Styles of late singer Prince and actor Timothee Chalamet were also influential, according to show designer Lyn Elizabeth Paolo.
She said: “Basically our pitch was that we were going to do a runway show.
“So the young King George’s costumes had several key sources of inspiration, including Timothee Chalamet, Prince and Mick Jagger.”
The highly anticipated spin-off show will be centred on the life of a young Charlotte, played by India Amarteifio.

“This is not necessarily a good sign, but it was a joy to do it.”

PAUL GASCOIGNE got thousands of congratulation messages after winning Channel 4 reality series Scared Of The Dark last week.
But it’s a safe bet he didn’t respond to well-wishers like he once did to the Pope – by nearly telling him to “f*** off”.

Before she was a schmoozing queen with a deciding death glare pinning you as the season’s diamond or disaster, Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) was a young girl falling in love.
In Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, we’re getting a prequel to the illustrious monarch’s youth, and her scandalous courtship with King George (Corey Mylchreest). The trailer teases appearances of the younger versions of characters like Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), with fiery romance and the pressing weight of a new queen on everyone’s shoulders.
As she falls in love, Queen Charlotte also faces the tide of a societal shift. How does a young teenager become a queen with a legacy that precedes itself? Buckle up for the jubilant jamboree that kick-started it all.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story premieres on Netflix May 4.
Welcome to Fix It, our weekly series examining projects we love — save for one tiny change we wish we could make.
If you watched all of Bridgerton in a day (there is no other way to experience it), you might find yourself giddy from the rush of Daphne and Simon’s whirlwind romance. You may have swooned for their courtship, their chemistry, and their future as it stands in the finale.
But we have some notes.
Daphne and Simon Hastings are not #goals; they are a classic example of a couple sweeping their deeper issues under the rug so they can keep up appearances and focus on the good parts of a rich and complex relationship.
At the heart of it all is their poor communication. In how many episodes is the central conflict between Daphne and Simon the fact that just misunderstand each other on a simple point? In episode 3? Simon stops the ruse but doesn’t tell Daphne why, so she’s upset. They have to be told over and over that they love each other — through obvious body language and classic crush behavior, by third parties including Daphne’s mother, in front of the queen, and finally on their wedding night when the message sinks in at least long enough for that epic and seemingly endless sex scene.
Communication is also the root of their biggest problem: that Simon refuses to have children because of his father’s abuse. Dude could’ve brought this up as early as episode 2. It’s maybe not the kind of lighthearted conversation he wanted with his new friend… so then bring it up in episode 4, when Anthony demands they marry! Or later in that same episode, when Daphne demands they marry and Simon is suddenly okay with it! Perhaps after the wedding, during that endless montage of lovemaking — I mean surely he felt at least some minor urge to tell the truth? Or maybe not, with other urges so prominently at the fore.
To that end — and I truly do hate having to bring this up — Daphne and Simon’s sex life does impede the love they both describe so ardently. This starts with the Regency era’s poor if not nonexistent sexual education; recall that it was Simon who told Daphne about masturbation in the first place. She doesn’t learn how babies are made until she’s regularly engaging in baby-making activities! Based on episode 6, these two don’t really talk about what they like so much as they learn it through trial and error; verbal communication is simply not welcome in the Duke and Duchess’s bedchamber (or library, or gazebo… basically within a 50-foot radius of them at any time).
That’s all fine and good while they’re having super hot consensual sexytimes, but leads to them struggling to talk when it’s what the relationship desperately needs. That staircase encounter in episode 7 is incontestably steamy, but it’s a familiar case of a couple opting to revert to known physical comfort as a way of avoiding tougher emotional discussions.
Obviously Simon’s reluctance to share the whole truth is part of the deeply embedded trauma of his childhood. This is completely valid, but the disconnect arises from episode 6 when Daphne learns that he’s willingly not siring an heir. That was the time to tell the whole truth and stop sitting on the information that makes it all fall into place. Simon’s childhood troubles are worth discussing and dissecting — for the couple and for us — but this never happens. He just magically changes his mind after one conversation in the finale, a conversation that was clearly put off until this point in order to sustain the conflict between them.
In other words: we could’ve wrapped that shit up with a bow by episode 6 and then spent the rest of the season on Benedict kissing boys. But we didn’t do that, and that’s on us, as a society. But there are eight Bridgerton books, so nothing we can’t fix in future seasons.

Peacock have called time on the show already[/caption]
Streaming service Peacock has decided to ditch the show three months on from the first season finale despite looking promising to be the next big thing.
The show’s creator, Julie Plec, previously built up the hype around the programme by teasing that it was a concoction of both The Hunger Games and Bridgerton.
One of the show’s leading stars, Jonetta Kaiser, has spoken out after the cancellation admitting that it has created a ‘scary’ experience for actors.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, she wrote: “So Vampire Academy has been cancelled..
“The thing is, if you’re an actor, you know that although this is such an exciting time to be part of the industry because of all the countless streaming services aka opportunities, it’s also scary because most shows now get the boot after just one season.
“This can be a tough industry to be part of but we all do it because we love it.”
The actress further admitted she hoped it was not completely the end for the show suggesting there is potential for the show to be picked up elsewhere for another go around.
She added: “Here’s to hoping it’s not totally the end but even if it is I’m grateful to have had the life changing opportunity to play Sonya Karp and gain the support of so many kind fans all over the world.”
The series is based on a number of novels by Rochelle Mead and is the second time it has been adapted for screen after a 2014 film of the same name was produced.
Ex Tracy Beaker actress Mia McKenna-Bruce held a starring role in the new rebooted Peacock series which received generally positive reviews before it was dumped by the streamer.
Peacock appear to have followed suit on its rival Netflix who have also recently axed a whole host of shows.
Neil Patrick Harris saw his romantic comedy Uncoupled dumped from the platform after just one series.
Animations including Dead End: Paranormal Park and Inside Job also got thrown out by Netflix leaving fans creating petitions in order for it to return.
It will end after just one season[/caption]
Netflix is suing Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, the duo behind The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical over copyright infringement, as first reported by Deadline. The streaming giant filed the complaint in a Washington, DC district court just days after Barlow and Bear held a live, sold-out show dedicated to their Bridgerton-inspired album.
After Bridgerton’s 2020 debut, Barlow and Bear began creating music based on the Netflix original series and promoting the endeavor on TikTok, where it quickly gained popularity. As fans requested more content, Barlow and Bear soon had enough to create a 15-song album that went on to win a Grammy in April, a first for music originating on TikTok. On July 26th, Barlow and Bear held a concert at the Kennedy…
