8Bitdo launches a $30 version of its Ultimate controller
Gamepad maker 8Bitdo unveiled a cheaper version of its beloved Ultimate Controller today. The new Ultimate C 2.4G Wireless Controller is a $30 wireless accessory in purple or green color options. It’s compatible with Windows, Android, Steam Deck and Raspberry Pi.
As its name suggests, the new gamepad connects wirelessly using an included 2.4GHz USB dongle. 8Bitdo describes it as a “simplified” version of the popular Ultimate series of controllers while “offering the same ultimate quality.” As for what “simplified” means, the company appears to have helped scale back production costs by skipping the charging dock (using cable charging instead) and the profile-toggling switch from the more expensive variants. It also doesn’t support the company’s Ultimate Software for customizations.
8BitDo says the gamepad can last up to 25 hours of playtime and recharge fully in two hours. In addition, it supports asymmetrical rumble, although vibration feedback only works on Windows. The controller also works in wired mode and is plug-and-play on PC.
The company expanded into modern console-style controllers last year after making its bones on nostalgic gamepads mimicking classic NES and SNES inputs. The Ultimate line’s design is much closer to today’s Xbox controllers, including asymmetric stick layouts. The more expensive 2.5GHz version is still available for $50, while the Bluetooth variant costs $70. You can pre-order the new model from Amazon ahead of its scheduled May 31st release date.

8BitDo’s New Super-Affordable PC Controller Is Available To Preorder Now
8Bitdo just launched preorders for a new version of its excellent Ultimate controller, the Ultimate C. The 8BitDo Ultimate C is a simpler and more affordable model than the original 8BitDo Ultimate (which happens to be one of our favorite third-party controllers for PC and Nintendo Switch, by the way), and it comes in two versions: a wireless model for $30 and a wired model for $20. Both Ultimate C controllers are available for preorder at Amazon in either lilac purple or field green color options.
The Ultimate C is quite a bit cheaper than the 8BitDo Ultimate’s $70 Bluetooth and $50 2.4GHz models, but the lower price points come with a few tradeoffs. Most importantly, the Ultimate C does not support layout customization in 8BitDo’s Ultimate Software and lacks the extra back paddles of the 8BitDo Ultimate. The wireless version also does not ship with the charging dock–though you can still easily charge the Ultimate C with a USB C cable.

This Unofficial Tears Of The Kingdom Controller Looks Awesome
Controller manufacturer IINE just dropped a brand-new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom-themed Switch pro gamepad, and while it’s not an official Zelda accessory, it certainly looks the part, sporting a gold and green design based on Link’s new Zonai powers in Tears of the Kingdom. This new controller could make a decent alternative for those who missed out on preordering the official Tears of the Kingdom Pro controller.
You can grab IINE’s new Zelda controller by itself for $37 (plus $10 shipping) or bundle it with a protective carrying case for $43 (plus $10 shipping).
Xbox’s Sunkissed Vibes OPI collaboration controller makes me want to play outside
What looks like a bottle of sunscreen and feels like it belongs in a 1990s fever dream? Microsoft’s new Xbox x OPI controller collaboration. The ‘Sunkissed Vibes’ OPI special edition Xbox Wireless controller is inspired by the nail polish brand’s Summer Make the Rules collection. These kinds of fashion collaborations aren’t new, and this particular controller doesn’t have any special features you won’t find in a standard gamepad, save from the fact that it’s really, really ridiculously good looking.
Borrowing hues from the OPI makeup collection gives the controller a distinct pop, splashing its back with a pastel blue and adorning its front with a burst of soft, but bright orange. These unique hues are what makes these kinds of collaborations so unique — you may be able to create a custom gamepad using Xbox Design Lab, but those controllers don’t have access to the custom colors mixed by the nail polish brand’s designers. I even tried to design a similar controller using the app, and it just didn’t have the same vibes, sunkissed or otherwise.
The controller’s landing page doesn’t say which OPI colors Microsoft borrowed for the gamepad, but at a glance, it looks like it’s painted in “Dancing in Stilettos” and “Surf Naked.” The polish collection has 51 whimsically named colors to choose from — just in case the bright controller inspires you to head to the beach.

This Razer Xbox Controller And Charging Dock Bundle Is 60% Off
GameStop is selling Razer’s Xbox controller and charging dock combo for just $80 right now (normally $200). That’s a steep 60% price drop on a new controller and handy accessory that any Xbox player should look into. This set used to be exclusive to Razer’s storefront–where it still sells for $200–but now GameStop carries it, too.
The dock recharges the controller up to full battery in under 3 hours, so it can easily top off your controller’s charge in between play sessions. The dock is equipped with overcharge prevention so your controllers won’t overheat or damage the battery even if you leave it on the stand for long periods.
The included controller is a standard Xbox gamepad, but it features a unique Razer-themed black and green design with a partially transparent case. Like other Xbox gamepads, the controller works on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows. It also supports Bluetooth connections, so it can work on Mac, Android, and iOS, which is helpful for cloud streaming games with Game Pass Ultimate . It attaches to the charging dock via magnetic connectors on the back.
New Zelda-Themed Nintendo Switch Controller Up For Preorder At Amazon
Head’s up Zelda collectors: A new Zelda-themed Switch Pro controller just dropped from PowerA. You can grab the new “Sworn Protector” controller for $45 at Amazon.
The Sword Protector controller sports a unique design based on Link’s iconic weapons, with an off-white and blue color scheme, a red Hylian crest in the center, and a decal of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the left grip. The design is officially licensed by Nintendo.
Along with the heroic theme, PowerA’s Sword Protector controller also includes two extra programmable buttons on the rear of the gamepad. While it does not support rumble, Amiibo, gyro, or IR functionality that you get on a standard Switch Pro controller, it does include Bluetooth 5.0–meaning you can also connect it to your PC or mobile devices–and boasts a battery life of up to 30 hours on a single charge.
