Eurovision 2023 LIVE — Sweden’s Loreen crowned WINNER as UK comes second to last with just 24 points in tense results
LOREEN of Sweden has become the first woman – and only the second person in history – to win the Eurovision Song Contest twice.
Europe’s biggest music party saw the likes of Finnish rapper Kaarija and Australian rockers Voyager perform during a dazzling four-hour spectacle in Liverpool.
But after a marathon vote count, Swedish star Loreen was crowned Eurovision winner after raising the roof with her performance of power-ballad Tattoo.
The singer, who previously triumphed in 2012 with hit song Euphoria, narrowly beat Kaarija after the public and jury votes totalled a huge 583 points.
But it was heartbreak for the UK’s Mae Muller, who came second to last on the board with just 24 points after the public and jury votes.

Pokémon-inspired art collection comes to LA this summer
A Pokémon-inspired art collection is visiting Los Angeles this summer. The Pokémon × Kogei craftwork exhibition is a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and LA’s Japan House, a space dedicated to spotlighting Japanese culture. The collection includes more than 70 pieces of art crafted by 20 artists, each piece filled to the brim with pocket monsters.
The exhibition focuses on crafts over drawings and paintings, as the art spans multiple mediums like lacquer, ceramics, textiles, metalwork and more. The artists involved with the collection include metalworks legend Morihito Katsura and sculptor Taiichiro Yoshida, among others. The collection is arranged into three sections.
The “Stories” section emphasizes franchise mascot Pikachu. A much-anticipated piece here is called “Pikachu Forest,” which is made from more than 900 strands of lace suspended from the ceiling to create, well, a forest populated by electrified yellow rodents. The “Appearance” section includes many pieces featuring Eevee and its various evolutions, like Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon. The final section, called “Life”, seems to be a hodge-podge affair with many different Pokémon.
The exhibition starts on July 25th and runs for five full months, all the way until January. Admission is free and the gallery is open seven days a week. Japan House also says they’ll be hosting events related to the exhibition but has not announced any details. In any case, this seems like a great place to meet friends for some Pokémon Go action.

Final UK evacuation flights from Sudan take off as airlift bid comes to close
THE UK’s last evacuation flights have left Sudan, the Government has said.
Two final aircraft took off from Port Sudan on Wednesday night and in the early hours of yesterday morning, local time, heading for Cyprus.
Evacuation flights had been due to end last Monday before the extra planes were announced.
The Foreign Office said there would be no further extensions.
On Tuesday, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said 2,341 people had left on 28 flights.
Some 1,195 were British nationals, with others including their Sudanese dependants also helped to leave.
Mr Cleverly tweeted: “We’ve coordinated the largest evacuation of any Western country.
“But the hard work in Sudan has not finished.”
Sudan has descended into chaos and violence amid a power struggle within the country’s military leadership.
United Nations under-secretary general for humanitarian affairs Martin Griffiths arrived in Port Sudan on Wednesday, seeking guarantee for safe passage of aid deliveries.
He said: “It’s not as if we’re asking for the moon.
“We’re asking for the movement of humanitarian supplies and people.
“We do this in every other country, even without ceasefires.”
