Make Vladimir Putin’s Wagner Group warlords a banned terror organisation, demands Labour
VLADIMIR Putin’s warlords — the Wagner Group — should be a banned terror organisation, the Labour Party is demanding.
The band of mercenaries is often described as the Russian president’s private death squad and is accused of slaughtering civilians in Ukraine.

Known for recruiting Nazi thugs and criminals, it acts outside the law and has been fighting in Ukraine since 2014.
But the Russian ministry of defence supplies the group with weapons.
If the UK made it a banned terror group, then it would become a crime to belong to the group, back it or carry its logo publicly.
The call comes after the world marked the first anniversary of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: “The Wagner Group is responsible for the appalling atrocities in Ukraine and across the world.
“No one in the UK should be allowed to belong to the group, support it or promote it.
“One year on from Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, we need to hold those responsible for supporting its barbaric agenda to account.”
The US banned the group last month.
Instagram accidentally reinstated Pornhub’s banned account
After years of on-and-off temporary suspensions, Instagram permanently banned Pornhub’s account in September. Then, for a short period of time this weekend, the account was reinstated. By Tuesday, it was permanently banned again. “This was done in error,” an Instagram spokesperson told TechCrunch. “As we’ve said previously, we permanently disabled this Instagram account for repeatedly […]

SINCE 1948, the Met Gala has paid homage to fashion with outrageous costumes and evening wear adorning only the most A list of celebrities.
Only the world’s best achievers in music, film, Broadway, fashion and other worthy personalities are invited to the annual grand Met Gala, organized and overseen by Anna Wintour.

Who is banned from the Met Gala?
Following 2020, when the Met Gala was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, it made its grand return in September 2021, ahead of its annual May date.
For September 2021 and May 2022, the Met Gala was a two-part exhibition in two areas of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Part one, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, opened in the Anna Wintour Costume Center on September 18, 2021.
In America: An Anthology of Fashion opened on May 5, 2022, in the period rooms of the American Wing.
The world eagerly awaits learning what each year’s theme will be and what the celebrity guests will wear on the red carpet.
However, while Anna Wintour’s list of who is and who isn’t a big enough deal to invite changes yearly, there are some celebrities that you’ll probably not be seeing at a Met Gala in the future.
Tim Gunn

Author and television personality Tim Gunn enjoyed attending Met Galas until 2006 when his invitation got rescinded indefinitely.
Gunn was banned after he publicly joked about when he saw Anna Wintour getting carried down the stairs at a fashion show by two sizable bodyguards.
“I was asked what is the most unforgettable thing I’ve ever seen in fashion, And I said it’s easy; it was watching Anna Wintour being carried down five flights of stairs by two bodyguards from a fashion show,” he told E!‘s Fashion Police.
After disclosing his most “unforgettable” fashion memory to Page Six, Vogue asked him to retract his statement, but he refused, leading him to be shunned from the Met Gala.

Stylist Rachel Zoe was once banned from the Gala after she said she’s ‘more influential’ than Anna Wintour[/caption]
Celebrity stylist and fashion designer Rachel Zoe was once invited to Brian Atwood’s table at the 2007 Gala – but was disinvited shortly thereafter.
Zoe hasn’t been invited to the Met Gala since she said she was more influential than Wintour.
During an interview with the New York Times, she said: “Anna Wintour is one of my heroes, but they say I’m more influential.”
Being the editor of Vogue, Wintour didn’t take Zoe’s comments kindly and removed her from the guest list moving forward.
However, Zoe shows that there is hope for (almost) anyone.
Her statements were made in 2007, and she returned to the event in 2012, Cosmopolitan reports.

Zayn Malik on the red carpet for the Grammy Awards in 2018[/caption]
While Gigi Hadid’s baby daddy may have attended as her plus-one once upon a time, he won’t attend again anytime soon.
At least, that’s what he told GQ in 2018.
While Zayn may still get an invitation for the big night, he told the outlet he wouldn’t go.
He said: “I’d rather be sitting at my house doing something productive than dressing up in really expensive clothes and being photographed on a red carpet… to do the self-indulgent ‘Look at me, I’m amazing’ thing on the red carpet, it’s not me.”

Tina Fey during the filming of the movie A Haunting in Venice on January 11, 2023, in Venice, Italy[/caption]
Tina Fey is one of those women who doesn’t need anyone else’s approval to keep doing her thing.
This is never more obvious than when she decided to call the Met Gala a ‘jerk parade’ on The Late Show with David Letterman.
She said: “You go and it’s this beautiful space and it’s just every jerk from every walk of life is there wearing, like, some stupid thing.”
So we’ll be surprised if she decides to go again after that interview (or if she’s even invited back).

Anna Wintour said she would never invite Donald Trump to the event again, confirming his banned status[/caption]
During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Wintour said she would never invite Donald Trump back to the event.
Trump always attended the event and even proposed to his wife, Melania, at the Met Gala in 2004.
According to Newsweek, “Trump proposed with a 13-karat diamond ring worth almost $3million – but he quickly informed people he got the ring for half-price.”

The organisation, which hosts regular events to raise money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, and other charities, has added RPG game Hogwarts Legacy to its list of “disallowed games,” as well as the entire Harry Potter series, but says this is “subject to review in the future.”

Twitter is making millions of dollars from previously banned accounts, report says
Twitter is making millions of dollars from just a handful of some of its most infamous users, according to a new report. New research from the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) estimates that Twitter “will generate up to $19 million a year in advertising revenue” from just 10 accounts that were once banned from the platform.
The report looked at the current engagement with 10 accounts that were previously banned for “ for “publishing hateful content and dangerous conspiracies.” The accounts were reinstated after Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter. The group includes a number of high-profile accounts associated with extremism and conspiracy theories, including those belonging to influencer Andrew Tate, Daily Stormer founder Andrew Anglin, prominent antivaxxer Robert Malone and the Gateway Pundit.
In order to estimate their reach and engagement, CCDH analyzed nearly 10,000 tweets from these accounts during a 47-day period in December and January. According to their analysis, “on an average day, tweets from the ten accounts received a combined total of 54 million impressions,” they write. “Projecting this average across 365 days, the accounts can be expected to reach nearly 20 billion impressions over the course of a year.”
In order to determine how much ad revenue those impressions might generate for Twitter, CCDH says it created three new Twitter accounts that followed only the 10 users named in the report. The authors found that ads appeared about once every 6.7 tweets. Then, using data from analytics firm Brandwatch, which estimates that “Twitter ads cost an average of $6.46 per 1,000 impressions,” CCDH came up with “a total figure of up to $19 million in estimated annual ad revenues across the accounts.”
While the estimates aren’t a precise accounting of how much Twitter might be making from these users, it demonstrates how valuable a small number of highly polarizing accounts can be for the platform. It also underscores how much more Twitter stands to gain by bringing back even more controversial users.
All of the accounts named in the report were once permanently banned from twitter, but were reinstated after Musk said he would offer “general amnesty” to users who hadn’t broken the law. Twitter also recently announced plans to allow even more previously banned users to appeal their suspensions.
At the same time, Twitter’s advertising business has taken a major hit since Musk’s takeover. A number of high profile advertisers have pulled back from the platform, and revenue is down as much as 40 percent, according to reporting fromPlatformer.
The report also points out several instances when ads from prominent advertisers appeared adjacent to offensive and inflammatory posts from these users. For example, a Prime Video ad directly underneath a tweet from Andrew Anglin that states “the only career a woman is actually capable of on merit is prostitution.” The report also highlights an ad from the NFL, which appeared directly underneath a tweet misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.
“This work confirms that Twitter has been displaying ads next to every one of the toxic accounts we have investigated, despite the fact that the individuals behind them are known to promote hateful views and falsehoods,” CCDH writes.
