Armored Core 6 gets rated in Korea, making the wait even harder
FromSoftware’s upcoming Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has been rated in Korea, which just makes the wait even harder.
As spotted by Gematsu, the sixth entry in FromSoftware’s mech customising series has been rated in Korea. The game has received a 12+ in the region, which sounds a bit on the low end but different territories will rate things differently depending on what each country might view as appropriate or inappropriate for certain age ranges. An age rating does suggest the game is far enough into development to be rated, and it is due to be released this year, so it’s possible we could get a release date soon. A number of games have been accidentally revealed because of being rated in Korea, and typically do receive release dates quite soon after the rating comes through.
We haven’t seen anything of Armored Core 6 since it was revealed at The Game Awards last year. A report last month claimed that the game will be launching some time between September and October, apparently before the Elden Ring DLC revealed in February. Souls fans shouldn’t expect the series to just be Dark Souls with mechs, as Armored Core 6 will be sticking to its roots with mission-based gameplay and customising your mech – though it will have big boss fights for you to take on too.
Armored Core 6 reportedly releasing before Elden Ring DLC
In a report from Exputer, sources have revealed that the planned release window for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is between September and October this year.
First shown off at The Game Awards 2022, Armored Core 6 was in receipt of an epic trailer that certainly had Armored Core fans jumping out of their seats. It’s been a long-awaited comeback for many, with the last Armored Core title – Armored Core 5 – being released in 2012 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Exputer has spoken with sources close to developers, and as ever, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. It says that, “sources have now revealed that the developers have planned a release window that falls between September and October for Armored Core 6.”

Armored Core 6 developer says Dark Souls and Elden Ring “changed us”
It may have been ten years, but the classic FromSoftware mecha and robot game series is back with Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, and a producer at the studio has talked about how the experience of making soulslike games, from Dark Souls to Sekiro and Elden Ring, has “changed” the team and its level of experience, making this Armored Core game the best it can be.

Armored Core 6 is getting a lengthy showcase early next month
We’ve all been desperate for a look at Armored Core 6 gameplay since its reveal, so let’s hope we see some at a stream dedicated to it next month.
The Taipei Game Show is set to kick off February 2, and publisher Bandai Namco is set to appear at the event. Of course the upcoming title on everyone’s minds that Bandai Namco is publishing is Armored Core 6: Fires of the Rubicon, revealed at The Game Awards last month in a dramatic cinematic trailer that showed exactly zero seconds of gameplay.
A lack of gameplay in game reveals is pretty par for the course these days, but obviously we all want to see more. And hopefully we will see more at the Taipei Game Show, as Bandai Namco has scheduled a stream for February 3 that promises to be an hour long. It’s unlikely all of that will be filled with gameplay, but at such a large event, and for such a high profile game, there is a good chance we will see it in action, even if it’s just a little bit.
Armored Core 6 set for hour-long FromSoftware presentation next month
After the Armored Core 6 reveal trailer confirmed that Dark Souls, Sekiro, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne developer FromSoftware is returning to some of its robot game roots, a lot of us have been wondering how the Japanese developer plans to revive the Armored Core series, and we may just start to get some answers when it appears at a trade show soon.
