Serena Williams makes shock pregnancy announcement at Met Gala and debuts baby bump in pics with husband Alexis Ohanian
TENNIS legend Serena Williams has announced that she is expecting her second child.
The 41-year-old recently retired former world number one subtly revealed the news on Instagram.
In a series of shots in her stunning Met Gala outfit, Williams could be seen with a distinct baby bump which she cradled in one of the snaps.
She captioned the images: “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala.”
Williams’ Instagram has been flooded with congratulatory messages since announcing the news on Monday evening.
These include follow former tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, singer Ciara, actresses Tabitha Brown and Storm Reid, and former Olympian Lindsey Vonn.
Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian welcomed their first child, five-year-old Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., in 2017.
The couple has been together since late 2015, eventually tying the knot in 2017.
A 23-time singles Grand Slam Champion and fourteen-time doubles Grand Slam Champion, Williams retired from the sport in September 2022 following her exit from the U.S. Open.
And during a recent appearance on “Person to Person” with Norah O’Donnell, she admitted that she was “definitely” missing tennis.
Williams said: “It doesn’t feel like it been that long.
“But yeah, I miss playing, I’ve been doing it my entire life. So I think it will be something I will forever, always miss.”
She may miss playing, but Williams still has a busy schedule.
The soon-to-be mother of two is also a successful businesswoman, working as the CEO of venture capital firm Serena Ventures, and the owner of fashion brand S By Serena.
