Bungie tracks down another Destiny 2 cheat maker, hammers him for $16.2M
Destiny 2 cheat maker refuses to show up for court and now owes Bungie $6.7 million
Bungie Keeps Winning Lawsuits Against Destiny 2 Cheaters For Millions Of Dollars
Bungie has spent quite a bit of time and effort going after Destiny 2 cheat-makers, and it seems that the campaign is paying off. As first uncovered by Stephen Totilo of Axios, Bungie recently won a $6.7 million judgment against Lavicheats in a US district court.
As court documents read, roughly $5.5 million of that sum is for violations of the DMCA, $300,000 of it is for violations of the Copyright Act, about $600,000 is for violations of the Lanham Act, and the remaining $250,000 is for court fees and costs.
This was a default judgment, meaning that Lavicheats never responded to the suit. According to Totilo, the Lavicheats owner is believed to live in India, which may account for this. Earlier in May, it was announced that Bungie won a similar lawsuit against VeteranCheats, AKA Mihai Claudiu-Florentin, for just over $12 million dollars. This was also a default judgment. Back in February, it won a lawsuit against a cheat-seller called AimJunkies for $4.3 million.
Destiny 2 season passes are getting more expensive, but Bungie hasn’t said why
Bungie has announced that it is raising the cost of Destiny 2’s season passes by 20%, though in real world money it will technically cost more.
Earlier this week Bungie put out a blog post discussing the usual kind of updates you’d expect for the game. Most notably, though, it also announced that starting with Destiny 2 Season 21, passes will now cost an extra 200 Silver, one of the game’s currencies. Previously season passes would cost just 1000 Silver, but it’s now being raised to 1200, and season passes with the additional 10 rank bundle going up from 2000 to 2200. The biggest problem there is that the only way to buy Silver is by using real world money.
Bundles of 1100 Silver cost £8.49/$10, which is obviously 100 Silver short of what you need to buy a Season pass. You can get bundles of 500 for £4.49/$5, but that now means you’ll have to spend that extra money to get the season pass at all, if you don’t have any Silver left in your account. It’s an odd choice to make, and Bungie didn’t explain why it is doing so in the blog post.

Bungie tragically removes incredible chest exploit two months after launch
Bungie has removed the Terminal Overload chest farm from Destiny 2: Lightfall, making the process of quickly acquiring reputation and loot far harder for the average player. Whether an honest trick or exhaustive exploit, the community is reeling nonetheless.
For the suckers who didn’t know, following the completion of a Terminal Overload event you could repeatedly loot one of the two reward chests by quickly leaving the zone and riding back. Each time you did so, the chest would be replenished with fresh gear for you to grab.
The community online has responded as you may expect: a cocktail of sadness, frustration, and ultimately acceptance at the farm’s departure. There are also those who are counting themselves lucky, having farmed out the 50 required chests to unlock a rare emblem that has suddenly become far more of a feat to collect in good time.
Bungie says it has ‘irrefutable evidence’ against Destiny 2 streamer accused of leaking confidential content
Bungie is ready to ban XIM, Cronus cheaters from Destiny 2
Bungie is the latest online game developer to announce it’ll start monitoring, warning, and even banning Destiny 2 players who use controller-spoofing XIM hardware or similar to cheat. The company told The Verge in February that it was investigating ways to combat cheaters, and now its policy is drawing a clear line on what won’t be allowed. The move comes as other big online games, from Call of Duty to Overwatch, are also adopting methods to try to detect the hardware and either mess with or outright ban players using them.
In its blog post today, Bungie notes that “external aides” are a problem that the community is growing frustrated with — while avoiding actually mentioning the names of the devices to deter spotlighting them.
