I had to use a colostomy bag for NINE months after my drug habit burst my colon, says Matthew Perry
FRIENDS star Matthew Perry says he was forced to use a colostomy bag for nine months after his drug habit burst his colon.
The actor, 53, says a crippling addiction to opiate OxyContin left him on a life support machine with damaged organs.

The star spent two weeks in a coma and five months fighting for his life in hospital following his opiate use – pictured with the Friends cast[/caption]
Matthew laid bare the full extent of his relationship with drugs in an extraordinarily honest new memoir.
Before yesterday’s launch of the book Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing, the A-list actor told how he had nearly died and had had a one in 50 chance of surviving after his colon burst.
It is the first time he has spoken about how he spent two weeks in a coma and five months fighting for his life in hospital after suffering a gastrointestinal perforation.
He had to use a colostomy bag for nine months after the terrifying incident in 2018.
Matthew told People magazine: “The doctors told my family that I had a two per cent chance to live.
“I was put on a thing called an ECMO machine, which does all the breathing for your heart and your lungs.
“And that’s called a Hail Mary. No one survives that.”

His struggles with substance abuse have been well documented but until now he has never been as honest about the extent of his addiction, and the impact on his health.
He said he started drinking heavily when he first joined the cast of Friends in 1994, aged 24.
But when he was involved in a jet ski accident in 1997, he was prescribed the painkiller Vicodin, and quickly became reliant on it, even after his injuries healed.
That was the first time Matthew admitted himself to rehab, spending 20 days at the Hazelden Betty Ford Center in Minnesota.

But it wasn’t enough to get him clean, and Matthew — who has previously admitted he “doesn’t remember filming three years” of Friends — continued to fight his demons.
He tried to hide his condition, but his yo-yoing weight from series to series alarmed both his co-stars and his fans.
He said: “I could handle it, kind of. But by the time I was 34, I was really entrenched in a lot of trouble.
“But there were years that I was sober during that time. Season Nine was the year that I was sober the whole way through. And guess which season I got nominated for best actor? I was like, ‘That should tell me something’.”
By 2001 he was drinking a litre of vodka a day.
At his worst, Matthew was taking 55 Vicodin tablets a day and weighed just over 9st.
He told People yesterday: “I didn’t know how to stop.
“If the police came over to my house and said, ‘If you drink tonight, we’re going to take you to jail’, I’d start packing.
“I couldn’t stop because the disease and the addiction is progressive. So it gets worse and worse as you grow older.”
Matthew, 53, reveals: ‘The doctors told my family that I had a two per cent chance to live’[/caption]
The actor attempted to get clean with the support of Matt LeBlanc, Ben Winston, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer[/caption]
With the support of his Friends cast mates — Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer — Matthew attempted to get clean, despite numerous relapses.
He said: “They were understanding and they were patient. It’s like penguins. Penguins, in nature, when one is sick, or when one is very injured, the other penguins surround it and prop it up.
“They walk around it until that penguin can walk on its own. That’s kind of what the cast did for me.”
To date, Matthew has had 15 stays in rehab but says he is “pretty healthy now”. He doesn’t want to say how long he has been sober, but says he counts every day.
He added: “It’s important, but if you lose your sobriety, it doesn’t mean you lose all that time and education.
“Your sober date changes, but that’s all that changes. You know everything you knew before. As long as you were able to fight your way back without dying, you learn a lot.”
He says he is kept going by the scars from the 14 operations he has had on his stomach.
Look down
He added: “That’s a lot of reminders to stay sober. All I have to do is look down.”
Severe addiction to opiates such as OxyContin — which Matthew was also hooked on — can cause severe constipation, and in turn, serious bowel problems, which is what happened to him when he was 49.
After his near-death experience, he was warned that if he continued taking drugs he may lose control of his bowel altogether.
Matthew told People: “My therapist said, ‘The next time you think about taking OxyContin, just think about having a colostomy bag for the rest of your life’.
“And a little window opened, and I crawled through it, and I no longer want OxyContin any more.”
Back from the brink, Matthew has a new appreciation for life, and wants to help others suffering from addiction. The reason he has written the book, he says, is because he was “pretty certain that it would help people”.
He added: “There were five people put on an ECMO machine that night, and the other four died, and I survived. So the big question is why? Why was I the one? There has to be some kind of reason.”
Fans will be reassured by the news that Matthew is healthy, after he prompted fears when he slurred his words and nodded off during an interview to promote the Friends reunion in May 2021.
He said he is “grateful to be alive” and is proud of himself for clawing his way back.
He said: “What I’m most surprised with is my resilience. The way that I can bounce back from all of this torture and awfulness.”

And no matter how shocking, even his most crushing lows and toughest struggles will be detailed in the book, released on November 1.
He added: “Even though it’s a little scary to tell all your secrets in a book, I didn’t leave anything out. Everything’s in there.”

Tributes to ‘beautiful’ London mum found dead in a bag on Peru holiday as cops probe ‘chilling recording from boyfriend’
TRIBUTES have been paid to a “beautiful and loving” London mum who was found dead in a bag in a shallow grave in Peru.
Karla Zelaya Godoy, 37, travelled to the country last month for a romantic getaway with her 46-year-old boyfriend Jorge Alfredo Minaya Garay.
The mum was described as a beautiful soul’ who “brought sunshine into everyone’s life’[/caption]
Karla’s boyfriend Jorge Alfredo Minaya Garay, 46, allegedly confessed to killing her[/caption]
But Karla was later reported missing by her family and on Wednesday night, police found human remains stuffed in a blue bag in a shallow grave after a chilling tip-off.
Officers are thought to have been sent a voice recording of a chat between Jorge and Karla’s brother Eric Zelaya, Peruvian newspaper El Comercio reports.
In the call, Jorge allegedly confessed to murdering Karla and burying her body under the patio at his grandmother’s house in a remote area in north Lima.
Karla’s boss has now paid tribute to the mum-of-one, describing her as a “beautiful soul” who “brought sunshine into everyone’s life with her carefree spirit and her loving nature”.

Karla, a Honduran-Spanish national, and Jorge both lived in London and worked at HMRC’s lorry park at Ebbsfleet, employed by Pioneer Facilities Management.
The company’s chief executive Mary-Jane Pettit said: “Her heart was so full of love for her daughter and family.
“Karla will be sadly missed and her friends and work family are beside themselves with grief.
“Our love and prayers are with Karla’s family at this very sad time.”

The company is now raising funds for Karla’s eight-year-old daughter, hoping to stump up £10,000 for the little girl.
Mary-Jane said she and her team were told on October 4 that the couple had gone missing – the day before they were due to return to work.
Within minutes they realised they could use an app which they use to keep in touch with remote employees to try and find Karla and Jorge.
Sales executive Sean Coleman contacted the software’s publishers, Connecteam, and alerted cops in the UK and various embassies.
Karla’s body was later found in Carabayllo in the north of Lima – a short distance from where the app showed her last known location.
It was also the location where Jorge allegedly confessed to burying her.
Detectives are now said to be hunting for him, amid fears he may be in the UK.
Karla and Jorge visited various tourist hotspots in Peru, including Machu Picchu and the capital city of Lima, sharing pictures of their dream trip on a WhatsApp group.
Karla reportedly last spoke to her mum on September 22 while she was in a taxi with Jorge to visit his grandmother in north Lima.
She told her mum she would be heading to Spain the next day – but she was never heard from again.
Cops in Peru launched an investigation into her disappearance on October 3 – 11 days after she vanished – initially believing she had been kidnapped.
But cops found human remains at Jorge’s grandmother’s house after allegedly receiving a recording of a phone call.
Police reportedly took more than 10 hours to recover the remains.
A spokesperson for the Peru Embassy in London told The Sun: “This Embassy is aware of the situation, while the Consulate General of Peru in London is currently carrying out the pertinent consultations with Peruvian authorities.”

It’s understood Jorge fled to Chile on October 1 and then bought a ticket back to London.
The Sun has contacted the Spanish Embassy for comment.
My friends and I tried Khloe Kardashian’s Good American jumpsuits in sizes XS to XL – it just feels like a bag on me
A GROUP of friends tried on a jumpsuit from Khloe Kardashian’s brand, Good American, in several different sizes and one said it felt like wearing “a bag.”
Sinead, Sierra, Bridget and Tamera are women whose body types range from extra small to extra large and each tries on the same clothes to see how differently they fit.

Bridget and Tamera, a size large and extra large respectively, liked how baggy the top of the jumpsuit was[/caption]
In a recent video on their YouTube channel, Clevver Style, which has 3million subscribers, the group tries on jumpsuits from four different brands, including Khloe’s inclusive brand, Good American.
After trying on the cinched, brown jumpsuit, which retails for $179, the women said they felt conflicted because they loved the piece but were torn about the fit.
“So, the fit here, I really love it because while it is a button, this tightens,” said Bridget, who wears a size large, pointing towards the tie that cinches the waist.
“You can pull your waist in as snatched as you want, you can wear it loose.”

However, Bridget said the top of the jumpsuit was a little loose, adding that it’s not “how I would normally want a top to fit.”
“But I do think it gives it a chicness and a different style than your typical jumpsuit where it’s all the same fit on the bottom and the top.”
Tamera, who wears an XL, agreed, saying the loose top of the jumpsuit added a chic look to the whole fit.
“My only issue with this, being an extra large is I guess my arms are a bit shorter,” she added, showing that the extra fabric on her arms can be a bit annoying.

However, Sierra, who wears a size medium, had issues with the baggy top of the jumpsuit, adding that she wished it either fit her or was a more exaggerated fit.
“I feel like, with some of y’all, it’s hanging a little bit more on the shoulders…and it just feels like a bag on me at the top,” she said.
Sierra said that the bottom of the jumpsuit is true to size and she wouldn’t want to size down due to how fitted they are.
“I really wanted to like this. I really wanted this to be it for me, but something is just not making me feel super confident in it.”
All four of the women decided the jumpsuit was true to size, despite their differing opinions on it.
“I do think it’s true to size, just as someone that’s bigger on the bottom than I am on the top, I don’t know if this is the jumpsuit for me.”
However, Sierra [middle left] said compared it to wearing a bag[/caption]

DUENDE? Plastic Bag MORPHS Into Unrecognizable Entity!
A retired US Army veteran is driving when he observes, what he thought was, a floating plastic bag. As he drives on, he looks back, and the ‘bag’ morphed into something unrecognizable.
You can find other more morphing ‘Duende’ or entity accounts at Black, Morphing ‘Duende’ Encountered in Rural Texas Community & More Bizarre ‘Flying Trash Bag-Like’ Entities Seen in Texas
The following accounts were forwarded to me by my friends Cam & Kyle at Expanded Perspectives:
“The reason I’m writing in is because of the ‘trash bag Duende’ stories I keep hearing. My story is brief but I’d like to preface it with the fact I have seen a lot of paranormal stuff for most of my life, but that’s another story.
This happened yesterday, the 20th of September 2022. I live in Killeen, Texas, the home of Fort Hood. That being said, I’m career US Army and just retired three years ago. We stayed here for my wife’s job and nowadays I’m a full-time house-husband and Pops (grandpa). Other than all the shopping, cooking, and cleaning I do, I try to get out of the house at least once a day.
Well, as y’all know, the temperature has finally cooled down a little and I took the doors and top off my Jeep. Yesterday, after running some errands, I was on my way home. I was driving through the neighborhood when I was coming up to a stop sign. There was a car in front of me and one to the right, waiting to turn. As I’m coming up to the intersection, I see, on the left side of the road, across the intersection, what appears to be a plastic bag floating. It was the clear color of a plastic, Walmart-type bag. I thought it was some sort of plastic bag, at first, but then I noticed it had no handles and it didn’t seem to be a bag at all. It was about 2 1/2 to 3 feet off the ground.
Now, I know people will think, “it was just a bag floating down the street.” However, as stated before, I’m in my Jeep with no top or doors. When I stopped at the stop sign, I was praying for the wind because there was none and it was 95 degrees. Yet, this weird thing kept bobbing down the side of the road. It did catch my attention, but like all the weird things I see, I figured it was just me and took off. Now, I took off but this thing caught my attention. Mind you, it didn’t change direction after I passed it. It just kept meandering down the road. There were no cars behind me at all, and when I went to look in my rearview mirror, I kid you not, this thing went up to about seven feet in height, flattened out, and shot off very quickly, making a 90-degree left turn. There was no wind, trust me, I was sweating my a** off and this thing shot off like nobody’s business. The road it went down is a very short, dead-end street.
I went down there today, to see if I could find this “clear plastic bag “ and nothing was found. Not against anyone’s fence or in their yard. I don’t know what I could’ve seen. My neighborhood is large and getting larger but it’s literally in the middle of nowhere. Well, the closest business is three miles away. Like, when I pull out of the neighborhood, you’re in the county. It’s never been populated and was a ranch for years and years. Nothing historically has happened here. So what the heck it was, I have no clue.” J

ASUS’s New Wireless Mouse Can Hang On Your Bag
Most computer mice look and work roughly the same, but there’s always room for something new and interesting. ASUS just revealed the SmartO Mouse MD200, which has the distinction of being able to hang off a bag or other hook.
