VIDEO: Dark, slithering creature seen by boat captain near NC coast stirs debate
MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Alligator, whale – or Loch Ness Monster? A video of a dark creature swimming near the coast of southeastern North Carolina had viewers debating online about what it could possibly be.
Charter boat Captain Daniel Griffee captured the video which was shared on the Chasin Tails Outdoors Bait & Tackle Facebook page on Jan.3. Since then, the 43-second video has been seen over 123,000 times.
“Something you don’t see everyday…. WHALES or the LOCH NESS MONSTER in the Port this morning, never seen one inside the inlet like this!” the shop wrote.
The clip shows the creature appearing to ‘slither’ through the waters inside the Port of Morehead City and surfacing at times.
Some viewers claim it looks like an alligator when it comes out of the water.
“That’s a gator. You can see the eyes are on top of its head,” one viewer said.
“Now THAT is STRANGE. Odd-looking head for sure.”
“It’s a manatee,” another person guessed.
“Definitely a Loch Ness monster. I saw 2 the same day I saw Bigfoot walking a black panther on a leash,” one person joked.
Thankfully, Captain Griffee put the rumors to rest: he identified it as a right whale calf that got lost from its mother swimming around the port.
“Wasn’t sure at first, thought it was a group of dolphins splashing around until it swam right beside the boat,” Griffee wrote on Facebook. “I have a 22’ pathfinder that was 9 feet wide and bigger than my boat!”
NOTE: Since this was seen in seawater, I believe that there is a strong possibility that this creature is a manatee. But who knows? Lon

Monsters rise in epic trailer for ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’
1200 years before Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri crossed paths in The Witcher, the Continent was a very different place. An unstoppable empire rules with an iron fist, but that won’t stop seven valiant warriors from banding together and fighting back in Netflix’s The Witcher: Blood Origin. This prequel not only follows the Seven on their quest — it also charts the first arrivals of monsters on the Continent.
The first trailer is appropriately grandiose, introducing the Seven and their magical skills. (Check out Michelle Yeoh kicking ass!) But perhaps most surprising is the appearance of bard Jaskier (Joey Batey), centuries before he’s even alive. How does the king of Witcher bops fit into all this? We’ll have to wait until Blood Origin to find out.

Elon Musk is reportedly considering cutting more of Twitter’s workforce
Twitter may cut more of its shrinking workforce as early as Monday. According to Bloomberg, Elon Musk is considering new layoffs that would target the company’s sales and partnerships teams. The scale of the potential cuts is unclear but come after a large number of employees rejected Musk’s Twitter 2.0 ultimatum. On Friday, Musk reportedly asked Robin Wheeler, Twitter’s head of ad sales, and Maggie Suniewick, the firm’s partnerships chief, to fire more employees. Both were terminated after pushing back.
Twitter did not immediately respond to Engadget’s request for comment. The company no longer has a communications team. If Twitter moves forward with the cuts, they would come after Musk already laid off 50 percent of the company’s previously 7,500-person strong workforce. With most of the website’s contract staff gone and “at least 1,200” employees departing in the wake of Musk’s ultimatum, there are concerns that the attrition will leave parts of Twitter inoperable.
There are signs that’s already happening. On Saturday, some users noticed the platform’s automated copyright strike system wasn’t working. In one thread spotted by The Verge, someone posted the entirety of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift across nearly 50 tweets. The thread was up for about a whole day and widely shared before Twitter suspended the account responsible for posting the movie.

Why can’t pollsters reach Gen Z?
Republicans predicted a “red wave” that would crush any hopes of a Democratic majority this election cycle. But as the dust settles and vote counts wrap up, that prediction has shattered.
While Republicans saw success in states like Florida and New York, Democrats fared better in battleground states, where polls often significantly underestimated their support. On the eve of the election, FiveThirtyEight’s poll average had Dr. Mehmet Oz ahead by just half a point, only to see him lose by 4 percent in the final tally. In Michigan, the same average put incumbent Governor Gretchen Whitmer only five points ahead of her Republican challenger; but on election day, she won by more than 10 points.
