Last week, Beyonce made history when ‘Break My Soul’ – the first single from her seventh solo chart-topping album ‘Renaissance’ – blasted to #1 on the Hot 100 (as we reported here).
This week the refreshed edition of the tally reveals her reign has been extended to a second week.
Details inside:
Although its parent album slipped to #3 on this week’s Billboard 200, ‘Break My Soul’ is holding strong atop the Hot 100 – fending off competition from the likes of BTS, Drake, Lizzo, Future, and more.
Here are the numbers that powered her stay.
- Streaming: 14.5 million U.S.-based streams
- Digital Downloads: 36,000 U.S.-based sales
- Radio Airplay: 65.2 million audience impressions
As expected, the grip on the top spot was tightened in great part due to the “Queens Remix” of ‘Soul,’ which features a prominent interpolation of Madonna‘s iconic 1990 #1 hit ‘Vogue.’
However, because the Madge-assisted version did not account for the majority of the hit’s consumption over the last week the Pop Queen is not credited alongside Bey in the top spot. What’s more, presence of ‘Soul’ was boosted by six alternate forms during the tracking week (Honey Dijon, Nita Aviance club mix; an a cappella version, instrumental versions, and Terry Hunter and will.i.am remixes).
The eighth tune of the 40-year-old’s solo career to own the throne of the hitlist, ‘Break’ comes as her first placed on the Pop chart’s perch by her lonesome since 2008’s ‘Single Ladies.’
