Big Man is only hours old, but Deep Cut’s ‘Splatoon 3’ idol is already perfect
Behold, Big Man. He’s a happy, smiling manta ray who brings some slick (water pun intended) moves to the dance floor. He’s also perfect and we love him.
Big Man is one of the three “idols” who will deliver important game news to players in Nintendo’s upcoming Switch sequel, Splatoon 3. Much like its two predecessors, the game will serve up a new group of pop singers as the face of the Splatoon experience, which frames an assortment of third-person action, puzzle-solving, and competition challenges against the backdrop of a world populated by anthropomorphized sea creatures.
Nintendo revealed Big Man, along with his fellow Deep Cut (that’s the band name) members Frye and Shiver, alongside a hefty dump of new information ahead of Splatoon 3‘s Sept. 9 release. We now know how many maps are appearing in the new game (12) and how many new weapons you can expect to find (two, including a “splatana” sword, with all the previous ones returning), among many other things.
You can find it all right here:
Not that any of it matters. Once you see Big Man, nothing else matters. Big Man is life. Big Man is love. Big Man must be protected at all costs.
The internet has definitely realized that basic truth, as well. Twitter is flooded with appreciation posts and fan art dedicated to our smiley new manta ray friend, an instant and well-deserved sensation. (The love extends far beyond Twitter, just so we’re all clear.)
That’s it, really. We’ll be seeing plenty of Big Man and his fellow Deep Cut members in Splatoon 3. Idols are familiar fixtures for active players, especially the ones who participate in community-wide Splatfest competitions. Splatoon 3 introduces a neat new twist to the Splatfest and a big hint is right there in the title.
Idols play a central role in every Splatfest, with each one stepping up to represent the teams that players choose to join. The first pair of Splatoon games featured only two idols, and their respective Splatfests similarly divided the community around two competing teams headlined by big one-vs.-the-other ideas: Cats vs. Dogs, Pirates vs. Ninjas, Pokémon Red vs. Pokémon Green… you get the idea.
Deep Cut’s arrival in Splatoon 3 means there are now three idols repping each Splatfest competition — which, by extension, means there will be three teams — and it’s poised to have a dramatic impact on the shape of these showdowns. The first Splatfest lineup of teams will pit Rock vs. Paper vs. Scissors, with players choosing which one (and its corresponding idol) they want to join.
Competition is at the heart of each event, with teams facing off in Splatoon’s flagship “Turf Wars” mode, a 4v4 showdown in which opposing squads vie to paint more of the map with their team-colored ink than the other crew. Splatoon 3 takes a new step as well, adding “Tricolor Turf Wars” to the mix, so all three Splatfest teams can go head-to-head(-to-head) at the same time. These limited-time events will still be built around Turf Wars, but with the new Tricolor variant thrown into the mix as well.
Big Man’s immediately obvious dominance raises questions, though. Will Splatfest become a thing of the past when everyone in the community naturally gravitates toward supporting whatever position the charming manta ray is repping? You might have a preference between rock, paper, and scissors, but will that feeling change when you see Big Man carrying the flag for a team that’s not yours?
These are the kinds of questions that will keep me up at night until Splatoon 3 hits Nintendo Switch on Sept. 9. Just here to say in the here and now, though: Big Man is the greatest.
Love Island stars in huge reunion as couples go wild on Tasha’s birthday – but there’s two MISSING
LOVE Island on-screen reunion was roundly panned by fans – but their wild meet-up last night looked much more fun.
Some of the villa’s biggest names piled into London’s Mnky Hse for food, shots and a lot of Instagram videos in honour of Tasha Ghouri‘s birthday.

The model turned 24 yesterday and went out on the town in Mayfair with boyfriend Andrew Le Page and their TV pals.
They were joined at the swanky venue by Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack, and Paige Thorne and Adam Collard.
The party came after the Welsh paramedic and former villa star revealed they had become girlfriend and boyfriend off-camera.
However, there were some notable no-shows at Tasha’s birthday – with Luca Bish and Gemma Owen absent.

Also seemingly unable to make it were Love Island 2022 winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti absent.
The pair were thought to be up north in Manchester, having been seen kissing in the city, where he lives.
Nonetheless, fans were delighted, with one posting: “Aww I love paige and tashas friendship you can tell those two were proper bestfriends throughout!”
Another wrote, referring to Luca and Gemma: “It’s a pity Lemma are not in London right now otherwise they would have been there also.”

Andrew posted a series of Instagram videos captioning one: “The gang is back together” and tagging them all in.
Dami and Tasha were seen dancing together in the club before they partied holding sparklers around a large round table.
Adam also shared pictures of everyone together writing: “The proper reunion is it.”

I used secret Dollar Tree products and they make my home look classier – but no one knows how little I paid
WITH just a few cheap products from the dollar store, you can make some classy pieces of furniture to ‘glam up’ your space and stay within your budget.
A DIY expert has used Sterilite crates that cost $1.25 and other products from Dollar Tree to create “fake, high-end decor” to organize her space.

Sterilite crates only cost $1.25 from Dollar Tree, but can have many uses[/caption]
YouTuber Bargain Bethany stacks crates together with zip ties and creates shelves for the insides of the container with foam board and marble contact paper.
Using the designed paper from Dollar Tree gives it a “glam look on foam,” and the expert uses an Exacto knife for a clean cut. Bethany spraypaints the outside of the structure with Rustoleum metallic gold spray paint.
Once the paint dries, the YouTuber glues cheap 5×7 picture frames to the top of the unit to make it all come together.
Bargain Bethany also demonstrated how to create a floating shelf, explaining that she recommends zip ties instead of glue – or even using a drill if the content of the shelf is too heavy.

“You can use this concept in any room of your house and use it to hang different items,” Bethany explains, showing a nursery room decorated with a floating crate shelf.
One use for a floating shelf could be to store cleaning items. You can also attach binder rings to the bottom of the crates in order to hang brooms or mops without them touching the floor.
In her video, Bargain Bethany also showed how to create a vanity makeup organizer by making a hutch with the crates for a cheap price.
“I used 26 crates for the base of this, so if you make it exactly the way that I did, it will cost you $32.25,” Bethany calculated as she made the vanity.

She shared that if the foamboard doesn’t look high quality enough for your liking, you can always grab some wood at your local hardware store.

In another video, Bethany also found that she could create a wedding arch with simple items like a broomstick and a pool noodle.
Meanwhile, a budget pro made a meal for six after spending $7 at Dollar Tree.

“It doesn’t surprise me, but I’m still pretty upset” – MultiVersus modders lose momentum after DMCA strikes
The MultiVersus hype is still strong, moving on from its rapturous release a few weeks ago. The game has a lot to offer for fans of the ridiculous collection of IP under the Warner Bros umbrella, and with news of more characters on the horizon, it looks like they’ll have more to look forward to. Even then, for a significant portion of the playerbase, the game is ripe for more. These creatives, artists, and memsters make up the MultiVersus Modding community.
However, the future of this community and all the momentum it gained due to a mix of the popularity of the platform fighter and the appeal of what they were creating is uncertain. This comes thanks to a rise in copyright strikes on published video content featuring mods, the main avenue creatives use to show off their modded works.
One such modder, who goes by JtheDuelist online, began creating mods around four years ago, where they created skins for Monster Hunter World, afterwards moving onto Guilty Gear: Strive and Final Fantasy 14 after cutting their teeth. They first got into MultiVersus after receiving a code for the alpha test prior to launch, and began their modding projects for the title after coming across others on modding website Gamebanana.
