I’m a vet – parents always want to get these beloved animals as pets for kids but it’s a huge mistake… here’s why
A VET has warned parents not buy a beloved animal as pets for their kids.
Tim Montgomery, from Sydney in Australia, said that rabbits are unexpectedly high-maintenance pets requiring constant attention.
A vet says parents should steer clear of one adorable animal[/caption]
Bunnies may love carrots – but the vegetable is their version of KFC[/caption]
Bunnies dislike being handled or confined to their hutch – and can even get sick of carrots.
He told the Mail: “I will often have clients come in having recently a purchased rabbit for their children assuming that they will be simple pets that are easy to care for which is not always the case.”
The vet added: “Unfortunately I have seen countless cases of rabbits that have been accidentally suffocated by children who just loved their rabbit too much which can be understandably devastating for everyone involved.”
Unlike dogs or cats, bunnies are prey, not predators – so they will often freeze with fear if they are held on their back or bite kids hard if rubbed up the wrong way.
They also need regular dentistry under anaesthetic and annual vaccinations.

A good owner should only pick up their bunny when conducting health checks – but much pleasure is to be had observing your flop-eared friend going freely about their business.
No rabbit should be confined to a hutch, as they like to run around – and wherever you house them, they need fresh hay and bedding every day.
And vet Tim added that for their own good bunnies should not be permitted to gorge on carrots.
He said: “Because of the Bugs Bunny cliché, they’re often fed large amounts of carrots which is basically KFC for bunnies – they’re high in calories and not very good for them in high quantities.”

Paul O’Grady’s heartbreaking final post mourning loss of beloved pet days before he died aged 67
PAUL O’Grady spoke of his heartache at losing one of his beloved pets just days before he died at age 67.
The Lilly Savage and Radio 2 star passed away “unexpectedly but peacefully” yesterday evening.
The star’s cause of death is yet to be confirmed[/caption]
Paul‘s cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but he had struggled with his health in recent years.
The shock loss has left fans and fellow celebs around the world heartbroken.
And just two weeks ago Paul told how he was grieving – after the loss of one of his beloved pet pigs.
Along with a video of the hog, animal lover Paul wrote: “Got back from a week in Newcastle playing Miss Hannigan in Annie to find that Tom Tom, one of my pigs had been put to sleep.
“I knew it was coming as he’d been diagnosed with a tumour but even so it’s awful when you lose a pet.
“He was the cheekiest of the gang and one of the other pigs who was obviously very fond of him is now depressed and gone into mourning and there’s those who say that animals don’t have feelings.
“On a lighter note I’m thoroughly enjoying playing Hannigan again after so long especially with a truly amazing and lovely cast. Next stop Edinburgh.”
Last night, Paul’s husband Andre Portasio said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.
“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”
Paul had been touring around the country in Annie, playing character Ms Hannigan right up until his death.
He had been booked to play the part for another week in Liverpool in June.
Born on June 14, 1955 in Birkenhead, before he hit the big time, TV star Paul performed as Lily Savage in the 80s.
He started off working the drag circuit with his act across pubs and clubs, and as he grew popular he eventually toured the country.
From 1989 to 1992, Paul performed annually as Lily at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, gaining increasing recognition for his act.
Paul followed this with a show titled Lily Savage Live from the Hackney Empire, which proved to be a sell-out.
Once he had gained national success, Paul was then asked to bring his act to mainstream TV.
He made guest appearances on TV programmes like The Bill and Brookside.
But it was when he took over from the late Paula Yates on The Big Breakfast from 1995 to 96 that he really hit the big time.
However he packed it in after one year saying that the early mornings “didn’t agree” with him.
As Lily he also hosted a reboot of hit BBC quiz show Blankety Blank.
Paul and Cilla Black were firm friends right up until she died back in 2015.
He even delivered the eulogy at Cilla’s funeral.

Boost for drinkers as beloved Covid rule set to stay for Coronation celebrations
TAKEAWAY pints are here to stay in a major boost to the King’s coronation celebrations this summer.
Boozers and eateries will no longer have to get a special licence to sell alcohol or set up outdoor dining.

The trend saved many small pubs who were forced to sell outdoor pints during the pandemic – and will be able to carry on without endless paperwork.
They’ll now be able to serve booze to punters who want to take them down to street parties to celebrate the King’s coronation later this year.
And the new laws will also make it easier for small businesses to host larger events – like weddings – without prior permission.
A government source said: “The British people have had a taste of al fresco pints and so the plan is to make it a permanent fixture across England and Wales.
“Booze can then be sold for drinking off-site at any pub or bar without the need for a special licence.
“It’ll be a boost for the economy and for drinkers across the country.”
Kate Nicholls, chief executive of UK Hospitality welcomed the move saying it was “the first chunk of light in a reduction in red tape.”
She added: “It is a welcome sign the government is listening, and ready to act to support entrepreneurship.
“But we need them to go further and faster to cut red tape and business costs for our vital and vibrant community pubs and neighbourhood restaurants – this is a positive boost but not a silver bullet
“Hospitality was at the heart of commemorations for the Queen and these plans will help them be at the heart of celebrations for the King this summer.”

One of Sonic’s most beloved 3D outings is now available on Steam
Sonic Colours was first released on Wii in 2010, prompting Sonic fans to declare, “hooray, Sonic is good again!” and non-Sonic fans to declare, “alright, fine, I agree this one is OK, but can we now talk about something else?”. Sonic Colours: Ultimate upscaled the graphics and added a new mode when it released on console in 2021, but seemed to also add new bugs in the process.
As of today, Sonic Colours: Ultimate is available via Steam after a period of Epic exclusivity.
Microsoft is pulling many beloved games off the Xbox 360 store next week
Microsoft will be removing a bunch of beloved games from the Xbox 360 Marketplace on February 7th, according to a support page on the Xbox website (via Wario64), meaning you won’t be able to buy them after that date.
It’s not all bad news. If you’ve already bought a game that’s getting pulled, you can still download it after February 7th. Games being removed that are available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S stores will remain purchasable on those platforms.
But that does mean digital games only available on the Xbox 360 Marketplace will be unavailable for purchase in just a week. Users on Resetera have figured out which games fall into that category and will be going away for good, and the list includes some well-known titles like Jet…
