Grim roguelike road trip Darkest Dungeon 2 is getting a 1.0 release on May 8th
Darkest Dungeon 2 has been in early access since 2021, and it’s finally taking the roadtrip to a full 1.0 PC release on May 8th. We originally thought the nail-biting roguelike would see a 1.0 release this month, but developer Red Hook haven’t left us empty-handed. Darkest Dungeon 2 currently has a demo available on Steam and the Epic Games Store until the end of Steam Next Fest on February 13th. Red Hook say the demo will feature the four starting heroes as you take them around one full region and explore either the Sprawl (city) or the Foeter (farms.)
Google is holding an event about search and AI on February 8th
Google is about to share more about its work in artificial intelligence. Next week, Google will be holding an event about how it’s “using the power of AI to reimagine how people search for, explore and interact with information, making it more natural and intuitive than ever before to find what you need,” according to an invite sent to The Verge. The 40-minute event will be streamed on YouTube on February 8th at 8:30AM ET.
The timing of the event is interesting given that Google CEO Sundar Pichai just announced that the company is planning on letting people “interact directly” with its “newest, most powerful language models as a companion to search” soon. Google, long the de facto way to find information on the internet, is likely facing…
Summer Game Fest’s first in-person show will take place on June 8th
Geoff Keighley and his team might be focused on The Game Awards, but they’re also looking ahead to their next gaming event. The fourth edition of Summer Game Fest’s live kickoff show, which will have a live audience for the first time, will take place on June 8th.
Keighley was involved with E3 for 25 years, though he backed out in early 2020 (before the Entertainment Software Association canceled that year’s edition). Three years later, the two events are set to go toe-to-toe.

The long-running expo hasn’t held an in-person event since 2019. The 2020 and 2022 editions of E3 were called off, though it went ahead as an online-only event in 2021. E3’s partner showcases start on June 11th with the in-person component of the show (which PAX operator ReedPop will run) slated for June 13th to 16th.
The Summer Game Fest showcase will take place at the 6,000-capacity YouTube Theater, a 20-minute drive from E3’s Los Angeles Convention Center home base. As ever, the former will feature world premieres, gameplay demos and other announcements. Unless you want to attend Summer Game Fest in person, you won’t need to buy a ticket as you can watch the event live on the likes of YouTube and Twitch. It’s not yet clear if publishers and studios will offer hands-on demos, as is the case at E3.
