Castle said to be the birthplace of King Arthur at risk of tumbling into the sea due to coastal erosion
A CASTLE fabled to be the birthplace of King Arthur is at risk of tumbling into the sea due to coastal erosion.
Parts of the cliff in front of Tintagel Castle’s visitor centre have already been lost as waves batter the coastline, said English Heritage.

And it reckons several other ancient coastal sites it manages are also at risk due to rising sea levels amid climate change.
The heritage body said the rate of land lost over the past few years was “alarming”, warning sea levels are now rising at their fastest rate for nearly three millennia.
It is hoping to raise £40,000 to repair damage at Tintagel, Cornwall, which hit a viewing area and coastal path.
It also wants to raise millions to protect other sites from the sea.

Rob Woodside, of English Heritage, said: “Hundreds of heritage sites in the UK and around the world are increasingly at risk.
“If these coastal properties are to survive, we will need to strengthen their walls and build sea defences.”
King Arthur is said to have been conceived at Tintagel after his dad was transformed by wizard Merlin to look like his mother Igraine’s husband Gorlois.

Resident Evil Village DLC makes Castle Dimitrescu scary again
My time with Resident Evil Village Shadows of Rose was all too brief. Yet, despite walking through the familiar halls of Castle Dimitrescu, there’s always a horrifying surprise hidden around every corner. What I played of the Shadows of Rose DLC is just as tense as the early moments of Resident Evil Village, and it honestly left me wanting more.
After rudely interrupting the ‘Masked Marquis’ as his minions overwhelm his latest victim, the new character, Rose, soon becomes his next target. It’s not all doom and gloom, however, as some kind of spirit seems to be guiding her through the Mould-infested halls of Castle Dimitrescu by writing brightly coloured text in thin air. Occasionally, these words will transform into valuable items such as extra bullets or healing spray, just as well as the new monsters were a bit relentless at times.

Lady Dimitrescu’s castle gets a jammy new makeover in Resident Evil Village’s Shadows Of Rose DLC
Castle Dimitrescu was one of the many highlights of Resident Evil Village, so it makes sense that Capcom are returning to it in the game’s upcoming DLC adventure, Shadows Of Rose. Set 16 years after the events of Village, this story expansion centres on Rose, the daughter of Village protagonist Ethan Winters, as she comes to terms with her emerging mold powers. She was just a teeny, tiny baby when her dad was fighting off the very tall vampire lady in the base game, but now she’s all grown up and wants to be rid of the supernatural spore abilities that have been plaguing her family ever since the events of Resident Evil 7.
It’s not yet clear what role Lady D’s castle has to play in Rose’s journey, but man, it sure is nice to be back roaming its ornate hallways again. Or rather it would be, if it weren’t for all the ashen mold men stalking its corridors, and its rather gross (but strangely hypnotic) rivers of undulating strawberry jam gore that have been plastered all over the walls, floor and ceiling. Ach, now it’s on my shoes. Great. And the gate’s locked behind me. Fantastic. I knew coming back here would be a bad idea…

Balmoral Castle: The Scottish home loved by the Queen
Balmoral Castle was where for three months every summer the Queen could ‘kick off her shoes’ and relax
IT was the one place in the whole world she felt most at home.
Balmoral Castle where the Queen died yesterday was where for three months every summer she could “kick off her shoes” and relax.

The Queen’s beloved Scottish Home, Balmoral Castle[/caption]
This 50,000-acre estate beside the River Dee in the Scottish Highlands is where she could be a mum, and a wife — a world away from life as the most famous woman on the planet.
Since the days of Queen Victoria, British royals found peace there.
She arrived at Balmoral for the last time on July 23, her second summer without Prince Philip.
It is fitting that she found her final peace here surrounded by her family.

On a tour in India, I once asked the Queen: “Why do you always go to Balmoral? Wouldn’t you like to go somewhere else?”
The Queen replied: “Where else could I go?” I politely said: “You’re the Queen, you can go anywhere in the world.”
She smiled at me and said: “But I quite like it there.”
Balmoral was also the scene of many momentous moments in her long life.
It is where the love of her life Prince Philip secretly proposed to Princess Elizabeth. After they married, Balmoral became the couple’s private retreat where their family could join them.
For more than 40 years I went to Balmoral to photograph the Queen there and I will never forget seeing her walking happily along the banks of the River Dee with her corgis yapping at her heels.
