Google Pixel Fold and 7a might be arriving in June
A long-rumored Google Pixel device may be just a few months away.
According to reports (based on retail listings) from both 9to5Google and WinFuture, Google will launch a pair of new devices in June: The Google Pixel 7a and the Pixel Fold. That would mean the devices would be in stores roughly a month after Google’s annual I/O conference, set to begin on May 10. I/O has traditionally been software-focused, but last year saw the announcements of multiple devices, like the Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch.
Curiously, launching the Pixel 7a in June would put Google a month ahead of schedule compared to previous years. The Pixel 6a hit store shelves in July last year.
Those retail listings didn’t stop with a launch date, though.
We also got a few other juicy bits of info. For starters, the leaks suggest the Pixel Fold will come in at least a 256GB storage variant, with carbon and porcelain as the color options. The 7a, meanwhile, might only come in a 128GB model with carbon, cotton, and Arctic blue as the color choices.
Sadly, we didn’t get exact price figures for either device. And aside from colors and storage, there’s still not a lot of firm info to go on about either device. Previous reporting about the Pixel Fold indicated it would unfold into a large, notepad-like display, similar to a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold device. As for the 7a, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s basically a Pixel 7 with some minor improvements and minor compromises to keep the price down. That would follow in the footsteps of every other Pixel A-series phone.
Google I/O can’t get here soon enough for Pixel-heads.

Someone obtained a whole-ass Pixel 7A before Google could even announce it
I can’t quite say it was inevitable, but — in some of the least surprising yet amusing tech news in the world — a Vietnam gadget enthusiast has managed to obtain a developer unit of the unannounced Pixel 7A smartphone.
Seriously: we called the Pixel 4 the most-leaked phone ever — and that was after multiple Russian-speaking bloggers obtained the Pixel 3 XL. The Nexus 4 was fully reviewed before it was ever announced. The Pixel 4A and Pixel 5 leaked like a sieve, and Google itself tipped the 6A in a coloring book, not unlike how it accidentally revealed the Nexus 5 in a YouTube video. The Pixel 6 got unboxed, and the Pixel 6 Pro even got a teardown before the phone launched. It’s not hard to see why Google tends to tease its gadgets…
Shockingly, the Pixel 7a will probably look a lot like the Pixel 6a
If history is anything to go on, Google won’t announce the next entry in its Pixel A series until I/O 2023. That means we could be waiting as much as six months before the company is ready to share any substantial information on the device. Of course, that’s not stopping the rumor mill from getting an early start on leaking details about the Pixel 7a.
Over on Smartprix (via XDA Developers), Steve Hemmerstoffer of OnLeaks fame has shared early renders of the upcoming device. Unsurprisingly, the images suggest the Pixel 7a will look a lot like its predecessor and Google’s 2022 flagships. According to Smartprix, the dimensions of the new device are nearly identical to the Pixel 6a, with the former reportedly coming in at 10.1mm thick at the camera bump. The phone also looks to feature relatively thin bezels, a not-so-prominent chin and a center display cutout for the selfie camera.
Notably, the renders indicate the Pixel 7a will feature a SIM tray on its left side, suggesting – at least for the time being – Google won’t follow Apple’s decision to go all in on eSIM. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the search giant has decided to bring back the headphone jack; the analog port is nowhere to be found on the Pixel 7a.
The more interesting aspects of the Pixel 7a may be features that don’t show up in renders. According to Smartprix, the phone is likely to feature a 90Hz display from Samsung and an upgraded main camera sensor from Sony. It could also be the first Pixel A series phone to feature wireless charging. That’s about all we know about the device at the moment. However, we’re certain to get a fuller picture of the Pixel 7a as more information leaks, or when Google decides to get ahead of the rumor mill like it did with the Pixel 4.
