For Europe, This Upcoming German Rocket Can’t Arrive Soon Enough
German company Isar Aerospace has raised $165 million in order to ramp up the development of its Spectrum rocket, which is scheduled for its debut launch later this year. For Europeans needing access to space, the rocket’s arrival will come not a moment too soon.
CoD: Modern Warfare 2 Leak Suggests Iconic Sniper Could Arrive In Season 3
Ever since Season 2 Reloaded went live in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, data miners have been sifting through the game files for hints of what to expect with future updates. A recent leak suggests several potential weapons could arrive in Season 3, including the iconic Intervention sniper rifle.
Originally, a group of Call of Duty leakers known as Task Force Leakers 141 tweeted claims that the FR 5.56, based on the Famas, could arrive in Season 3. A follow-up tweet has included a larger list of 13 different weapons found in the game files, which could all potentially arrive sometime in Season 3 or beyond. The list shows a lot of weapons with placeholder names, but the data miners claim one of the weapons is the Intervention sniper rifle, which was originally introduced and made popular in 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.
Other notable mentions on the data mined list includes Modern Warfare 2019’s popular Kali Sticks melee weapon and Black Ops Cold War’s Tec-9 submachine gun.
Ed Sheeran and Cradle Of Filth’s long-awaited collaboration could arrive this summer
‘Lord of the Rings: Gollum’ will finally arrive on May 25th
After a particularly long incubation process, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is almost ready to ship. Daedalic has revealed that its stealth action take on JRR Tolkien’s fantasy world will be available May 25th on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is due later in the year. While the mechanics of the game are by now familiar, this still promises to be a fresh take if you weren’t enthused with the hack-and-slash of Monolith’s Middle-earth games.
You play Gollum in a previously unrecorded story of his search for (what else?) the Precious during the first few chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring. He’s clearly not a brawler, so he has to sneak and climb to survive. And crucially, the battle inside his corrupted mind plays a key role. You have to choose between giving into Gollum’s darker impulses or hanging on to the shreds of kindness from Smeagol. While this is an original tale based on the books, you’ll run into familiar characters and navigate a world heavily inspired by Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies.
To say Gollum has taken a while to finish would be an understatement. It was originally unveiled in 2019, and even then wasn’t expected to arrive until 2021. That year came and went (the pandemic didn’t help speed development), and even a tentative September 2022 release didn’t happen after a delay that was only supposed to last “a few months” as Daedalic took extra time to polish the title.
The timing might work in the game’s favor. In 2019, Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series was still in its infancy, and the last big Tolkien game (Middle-earth: Shadow of War) was old news. Flash forward to 2023 and it’s another story. Amazon’s The Rings of Power show is a major success, and movie effects house Weta Workshop is making its own game set in the franchise. There’s a renewed interest in hobbits and orcs, and Gollum might benefit from that demand.

Xbox head says Microsoft’s mobile game store could arrive next year
Microsoft is preparing to launch an Xbox store on iOS and Android as early as next year, according to Phil Spencer. The head of the company’s gaming division shared the timeline in a Financial Times interview published on Monday, noting the plan is dependent on regulators approving Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
“We want to be in a position to offer Xbox and content from both us and our third-party partners across any screen where somebody would want to play,” Spencer told the outlet. “Today, we can’t do that on mobile devices but we want to build towards a world that we think will be coming where those devices are opened up.”
Microsoft first revealed it was working on an Xbox store for mobile devices in regulatory documents the company filed with the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) last year. At the time, the tech giant didn’t provide a timeline for the plan, noting only its proposed merger with Activision Blizzard would play a critical role. Spencer was more direct on Monday. “The Digital Markets Act that’s coming — those are the kinds of things that we are planning for,” he said. “I think it’s a huge opportunity.”
Under the Digital Markets Acts (DMA), major platforms the European Union designates as “gatekeepers” will be required to open their devices to competing app stores. Last fall, a Bloomberg report said Apple was already at work preparing to make iOS compliant with the legislation ahead of its March 2024 deadline. The EU will allow companies it labels as gatekeepers to appeal the designation, a carveout that could delay enforcement of the law. Additionally, with challenges from the Federal Trade Commission and CMA, there’s no guarantee Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard will close before the new rules apply to Apple and Google, a fact Spencer seemed to acknowledge when interviewed by the Financial Times. However, he said it would be “pretty trivial” for Microsoft to adapt its existing Xbox and Game Pass apps to sell games and subscriptions through mobile devices.

The Last of Us season 2 should arrive “end of 2024, early 2025” says Bella Ramsey
The first season of HBO’s The Last of Us wrapped up just last week, but you shouldn’t expect the second second season until at least 2024.
Last week the live action adaptation of The Last of Us finished, bringing back all those debates about the games ending once again, and obviously leaving things a bit uncertain between Joel and Ellie. Of course, anyone that’s played the second game knows how things go (not great, arguably), but things could always play out slightly differently in the show’s take on The Last of Us Part 2. According to Bella Ramsey, though, we shouldn’t expect to see the second season until the end of 2024 at the earliest.
Speaking about the show on the Jonathon Ross show (via The Independent), Ramsey shared when they believe we should expect to see season two. “It will be a while. I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next,” shared Ramsey. “So it’ll probably be the end of 2024, early 2025.”

A new Counter-Strike game is reportedly in development and could arrive later this month
More than a decade after the release of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valve is reportedly preparing to announce a new version of its landmark tactical shooter. Moreover, a beta release could arrive as early as later this month. According to esports journalist Richard Lewis (via VGC), Valve has been working on a sequel to CS:GO for some time, and that game is “about ready to go.” He says the studio recently hosted a secret playtest of the first-person shooter that involved a group of professional players who flew to Seattle. According to Lewis, Valve tentatively plans to begin beta testing the game with the broader Counter-Strike community by April 1st at the latest. “The big priority is getting this out and then polishing it, fixing any bugs and bringing it up to the level people expect from CS,” one of Lewis’ sources told him.
As for improvements, the new Counter-Strike will reportedly feature improved graphical fidelity thanks to a behind-the-scenes shift to Source 2, the latest version of Valve’s in-house game engine. Additionally, Lewis says the game will support 128-tick servers, a feature that would bring CS in line with Valorant and reduce latency. Valve is also said to have significantly improved the matchmaking experience, which should make the community less reliant on third-party services like FACEIT. Valve did not immediately respond to Engadget’s comment request.
😳🚨With one of the latest NVIDIA Drivers a new Game Profile has been added to the NVIDIA Control Panel called “Counter-strike 2”!!
Apparently it has 2 executables:
– csgos2.exe
– cs2.exe pic.twitter.com/hWsWOh4YKV— Aquarius (@aquaismissing) March 1, 2023
Rumors suggesting that a new Counter-Strike game is right around the corner have been going around for years, but there are a few reasons to assign more weight to this latest report. To start, Lewis has a strong track record. In 2015, he wrote a report confirming rumors that one of the leading professional CS:GO teams at the time had purposefully thrown a match. There’s also corroborating evidence to support his claims. At the start of the month, a few CS:GO fans found evidence that NVIDIA’s GPU drivers have included references to “csgo2.exe” and “cs2.exe” since February.
