Great headboards? Check. Murano chandeliers? Check. An extremely laid-back vibe that’ll keep you lounging in the lobby all afternoon? It’s gotta be another Hoxton Hotel, and this time we’re in Rome, Italy. I was kindly invited to spend a couple of nights at The Hoxton’s 10th and most recent opening in the Italian capital, and I’m not one to turn down an excuse for pizza and pasta.
I’ve expressed my love for various Hoxton outposts here before, and relish a snoop around any of their launches. Until now, I had the softest spot for Williamsburg, but I think I’ve found a Hoxton that’s taken over top spot. The Hoxton in Rome is a 192 room hotel (although never feels that large!) with a lobby that works overtime as a cafe and bar, a restaurant, plus an outdoor terrace that does a pretty good job of transporting you to California on a sunny day.
On the site of the former Hotel Beverley Hills, The Hoxton has done it’s best to reuse furnishings as well as keeping a hold of the name- grab breakfast or lunch at Beverley, where you’ll sit amongst designs created for The Hoxton by local artists. There seems to be a magic light that fills the space no matter what time of day- it felt a little like stepping back to a rose-tinted version of mid-century Rome, helped along when you’ve got a cocktail from Cugino in hand.
The rooms will be familiar if you’ve stayed in a Hoxton elsewhere in the world. Comfy beds, big rainfall showers and a Roberts radio to sing to you as you watch the sun set from your big windows. I loved the details, from the room numbers to the wavy details found on headboards and the clothes rail.
There are multiple room categories- we got to have a snoop around each, and there isn’t too much between them, so don’t spend too long deliberating, unless you’re after one of the impressively large terraces. Each is ideal for a city break. I only hope I get to come back!
And before I go- do yourself a favour and get the Nutella croissant for breakfast! Trust me.
P.P.S- There is currently an offer when you book 2 or more nights- you’ll get 20% off the larger room categories and €50 to spend in the restaurant!
