The Pokémon Company Says It Doesn’t Have An Issue With Nuzlocke Runs, Actually
The Pokémon Company has taken the unusual step of releasing an official statement about Nuzlocke runs, in response to reports that it removed creators from its content program for engaging with them, VGC reports.
The initial report came from content creators Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang, who previously co-hosted Nintendo’s official YouTube show, Nintendo Minute. In a recent podcast episode, the duo revealed that they had pitched a Nuzlocke run for an episode of Nintendo Minute, but claimed The Pokémon Company had been strongly against it.
Nuzlocke refers to a set of punishing rules some players choose to use for Pokemon runs, including simulating permadeath every time a pokemon faints, and only allowing players to catch the first pokemon encountered in any given region.

Ikea’s Swedish House Mafia record player is actually going on sale next month

Ikea’s record player made in collaboration with music supergroup Swedish House Mafia is set to go on sale in October. The all-black device sports an unsurprisingly minimalistic look and will cost you $159.99 once it hits Ikea’s maze-like stores.
The record player is part of Ikea’s overarching Obegränsad (the Swedish word for “unlimited”) collection, which includes an equally-as-modern armchair, desk, LED work lamp, record stand, laptop stand, and shelving units, among other items. Ikea first announced the record player in June, marking the furniture maker’s second attempt at creating and selling a record player. The record player it was working on in 2018 never went on sale, but it looks like we have a much better shot of actually…
Is the iPhone 14 Pro actually ‘deep purple?’ We investigate.
![The](https://helios-i.mashable.com/imagery/articles/01vCNzBakxHm0hQGOe0KXsV/hero-image.png)
Earlier today, Apple announced that its iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would come in a new “deep purple” shade. As a purple-lover, I was intrigued. But my day has gone downhill from there.
I’ve been seeing videos of this new “deep purple” in action and I’m confused, because whatever shade it is, it’s not that. A video posted by tech extraordinaire iJustine shows a color-shifting palette of charcoals, lavenders, and periwinkles.
This iPhone 14 Pro has an identity crisis.
And I don’t just have my good taste to go on. Scroll through the quote tweets of iJustine’s video and you’ll see that we’re all collectively squinting to see where in the world Apple got “deep purple” from.
“Am I being gaslit?” said one. “This is black.” Said another, “I’m looking for the purple part??” Me too, girl. Me too.
A better name for it would be “midnight violet” or “charcoal aubergine” — colors I just made up. (Apple, I charge a reasonable consulting fee.) I would even take “space purple” as a more accurate option.
When we got our hands on the phone at Apple Park, we were even more perplexed. Our man-on-the-ground Stan Schroeder had this to say: “It’s quite subdued. It’s not screaming purple. It’s purple-ish.”
Not what I’d call a ringing endorsement, Apple.

Just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things, I color-matched the official photos of the iPhone 14 Pro that Apple released today. Are these colors actually “deep purple?” I’ll let you decide.
![Two colors of purple, one light and grey-ish, the other very very close to charcoal.](https://helios-i.mashable.com/imagery/articles/01vCNzBakxHm0hQGOe0KXsV/images-1.fill.size_2000x394.v1662587639.png)

For all the “where’s the purple?” comments on Twitter, there have also been many saying that they think the color is beautiful and couldn’t wait to buy it. I totally agree! It’s a beautiful shade.
It’s just not “deep purple.”
BioShock games’ “quality of life” updates actually break them on the Steam Deck
BioShock Remastered, BioShock 2 Remastered and BioShock Infinite have all fallen afoul of some questionably titled “quality of life” updates that publishers 2K Games released last week. These updates added a new 2K Launcher to all three BioShocks that appears when booting them up from Steam, but as found by GamingOnLinux, something about this launcher doesn’t take kindly to Linux-based operating systems. Linux-based operating systems like the Steam Deck’s SteamOS.
As it happens, then, there’s a chance – if you’re trying to play on Valve’s handheld PC – that all these updates will do is swing a bloodied 9-iron into the Deck’s ability to launch the affected games at all. Whoopsie doodle.
Shoppers are shocked to discover 18 supermarkets are actually all just Kroger in disguise
MANY shoppers are surprised to learn that more than a dozen stores across the country are actually Kroger shops.
The Kroger Family of Stores lists a total of 18 markets on its website that are related to the company, and you may recognize a few of the names.

Kroger says its story started in 1883 when Barney Kroger invested his life savings of $372 to open a grocery store in downtown Cincinnati.
His motto was: “Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself.”
More than a century later, Kroger dubs itself as the nation’s largest grocer with nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states.
“Our current practices are rooted in Barney Kroger’s early efforts to serve customers through food freshness, low prices and innovation—fundamentals that remain at the heart of our Kroger mission today,” the website says.
Another part of Kroger’s site lists the brands included as part of its Family of Stores:
- Baker’s
- City Market
- Dillons
- Food 4 Less
- Foods Co
- Fred Meyer
- Fry’s
- Gerbes
- Jay C Food Store
- King Soopers
- Mariano’s
- Metro Market
- Pay-Less Super Markets
- Pick’n Save
- QFC

The company merged with Dillon Companies Inc. in Kansas in 1983 to bring Dillon’s, King Soopers, Fry’s, City Market, and Gerbes into the Kroger family.
The biggest merger in the company’s history was in 1999 when it merged with Fred Meyer, Inc., owner of Smith’s Ralphs, Food 4 Less, and QFC.
More recent mergers include Baker’s in 2001, Harris Teeter in 2014 and Roundy’s, Pick ‘N Save, Metro Markets, and Mariano’s in 2015.
Kroger said it rakes more than $132.5billion in annual sales.
The chain is popular throughout the US and offers deals like 10 percent off on Wednesday for military members.
The discount is available every Wednesday from August 31.
In addition, Kroger introduced a new device across its stores that could end of self-checkout.
Customers have the option of using a KroGo cart, which is a buggy that comes with a built-in camera.
Shoppers can put their reusable grocery bags inside before wandering the aisles.
This allows customers to pick up and scan items before putting them into the cart.
Shoppers pay for their items using their credit or debit card directly on the cart.
