Russell Crowe reveals the strange name he called his Gladiator costume
RUSSELL Crowe has revealed he called his costume in Gladiator a “netball uniform” because it had a skirt.
The 59-year-old actor also admitted he was drawn to the role of Zeus in Marvel movie Thor: Love and Thunder because he got to wear a skirt in that.
Russell, speaking to the Empire podcast, said: “I’ve had quite a bit of success wearing skirts in the past — Maximus had a nice little one.
“I used to call it ‘the netball uniform’.”
He also revealed he shot his scenes in the latest Thor film twice.
He filmed them in an English accent, and again in a Greek accent which features in the final cut.
He explained: “Originally he [director Taika Waititi] wanted me to do the character in an English accent and I kind of pushed back against that because on behalf of Greeks around the world I thought that was unfair.
“I was just like ‘let me have a go at this’, so they did.
“But that meant my shooting days were quite difficult because every single scene we shot twice.
“We shot once with me doing a Greek accent and once with me doing an English accent.
“And the produces at the time said do it this way and then we’re gong to screen both, and we’re going to go with the characterisation which gets the most reaction.
“So, true to their word, when they screened it Zeus as a Greek man won by a mile so they went with the Greek accent. It was a lot of fun.”
Russell won an Oscar for 2000 hit Gladiator, picking up the best actor gong.
I’m 65 and still wear bikinis – I clapped back at a troll who called me an ‘old bag,’ people love my ‘grace under fire’
A 65-YEAR-OLD woman doesn’t care what trolls have to say, even if they call her an “old bag.”
She says she’s going to continue rocking bikinis.
Stephanie (@seniorstrong) shared her response to a troll with over 130,000 TikTok followers.
One commenter took a dig at one of her bikini videos with a condescending comment: “The old bag looks GOOD,” they said.
Sporting sunglasses and a smirk, Stephanie responded to the troll: “While I typically don’t respond to negative or positive comments in videos, given the inappropriate and insulting nature of coach913’s comment, I felt compelled to post this,” she said.
“To use a term like ‘old bag’ when referring to mature older women is reprehensible, misogynistic, uncalled for, and has no place here.
“So coach913, the next time a video like mine comes across your For You Page, please just scroll up.”
People took to the comments to share their thoughts on her response: “This ladies is what you call grace under fire!” said one woman.
“The control this woman has over her own emotions is astounding!”
“Well Said, You are Absolutely Stunning,” said another.
“Please don’t even bother your GORGEOUS SELF with this kind of nonsense,” said a third.
“They don’t get it anyway.”
“You are beautiful and showed much CLASS; unlike the COWARD who sits behind their computer/phone living a pathetic & miserable life!” agreed a fourth.

The company is leaving the door open to abandon the idea altogether, meaning that those with deep pockets would…
