the most comfortable seat to book on a plane, but said it could come with a problem of its own.
A former British Airways cabin crew member, known as Sam, has explained where you can get the most leg room on an aircraft.

Sitting at the front of the plane could increase your chances of sitting next to a child[/caption]
He said that opting to sit in the aisle seat at the front of the plane, you’ll be able to stretch your legs out more than if you were sat anywhere else.
However, Sam also warned that sitting there could increase your chances of having a sleepless flight.
She told the Express: “If you book the middle aisle front row on a long-haul flight, you might get some extra leg room.”
Stretching out isn’t the only perk to the seats either, with those sitting in them also likely to get food service first, since cabin crew will often serve their passengers from the front of the plane to the back.

But the seats aren’t aren’t perfect, as Sam explained: “You’re more than likely to be sat next to a baby.
“This is because this seat has a fold down table for cots/bassinets for babies to sleep instead of on someone’s lap for the whole flight.”
Some airlines have made it easier to avoid sitting next to kids on planes.
Japan Airlines has a feature where passengers can check where babies are sitting on a flight.

The website shows where any child aged between eight days and two-years-old is sat.
Meanwhile, if turbulence makes you nervous then try to grab a seat in the middle of the plane near the wings, and avoid the back of the plane.
According to pilot Jonny Knowlson: “If you’re looking for the smoothest ride, did you know sitting over the wings on a big aircraft that flies at a higher altitude will work in your favour?
“Being closer to the centre of the plane’s mass while forces such as lift, torque, wind, gravity, drag and thrust act upon it will mean you’ll be well placed for a smooth ride.”

What your dreams reveal about your anxiety and the themes to look out for
GETTING to sleep can be hard work – especially for those who suffer with anxiety.
It can leave your head spinning as you try and enter the land of nod, and many are likely to suffer sleepless nights.

Many people suffer with anxiety and experts have now said it can show up in your dreams[/caption]
But experts have now revealed that your dreams could hold the key when it comes to measuring your levels of anxiety.
Medics at the University of Düsseldorf said those who suffer are likely to have different dreams to people who don’t experience the condition.
Writing in the journal Dreaming, the gurus found that there were three distinct themes present in those with anxiety.
The most common were emotionally intense dreams, speed imagery and dreaming of a former partner or love interest.

Other frequent dreams included being chased or attacked, being frozen with fright, or accidents such as plane crashes.
The experts also found the participants with anxiety were less likely to have positive interactions with others they come across in their dreams.
Lead author and psychologist Anton Rimsh said their findings show that people living with anxiety have ‘intense dreams’.
He said: “We can assume that the presence of an anxiety disorder instigates a higher overall subjective intensity of dream experiences and dream imagery.

“In accordance with this notion, we concluded that the dream contents in anxiety patients not only exist in large numbers, but also are experienced by them with a particularly high subjective intensity and emphasis.”
The experts analysed data from two different groups of people.
There were 38 people in each group, with one group having anxiety and the other not.
Medics tracked the participants through the use of dream diaries, along with questionnaires and one-on-one dream analysis.
When the information was gathered experts then compared the two sets of results.
They also found that people with anxiety also experienced more negative emotions during their snooze.
These included feelings of anger, fear and sadness.
The symptoms of anxiety you need to know
According to Anxiety UK, the signs of anxiety can be divided into physical and psychological symptoms.
You may not experience all of them, but physical symptoms include:
- Racing heartbeat
- Shortness of breath
- Chest tightness
- Dry mouth
- Butterflies in stomach
- Nausea
- Urge to pass urine/empty bowels
- Tremor
- Sweating
- Pins and needles
Meanwhile, the psychological symptoms include:
- Inner tension
- Agitation
- Fear of losing control
- Dread that something catastrophic is going to happen (such as blackout, seizure, heart attack or death)
- Irritability
- Feelings of detachment
The symptoms of panic attacks can feel similar to a heart attack – as they often involve rapid breathing, chest pains and pins and needles
Many people suffer with anxiety and it’s thought that five per cent of all Brits suffer from a generalised form of the illness.
Feelings of anxiety can be completely normal, but some can struggle with their worries.
There are also a number of different types of anxiety disorder, from generalised anxiety to obsessive compulsive disorder, specific phobias and panic disorders.
Some people may suffer from more than one type of anxiety disorder – for example, people with a specific phobia might experience panic as a result.
As with any mental health condition, people often feel isolated, alone and ashamed of how they are feeling – concerned that they are the only person in the world to struggle in this way.
If you know someone has said that they suffer from anxiety – or you suspect they do – the best thing you can do it be there for them.

Brits heading to Spain warned of new beach restrictions due to drought
COSTA del Sol council chiefs are starting to turn off beach showers at the height of the summer because of the worsening drought affecting southern Spain.
From today they will be closed in three municipalities in the eastern stretch of the famous coastline – Rincon de la Victoria, Velez-Malaga and Algarrobo.

Showers are to be turned off across a number of beaches in Spain due to the drought[/caption]
Foot washes only will continue to function in the first two council areas alone.
This means Brits on holiday in Andalusia and Malaga will be subject to the new restrictions.
Velez-Malaga mayor Antonio Moreno Ferrer admitted: “It’s not an easy decision to take at the height of summer with our beaches full of locals and visitors and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this can cause.
“But we’re facing a critical situation and any measure that can help to lessen the effects of the drought has to be adopted, starting with local councils setting an example.”

Rincon de la Victoria mayor Francisco Salado, confirming 57 beach showers in his municipality would be affected by the shutdown, added: “We know this measure is unpopular but it’s extremely necessary.”
The shower closures come after it emerged a reservoir in La Vinuela north-east of Malaga which supplies 14 municipalities in the area is at just 13.4 per cent of its capacity.
It is forecast to drop to below its record low of 9.2 per cent of its capacity by the end of September with the current high temperatures afflicting Spain and lack of rain.
Juanma Moreno, president of the regional Junta de Andalucia government, warned Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez about the serious drought situation southern Spain is going through during a meeting last week.

He told Mr Sanchez services linked to tourism were among the two main economic sectors being affected.
The Junta president described the situation as “extremely worrying” and said it could become dramatic if the dry and hot weather continues.
This July is expected to be officially declared in the next few days as Spain’s hottest on record after temperatures of 40C became the norm in many parts of the south of the country.
Last month Sanxenxo Council near Pontevedra in Galicia, a region of Spain famed for its rain, announced it was closing down its beach foot washes to save on water.
Brit holidaymakers have already been warned Menorca could run out of water following a massive surge in visitors and extreme 33C heat.
It’s not the only rule change being introduced at beaches in Spain.
Tourists who smoke on any of Barcelona’s 10 beaches now face fines after a ban on lighting up on the sand was approved.
The number of beaches where smoking is banned in Spain has jumped from around 15 in the summer of 2014 to around 550 at present.
They include 13 beaches in the Malaga province stretch of the Costa del Sol and seven in Majorca.

Spain has also confirmed other regulations that could affect Brits hoping to holiday there this summer, including this rule about how much money you need to enter the country.
If you fancy a cheap holiday to Spain, we’ve found a number of deals to the country from holiday giants like Jet2 Holidays, TUI, easyJet Holidays and Thomas Cook, with prices from £31pp a night.

BOXING fans all said the same thing after seeing the Iranian Hulk’s dreadful display in the ring.
The social media sensation – who was due to fight Brit Martyn Ford earlier this year – finally made his boxing debut on the latest Wicked N’ Bad card in Dubai.

Gharibi ended up slumped in the corner[/caption]
Hulk – real name Sajad Gharibi – locked horns with fellow behemoth Kazakh Titan but looked incredibly tiny in comparison to his photos on social media.
And Gharibi’s lack of experience and preparation for the short-notice bout was evident from the get-go.
The 30-year-old could barely throw a punch and showed absolutely no defence in the first round – in which he repeatedly turned his back to his opponent.
The ref gave Gharibi a time-out in the first and the Iranian briefly traded blows with his rival after the brief intermission.

But he soon found himself slumped in the corner after being dropped by a right hand from Titan – real name Almat Bakhytovich – which prompted the ref to wave off the contest.
Footage of Gharibi’s bout travelled quickly on social media and fight fans didn’t hold back with their opinions.
One said: “Somebody please pay Iranian Hulk to never step foot inside a boxing ring again.”
Another said: “No wonder this bloke pulled out of fighting Ford absolute shambles.”

And another said: “Did they even give him a camp?”
One remarked: “Jesus… I don’t want to know what Ford would have done to him had they actually fought!?”
Another chimed in: “I’m so glad he didn’t fight Martyn ford. Martyn ford would have killed him with one hit.”
One even joked: “I heard that the Iranian Hulk gassed out thinking about the ring walk.
“Can we stop hyping up this man please…I beg.”
Gharibi was embarrassed by his display, saying: “I have nothing to say but I am ashamed and I apologise to the Iranian people.”

The Iranian Hulk was ashamed with his disply[/caption]
His coach said after the fight: “I just wanted to five a brief explanation about the fight.
“The fight was set before Sajad came to me and he signed the contract.
“There was no way to cancel it unless he paid a big fine for the cancellation.
“We had a bad situation. Sajad came to Tehran for his training [but] we had a financial problem, the sponsor didn’t keep their word.
“In short, Sajad trained with me for only two weeks and I told him he was not ready to fight.
“But I had to be with him because he had to fight and somebody had to coach him.

“His opponent was the same level as Sajad but Sajad couldn’t do much, I am so sorry.
“I tried to help him but we had a really short time for it. I hope we can fix it in the future.”
Gareth Bale’s new team-mate reveals Welshman ‘only wants to speak Spanish’ despite claims while at Real Madrid
SPANISH media often suggested Gareth Bale could not be bothered to learn their lingo – but apparently he is more than happy to hablo espanol.
The Welshman won five Champions League trophies and just about everything else during his nine-year spell at Real Madrid – but never really won over all of their fans.

The rocky relationship was not helped when Bale held up a banner which read ‘Wales, Golf, Madrid – In that order’, after he led his country to Euro 2020 qualification in 2019.
But this summer’s switch to MLS-side Los Angeles FC appears to have reignited the 33-year-old’s passion for club football.
On Saturday he made his home debut as a sub as they came from behind to beat Seattle Sounders and go seven points clear at the top of the Western Conference.
Former Italy and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini also made his home LA bow.

Now Bale’s new Barcelona-born team-mate Ilie Sanchez has rejected claims he is not enthusiastic about speaking Spanish.
The former 1860 Munich midfielder, 31, told Diario AS: “Gareth speaks to me in Spanish.
“I am the only Spanish one, but there are many South Americans and Central Americans in the squad.
“And he only wants to speak Spanish with us.

“In fact, sometimes we speak to him in English and he responds to us in Spanish!”
Bale’s commitment levels were also questioned at the La Liga giants, but Sanchez added: “When you see he is your colleague, that makes us push a little more to compete and to try to win.
“And everything we have seen and felt with him has been pure commitment. He wants to help us to win titles.”

Newcastle have reportedly had a bid rejected for Leeds star Jack Harrison[/caption]
Eddie Howe’s side have already made three additions to the squad this summer.
They have snapped up goalkeeper Nick Pope, defender Sven Botman as well turning Matt Targett’s loan move into a permanent transfer.
Now Newcastle are looking for attacking reinforcements and have been linked with the Leeds star for several weeks.
Foot Mercato are now stating that they have made a formal approach for Harrison.

They claim that Toon have bid £33.5m for the ex-Manchester City ace.
However, that offer was quickly rejected.
And Leeds are only willing to do business if they receive a minimum of £40m.
Former England U21 international Harrison scored the decisive goal as Leeds scraped Premier League survival over Brentford last season.

He only signed for the Elland Road outfit for £10m last summer from Man City.
But his dazzling displays have seen the Englishman’s stock more than treble over the past 12 months.
Leeds’ refusal to do business will be a huge blow to Toon boss Howe who’s desperate to add some firepower to his attack.
The uber-wealthy Saudi-owned side struggled for goals last season, and Howe wants to avoid a repeat scenario this time around.
